British final 15th August
Hackett replied to Neila's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
Will some riders bother without the British SGP spot ??? BSPL will make the decision on the Wild Card. Every likelyhood it will be Tom Brennan and/or Leon Flint. Well if it is all about publicity and marketing give Fri to Scott Nicholls and the Sat to Chris Harris. For services to British Speedway and the farewell tour for the former. Should guarantee some extra press coverage and then make one of the reserves Cooper Rushen / Will Cairns each night. -
Great News. Obviously the war is a long way from being won, but it's a battle won. Who is this Stev Park D***head? What is his agenda? If he was on the supposed save Swindon bandwagon with Terry Russell, why has he suddenly swapped sides?

As a lot of promotion done today is via Facebook, just done a search, guess what no Northampton speedway comes up, Northampton shaleway the stock car page does not mention anything. It's now 7 weeks to the 1st meeting at Northampton and no sign of ANY promotion being done. Anyone live near Northampton and have you heard of any promotion?

Was at the meeting tonight with plenty of people speaking up to reject the plans...sadly Steve Park spoke and told a pack of lies .And no time did they say in public were up for sale and give the chance for anyone to run speedway at the abbey

Hope you've robbed a bank as it's not the cheapest of premier inns

The application to build on the stadium has been rejected. https://www.facebook.com/share/v/1A5dPxTP8J Not out of the woods yet, but this is a good start.

They must have been cheap as they certainly went unnoticed themselves... Not a good look for a marketing company... The sponsors are key and the clubs should engage them to use the money for local marketing and not just to fund "Superstars One and Two"... One Superstar should be the plan for every team with that rider being the focal point of the marketing.... Clubs spend a truly huge amount on riders for a sport with so few followers, so maybe a redirection of sone of this money could help it grow?

What about Northampton?

Just to correct you - British speedway HAS used professional marketeers in the past but they’ve always gone for the cheapest then, when they inevitably fail say “see, we told you marketing was valueless” On the 2 versus 1 GP stars, my expectation is that large amounts of their costs are covered by sponsors, sponsors who probably wouldn’t contribute as much overall to the team (in addition to their “help” with wage costs) if there was only one -

But I think about 30-40 Comets fans would normally go to the British final, now due to a possible clash of fixtures, British speedway will miss out on the travelling fans £25-30 admission money. Riders like say Richard Lawson or Craig Cook may want to go to the British final but at the moment the championship fixture clashes -

I was going to do it but my van was already loaded for Monday and I couldn’t be arsed to unload it and load it up with bikes and bits to then have unload and load up again for Monday, glad it went well, I’ve done alright there in the past -

Ledbury Grass track autojumble went well, good turn out, and home in time for lunch, no one is likely to retire on their takings, but fabulous value for money 2 cups of tea, 4 slices of cake, and a trading stall £9 total !! -
Many thanks

To be successful in promotions and marketing, you need to have a certain skill set, and a workable budget... UK Speedway has never bothered with bringing in professionals under that remit... Instead, going it alone and doing what they think is best has been the plan... However, you can have the world's best product, but if not enough people know what you sell, or even who you are, then the plan isn't going to work.. Paying out for two GP riders at one and five must cost circa £7k a night, and maybe more? So circa £14k for the home and away matches needs to be paid out, using admission income and/or sponsorship... I would suggest paying for just ONE GP rider and using that other £7k, each home meeting, to market your GP Star, the rest of the team, and getting your name known locally, would bring far greater rewards...

This is a classic example of how NOT to Promote, I have banged on for years about owner/promoters of Speedway teams have little or no idea what the word promote means let alone actually do some, is their an actual promoter involved ? because if so he/she needs to pull their finger out, the BSPL needs to get on the phone to Barry Bishop and eat some humble pie he is what is needed, not someone like Phil Morris who appears to have done little or nothing since he has been involved at the BSPL, or any of the other so called promotors. -

I replied in response to those who were getting their Speedway Stars delayed for goodness knows how long. Obviously, I can't prove it but I very much doubt that the delays were as long years ago. Ergo my argument has some value. That's the truth truthsayer, as I see it.

Can anyone tell me the name of the hotel within walking distance of the track please

Silence would be the preferred option in that case 😂 -
Good luck to all at Swindon. Planning meeting just started (6pm) but Blunsdon is item 8 on the agenda, so a while to wait
-
Perhaps given the time constraints they've just had to make arrangements quickly for the coming season and they will develop things as they go

Could The PL / GP supremo be looking for a "Major Hose-Pipe" manufacturer to come on board as a main sponsor, with the vision of major TV coverage in the future? ☂️😃

I doubt if the riders involved will accept the invite to the British Final if no GP wildcard is on offer, so no need to move the Championship fixtures
