Was very impressed by the fighting spirit Connor Coles showed , we could do a lot worse than consider him for the vacant number 6 racejacket

Unless they grade after each rider there will never be identical conditions which makes timing pointless.

As job applications go he couldn't have done much more. Certainly quick out the traps. Bickley continues to impress, hope he stops growing!

That was as entertaining a 56-33 as you could wish to see. The ref said it was the best meeting she had seen this year.

2018 - Guests in NL proliferate. Widespread complaints by supporters throughout the league Last winter - NL changes the rules restricting guests for 'any reason' to under 18s. Supporters respond positively Last night - new rule applies, fans start whinging. This is a typical case of fans wanting fairer rules until they apply to their club.

The Eastbourne tactical substitution manual . No point doing it against Mr Maximum as he doesn't get beat at home . Heat 8 is protected so that's out . So what is left . Heat 5 , you're 6 points down.........no not yet . Heat 9 then , you're still in touch ........eh nope . Ok heat 12 surely , still an outside chance of a point .....nope . Then heat 14 when the score is 50-27 , bring out the big guns and there you go a 5-1 . Brilliant lol .

Eastbourne really remind me of 1985 when they entered the second tier of British speedway, It took us half a year to build and from then on we dominated the league until we moved up to the top flight again. The team is built to win and entertain at home with the hope that the top three can carry the side away from home with the hope of picking up the odd point here and there. It's very much a club that's building for a very bright future, give us a season and we will be both winning and even more entertaining on the road..

I really hope the roof was shut. The Thunderstorms during the night were enough to wake me up several times.

I agree the Eastbourne live report thing was good.. re the #amow thing on twitter, i assume some of the chaps behind it have deleted their messages as i can only find a handful of posts from Steve Dixon (who's on here isn't he?) and Ian Charles. Quite cringeworthy i think tho and very much stinks of veterans who have had their feathers ruffled by someone who is new on the block and is perhaps using methods and contacts that they themselves have never had the chance to exploit. All very sad.

Take Lambert out of the equation, and your left with a mediocre championship side, and want to charge top dollar way over priced for the product IMHO.

Wilson dean would have fitted for morley prior to any 4h 4a by all accounts, him at 3, brennan 2 and bowtell at 7 and that one change makes Eastbourne a different side. Bowtells doing really well considering he is the lamb on a spit. Look at the 4 riders, scott nicholls, schlein, bomber and kennett and tell me who has the highest starting average but is the worst of the 4 . Dress it up however you want but that's the reason eastie have 4 reserves in the side .

First, congratulations on a fine team performance from the Rebels, rode very inteligent lines to either keep in front or make the passes,a fine performance and never looked like loosing the meeting from heat 2 onwards Auty again a class act for Scumthorpe, the rest were simply not good or smart enough--simple as that on the ref, never have i seen a more shocking performace in speedway, some absolute howlers all night,i can understand the odd mistake by a ref, that happen,s but to make shocking decisions all night ,that i can`t accept more concerning from a club point of view was folk leaving early, never a good sign

I couldn’t agree more. Yes the others have quickly deleted their #amow hashtags. At Glasgow last night I did not see two of the photographers that are involved so perhaps the Facennas have taken action already?. They run a large scale business and I imagine they know the consequences of not dealing with situations such as these. They have built a very professional operation up here and wouldn’t allow their reputations to be sullied in this way. I understand BelleVue are run by big London banking investors and I can imagine they will have a similar perspective on bullies. Leicester is run by a guy high up in the BSPA and Edinburgh by the ex chair of the BSPA. Can’t see any of them not wanting to take action.

I just thought that the TS in heat 7 was a strange choice. No argument in using Scotty, he was obviously on fire. But Ryan was far from the weakest Leicester rider on show, even at that point in proceedings. You have one shot. Use it well. And if you lose by 1 point, expect some clever hindsight analysis. So, I'm not pretending to be clever. But I do think Scott could have been used better and who knows, we could have won.

I can't get there every week now due to work and family commitments but try to get there as much as I can. Yes it is more expensive than it use to be but what isn't nowadays?? People say there aren't any fans favourites this season then they need to get along and add to that list of favourites by supporting the team trackside whenever they can. I reckon Henry and Valentin could easily fill that void this season though. How did Charles, Jake and BWD become the crowd favourites in the first place? Do you also think riders might use that 'fans favourite' tag to their advantage when negotiating deals knowing that they might get a better deal out of it. At the end of the day it is a business to them and they need to earn money like we all do so fair play to them if they can get a better deal out of it. I know it is Championship speedway this year but I personally don't care. I go to watch 7 Rebels do their best against the opposition on track whatever level of racing it is dressed up or down as. Presentation wise it must be difficult to create an atmosphere in what is effectively a field as the sound just disperses. I think they do an ok job with it but I am sure the team are always trying to improve and vary it each week. From the times I have spoken on the PA from the centre green to promote the annual Golf Day (which is my way of trying to help the club) it is a strange experience as you cannot see the crowd or really get much idea of feedback from them either. I attended both Swindon and Poole last year and whilst one I felt was better the other was far worse in terms of presentation. I hope it is better on Bank Holiday Monday at Wimborne Road. I actually bumped into the Blunsdon mic man at Cardiff a couple of days later and complimented his presentation which he said he appreciated. Not sure I can make it this week but I will certainly be back supporting the Rebels on the 29th with the wife and kids in tow. Hope to see some of you there!

Admittedly I've only been a couple of times this year such is my dissolution with the way the sport is run, and it sticks in the craw putting money in Chapman's pocket, but to me the racing was no better than the Championship; the usual follow the leader Ipswich fare. Regarding the buy back clause and the hope that a successful season will justify the risk, you're assuming there will still be a viable Elite League! It's bound to go t!ts up again, it always does. Louis wouldn't take the risk to move up as he knew it wasn't viable and Chapman only did it to buy the Elite league another year. The whole sport needs restructuring but it seems it ain't gonna happen with Chapman at the helm, he hasn't the ideas, ability or vision to do it and instead is happy to paper over the cracks. I realise that in the few posts I've made I probably come across as a miserable, negative old git but I do fear for the club's future. A major decision was made in haste and nobody seemed to be looking long term, it was all about keeping the top league alive for another year. Such hasty snap decisions rarely work out well in the end...

Sometimes you just have to throw the hands up and say we were beaten by a better team. And well were beaten by a better team.

If that's what happened, then yes.... I have never seen the point of glossing over the bad issues. Much prefer for people to say it like it is. Nobody said it was easy, but its part and parcel of the game they choose to be in. I always thought that was the idea of the track walk …...
