Tai Woffinden Testimonial
mogmacrash replied to WookieboyDon's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
Its on BSN, so pay per view. I'd like to see the full lineup, although there will likely be even more changes. -
What a great evening of speedway. That was a really enjoyable meeting. Well done to Scunthorpe for preparing a track for entertainment. A good win for the Scorpions but Poole are just too strong. Ten down after six heats and the momentum with the home side, but credit to the Pirates; they respond when the chips are down. Felt like Rushen’s win in heat ten was massive for Poole. I think we’re so accustomed to his performances, we forget he’s only 16. Incredible. I defended Cairns against Redcar, but heat eight was outright cheating and the referee failing to address it was unacceptable. Well done David Howe for highlighting it on BSN before the last heat. It didn’t look good for Middleditch; he just stood there looking at the ground, speechless. Looking forward to the second leg and praying Poole prepare a track worthy of a grand final finish.

You might be on your own with that one, sorry to be harsh, but your response and attitude is the reason speedway is dying. Speedway needs more atmosphere and more passion. Not a nice little family night out. Go to the cinema if you want that. Sports has always been about atmosphere, look at darts and how it changed completely. I think you have a very closed attitude and mind and would be good working for the upper echelons of British Speedway. This is going to sound super harsh but speedway could afford to lose people with your mindset to gain a lot more people with real change.

Strong rumour Harrison will not be in next year. Hook and Ablitt not good enough. Mountain can do better. The enigma that is MPT, poor for two thirds of season and very good in last 3rd of season. Picko would like to come back, but depends on other demands i.e. Poland. Ryan Ingram only 16 and has done well in his first year, keep him. More concerning is the year after, when both Rob Godfrey and David Howe step down and who takes over the whole business
-
You can't have two riders at home not performing and expect to get enough pts to take a comfortable lead to Poole. Scunthorpe did really well with the other five riders, but, to keep both Hook and Ablett heat 12 was a certain 5-1 to Poole. Surely Howe could have changed things around a bit, to stop that from happening. Such a shame, if those two had contributed, it could have been a bit more exciting next Wednesday.

Wild Cards for 2027
eric i replied to LagutaRacingFan's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Russian's have been ruled out FIM confirmed. Bewley, Holder, Lindgren, Kvech -
Scunny could really of done with Hook been out for the season, coming back from injury after hardly riding all year, straight into the playoffs on a track hes not dialled in on. Jenkins or R/R would have scored a few. Good effort by Scunny, it won't be enough, Poole will win by at least 20 probably 30 at their place. What did Godfrey say in the programme, is he selling up? is that the track or the speedway club?
-
No. I haven't heard anything official though, but that's my opinion. It was brought in for 2026 as there were 9 riders over 8.00 and 9 teams. (Scunthorpe ruined it slightly by signing a rider that didn't ride in the 2025 Championship but no one said they couldn't). In 2025 there was a definite split in the haves and have nots and needed something to change to keep the league competitive. I don't expect the rule to stay, but if it does, I expect the 8.00 to be changed to whatever figure is between the 9th and 10th best rider averages after the British reduction is applied (assuming also that there is still 9 teams).

Glasgow Tigers 2027

You seem fairly certain of that. Where is he going then? Ashfield is his favourite track in the league, and the promotion seem to want him back -
So if you are a club owner but can't afford to meet large scale capital expenditure then you would prevent them from obtaining investment and/or donations from the fan base? That may well mean the end of Plymouth or any club that would find themselves on a similar position. With a small number of active tracks that's a very big call especially as no club could probably meet these type of expenses from normal income/expenditure and would be relying on their owners to fund

Bomber will not be a Glasgow rider next year unless they move up to Premiership -
That was one hell of a ride. Great racing tonight in front of a decent sized crowd but zero noise from them even when they were demolishing us. They need a centre green MC to get them fired up. No point saying after every single heat that this is the best racetrack in the country. After heat seven Pirates started to fire back and were helped by the Scunthorpe manager not swapping the reserves which allowed Poole a 5-1. Eight points to Pull back. Have to take that.
