Oxford Spires vs Leicester Lions PLR2 25/09/25 19:30

didnt really see him this year a shadow of former self -
Correct, however, they can do one of two things, cut their costs and except the gravy train is leaving the station or do like plenty of riders did in the past, get a proper job and then ride in the evening, Tom Owen ran and built up a huge business in the 70/s and rode virtually every night, John Jackson ran a garage etc,, they can work part time whatever it takes, if they don’t want to that’s their choice but let’s not make them out as martyrs, speedway is at a crossroads and decision makers have to realise if they make the wrong choice then all the riders will have to get a job soon because it will cease being a sport for entertainment quickly enough

Sheffield's defeat of Ipswich on Thursday wasn't just a victory, it was a complete drubbing. This Ipswich side weren't just "playing it safe," they've lost their bottle. Leicester will make mincemeat of this shower in the finals (and rightly so!) For finishing top of the table, contrary to popular belief, you DO win something: you win the honour and respect of everyone in the sport and a sense of pride in a job well done. For that, the riders, staff and fans of Sheffield Speedway can rightfully feel joy and satisfaction in their 2025 exertions. The annals of history will forever show that Sheffield were top of the heap in 2025, despite the crooked blunt-force play-off system that clearly fails to reflect the year-long performance and achievement. So who knows, given the present circumstances, 2025 may turn out to be Sheffield's swan-song. But if we don't come to the tapes in 2026 we'll at least be assured that we went out on top.

Does anyone know if the meeting is being streamed please? -
Perhaps such riders will need to find a different vocation.

GP line-up for 2026

IMO the riders being mention are the next best in line, excluding Emil and Artum, who won’t get chosen. -
R/R would be Zach, Tobias and the reserves so not too bad better than a guest considering who is available. I agree that if there was a reasonable guest available that would be the best option. Hopefully Kerr will be able to ride after a weeks rest.
-
i think people underestimate rider power, there will be quite a few that say they can't ride unless they double up/down. if it's only for one team then riders will want paying so much more

When I arrived at the stadium at 6.45pm last night I couldn't help but notice the "Redcar Bears Speedway" staff car parked right in front of the turnstiles. You have to get there very early to secure that particular parking space. Might their early attendance have some significance in the present circumstances?

Same situation, they won't give two WC's to Danes with two in already, Michelsen more deserving for me. - Today

The man who cut the deal deserved his cut. It’s - as you say - what clubs did with their share.

Just need dates now, sure this will come in next two weeks. Prefer Latvia for a first time visit.

It could if the weather don't play ball in October end up being even more of a shambles, coz for arguments sake if the Leicester/Ipswich fixtures aint completed for wotever reason who wins the League, Sheffield for finishing top after all fixtures have been completed or Ipswich who sat top at the cut off date, or does Scotty get Max Fricke n Danny King together for rock/paper/scissors🤣

Things were not always great for the NFL - it was coming together to make it work that brought it to where it is today The early National Football League (NFL) experienced significant struggles, as it was poorly organized, underfunded, and unstable, characterized by numerous teams quickly joining and leaving, low fan attendance, and intense competition for players. Pro football also struggled for recognition, overshadowed by more popular sports The creation of the NFL in 1920 was an attempt by owners to establish a strong, stable league that could control player salaries and finances more effectively. It wasn't until 1936 that an NFL season began with the same lineup of teams as the previous year, marking a significant step toward stability.

They wouldn't tbh as I doubt most of their HL's will be at the club next season If Poole move up or it's one big league. The Holder brothers will surely be going back to the Pirate ship.

That’s the point. They have cash but no idea on what to usefully do with it.

The riders are more professional these days, hopefully, was a lot different when stoney was riding, a few fags washed down with several pints of Guinness 😁 -
Congratulations to Sheffield but the point being made about them winning the league is a misleading one. The play off fixtures were confirmed prior to the meeting at Foxhall. Because of that, it was clear that the Witches were not that bothered in the home meeting and they certainly were not tonight. If both meetings had been run ahead of the play off fixture announcement, it is highly likely that at least one of the results would have been different. Anyway, it’s all academic.

I had a big crash there in 1996 riding for long Eaton clipping James birkenshaw’s back wheel entering the 3rd turn and smashing into the mesh fence before air fences and ending up in Sheffield hospital,,I still have the race jacket which I ripped open on my handlebar clamps, but I still didn’t mind riding there for 15 or more years as an away rider even though I was usually crap there 😂 but it was an easy place to ride and never considered it dangerous
