  2. SPEEDWAY FUTURES LINK WITH HARRY Monday, September 15, 2025 PREMIERSHIP CEO Phil Morris says the appointment of legendary football manager Harry Redknapp to the Speedway Futures Management team marks a major step forward in efforts to raise the sport’s commercial and media profile. Redknapp, 78, enjoyed a stellar career as player and manager, making over 100 appearances for both West Ham and Bournemouth. He then had extensive spells in charge of both clubs before going on to great success as manager at Portsmouth and Tottenham. Away from the game, Redknapp’s public popularity was confirmed when he won the 2018 series of ITV reality show ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ Speedway Futures Ltd was set up in 2024 and became the commercial and media rights holders of British Speedway, with the specific objective of attracting long term commercial investment to develop the sport in the UK. Morris said: “There’s been extensive work over the last year or so, firstly in terms of bringing together a team of people with experienced commercial backgrounds, and expertise in media, which can help us develop the sport. “Obviously the aim is to bring additional investment into British Speedway, and we have been talking to major multinational sports investment groups about potential future involvement in speedway in the UK. “Speedway Futures are the new media and commercial rights holders for British Speedway, and we do have various potential deals in discussion which we believe can make a real difference to the sport “As far as Harry is concerned, it’s marvellous news, and it comes from a direct connection with a member of the Speedway Futures team who approached him about getting involved. “He will be joining the Speedway Futures Management team, which is great news. He will be focussing on leveraging his commercial and media contacts for the benefit of British Speedway and also actively raising the sport’s profile through all his connections. “He has over 1.4 million followers on social media, and that automatically creates a new audience and gives us the opportunity to reach out to groups who we wouldn’t otherwise be able to target. “To bring in someone with such a general reach and appeal as Harry can only help us to increase overall interest and hopefully bring in significant investment.”
  3. Shocked we not had Hawk and Mike B telling us it never rains in Poland when they have the Play offs
  4. Agree - It has just been an unlucky weather window this year It could happen in any month whenever the plays off were organised for
  5. Today
  6. See it on facebook as well people moaning about having the play offs in September due to the weather . September can sometimes be the best month of the year and we still have 6 weeks tll the end of the season anyhow. Sometimes a speedway meeting can be rained off its just unlucky.
  7. Yep - Dan back to 0.05 below Adam 6.07/6.02 So unless the outstanding Sheffield/Ipswich qualifier is raced before the 23rd it will stay that way
  8. If Kurtz was riding for Ipswich I would be having a moan at him, but he made our job easier. Felt sorry for the travelling away fans.
  9. probably finishing the actual league matches that hadnt been run before the cut off.
  10. Haha well spotted, Poole should be on tomorrow though. Ive done it now!!
  11. I think DJs most famous failure was nothing to do with the engine but a cycle part - who knows if he'd done anything to that though!
  12. April and May are the driest months in the UK on average, so perhaps it's a spring sport? However, that's on average, interestingly (to me 🙂) August was one of the wettest months in both 2019 and 2024. There's nothing as predictable as rainfall🤣
  13. I remember in the 70's Colin Goad not the exactly what you would call "svelte " ( at Elle Port) drilled every part of his bike ,it looked more like a Meccano model . Graham Drury father looked at it and said to him "would you not be better to eat a few less pies " everyone just burst out laughing including Colin .

  15. Mike, you always talk a good game but I sometimes wonder why you come on this forum because most of your posts are full of negativity. If I had a quid for everytime you've used the phrase "mickey mouse sport" I certainly wouldn't be taking my holidays in Cleethorpes or Skeggy! I'm also having difficulty understanding your recent post. If the play offs are to remain, are you suggesting that the finals should be held in July or August when the weather has a better chance of behaving itself? The league matches themselves have to lead to a climax of some sorts so if the play offs are held in July, what the hell then happens in August and September? I've known past Julys that have been a complete washout and Septembers that have been akin to an indian summer so blaming the powers that be for this current weather situation with the subsequent cancellations etc is both unfair and pretty unreasonable.
  16. 100%.... Baffled by the moaning by Ipswich fans about an opponent's poor performance ....😁 And he got a bonus point more than Dan did...😁..
  17. poor choice of guests based on what ? there past result at armadale ? 7. Simon Lambert 3, 2', 2, 3, 1, 3 = 14+1 5. Nicolai Klindt - 3, 2, 3, 3, 3, 3 = 17 terrible choice 😁
  18. It's a "summer sport" in so much that this is the time of year that has the least rainfall.. And higher temps.... When a sport relies so much on "decent" weather, to attract its crowd, you really should be maximising those months that are drier and warmer.. The first month or so can attract crowds based on the enthusiasm of fans after the long winter break, but, as has been said, as you hit the colder and wetter time of year in late September and October, sitting at home and watching on TV becomes more of an attractive option.. Which impacts the "be all and end all" play offs.,
  19. Might not rain in Sheffield tonight! Forecast is bad but so was the one at Poole.
  20. Fixture has a new date of Monday 22nd September. The BSPA have decided that Thursday 25th September is only a reserve date. The final will not start until after the SON Monday 6th October Leicester/ Sheffield v Ipswich. Thursday 9th October Ipswich v Leicester/Sheffield
  21. But you wouldnt back a firm ground horse if there was a danger of heavy rain.
