  10. BSPL have now got the dates correct! Took then a while but got there in the end.
  11. Looks one hell of a talent on a bike also reminds me of Kelly Moran's riding style.
  12. Thanks for the steer Phil hopefully he will be continuing with season 3 fingers crossed.
  13. Thankfully, not everyone has such a negative view.
  14. Polish League matches had plenty passing at the Week end.It appears to be the way Morris and Co prepare tracks, whether it what the rider want who knows!!
  15. There has been very little racing....main reason being the tracks are far too slick, must be a directive from either the promoters or the riders, either way they are killing the product.
  16. I enjoyed the meeting last night - great to see how the riders got on, particularly from the lesser nations - Levishin was giving it a go, Bednar and Partnitski created interest, even the Argentinians got better but such a shame there was no crowd at all - if it was held in one of those smaller countries then maybe it would have been better?
  17. As I said, if we just use averages then there's no need for any competition. Kurtz would have made a good wildcard in 2024 but wasn't picked. Being good enough on your or anyone's assessment has never been the main criteria for competing for the world title - some riders have a good year and then never again, the current system awards future places on past performance so there are no surprise packets anymore and I think the championship is worse for it.
  18. But! But! But!.... Just think of the massive publicity and financial rewards on offer for winning the NDL!!!! ... Absolute crackers isn't it? Someone really needs to save this sport, and whoever it is, needs to start with saving the promoters from themselves...
  19. Many a great Sunday afternoon spent out there in the country... Hopefully more of the same next season...
  20. This is a little story from the year after I finished, Buxton had a home match and had 2 riders missing as I think 1 was injured and the other rider had a match for his championship team on the same day so Buxton booked a guest, and used RR for the number 1, this guest was no superstar but it was the only rider really available, he wanted £35 per point plus Tavel plus a tyre plus fuel and he wanted a hotel for him and his Mrs as he was riding somewhere else the next day so was not going home, he was booked to ride at number 4 but on the morning of the match the championship match was called off so the number 4 was able to ride,so Buxton told the guest he would ride at number1 to which he said he wanted an extra £5 per point, for what exactly? ,the meeting was rained off anyway but he still wanted his hotel paid as he was still riding the next day, that was the sort of thing which killed off Buxton, well that and some teams paying gaurentees of £500 for their stars, I’m blowing my own trumpet here but when they had the chance the bspl should of put me in charge of the national league the day I retired.
  21. I see no point in talking about which riders may leave if there is one big league, as they may leave anyway as many have, you can’t stop them. You have to build the product with what is viable and what is available, I think I say it every season, the biggest issue the sport has is running costs, bikes cost to much to buy and run, promoters then have to pay a fortune to them and fans pay the promoters back but everyone except the riders and tuners are losing money. One league or three won’t make any difference until costs are brought under control. At some point the sport in this country is going to have to take more steps back before it can go forward, and I am talking semi pro at best, so National League late 80s but without nine and ten point calibre riders of that time, or the team version of grass track and lots of people go and watch that without big star names. You would have to go smaller size teams until enough new riders can be trained and again that’s where runnings costs comes in plus you would need a proper training program. They had the same issue after the War, different times but the problem is the same, not enough riders.
