  1. Past hour
  2. The highlights option is probably better for appealing to potential punters but I doubt that would come with much money. The TV sports broadcasters want their air time filled and advertisement windows filled and in a lot of cases they are prepared to pay ridiculous amounts of money to do this, that's what a TV deal should/would/could bring.
  3. It could also be said that a bike failure in heat 14 cost Poole the point that would have given them the aggregate!
  4. Minor detail considering the superb coverage they do.Olly Allen and Kelvin are not exactly neutral on TNT.
  5. Assuming the points limit stays at 40 then Poole have to lose around 4 points from the current 1-7!!
  6. I take your point on Klindt and Riss BTW, but im not budging on Nagel and he is a terrific talent.
  7. Can the Pirates reset, refocus after such a great night? This is going to be a bit of a mental challenge too for Poole, but one they should be up to imo. But it could also be an opportunity for The Bears. First four heats crucial tonight I'm thinking.
  8. Today
  9. I have noticed that with others on the BSN commentators/interviewers thought they should be neutral!
  10. Let's hope even half of them stay regulars... A massive positive if so...
  11. I would have taken a chance on Dan hoping that his fast gating would have created a different mix on the first and second bend….. but it’s all water under the bridge now and no real point in looking back. Lawson and Cook were immaculate in the final heat.
  12. I will say well done to the Pirates on your super win last night, just hope we give you a closer meeting than last week, as long as we see some passing like normal on the best/fairest circuit in speedway.
  13. Clubs have their own broadcast quality production crew and this supplemented by BSN would produce more than enough footage for a highlights show. TBH this would be better than a full live show as these generally show it to be boring and devoid of excitement due to the FTG nature of our sport now. Even the worst of tracks get a good race every 30-45 heats and whilst this is used on here to poo poo those complaining about the racing at certain tracks it would work perfectly for a tv show. The problem then is providing a race night experience that matches that presented on the highlights show. When you have clubs like Poole being open about producing a gate’n’go track to negate the excitement usually provided by Christ Harris etc then we will always be in trouble as a sport. Poole are by no means the exception in this, unfortunately.
  14. Not all us hibs and Edinburgh fans are bad eggs. 😁 One the reasons I went along last night knew it would be tight and all would be left on the line.
  15. Seriously, so that suggests there are two of you quite a large percentage of the Monarchs support I'm sure you would agree that it was a great performance by the Tigers and great entertainment all round. On any other night, the result would have been brilliant, but in the end one bike failure cost us the aggregate win.
  16. Lots of clubs have pretty good HD level streaming services so they could be used by the main broadcaster. Similar to how football "round up" programmes show goals from every match... It isn't always the main broadcaster covering all of them but local streamers linked to the clubs.. And of course you have BSN... Much cheaper for the main broadcaster, even if they pay a fee to the streaming companies for their content, (so they gain too)... Maybe a "match of the week" showing 20 mins or so from that match, and then well edited, snippet highlights showing the "best bits" from races around the country of all the other matches. ...? Get a couple or three riders in the studio to discuss their involvement in the meetings shown, and what their week looks like re flights to Poland, Sweden, France, Denmark etc etc... A window into the unique life of a Speedway rider, which I think would interest those non followers to take more of an interest, and raise the profiles of the riders.... Add in a five minute "young stars" segment and you would have a decent 60 mins magazine programme...
  17. Nagel will be a top rider I am sure but as you say inexperienced, my choice would have been Flint or Dan T.
  18. Howarth was not fast enough and he had not gated all night, he only got a paid win in heat 13 because Lawson crashed. He did gate in the super heat but was easily passed. In my opinion the wrong choice.
  19. They should do a one off challenge match at Poole 29 Oct v Ipswich. Let Poole use a couple of PL riders to bolster the side. Shovvy and Gavan watching the meeting from the centre green or even team managers on the night! Live on BSN all proceeds going to the Ben Fund. Everyones a winner!
  20. He has, and he would, but he also has the lowest heat 15 average in the team. I don't fancy his chances of improving it in the grand final. He was beaten by Lawson in 1, and wasn't beating Kerr/Cook when he retired in 10. He's awesome, but I think we sometimes forget he's not an established heat leader or experienced, and those are really useful attributes in big heats. I don't think you'd see Poole putting a rider like that in a big race, and I think it's because it's a move you make when you already think you're losing and don't trust your heat leaders. I know he won heat 8 by the distance to the English border, but you sometimes see reserves do that in heat 2, then they come out in heat 4 and you realise you were judging them by the wrong yardstick. That's not to be down on Nagel at all, btw.
  21. From some of the posts above, it looks like we could be losing a Russian but gaining a Rushen….
  22. Nagel has done heat 15 before though and he would have given it everything. Howarth only got a paid win in heat 13 because Lawson crashed. Howarth was off the pace at that point, he was so far behind in heat 13 when Lawson crashed. Not complaining though, I was over the moon when Cami put Howarth in. Bomber knew the situation, there would have no point in flying past Lawson and Cook to get the win.
