  1. Past hour
  2. These two statements would not seem to be consistent. I have mixed feelings about Bomber getting through. I really don't think he is GP standard and I'd hate to see him propping up the field next year.
  3. When my lad played for a League Two U21 Academy the first team had 4,000 there each week... Laying out £22 to get in... About 100 came to watch his U21 team play.. And it was free to get in... Watching Youth Racing and Senior racing is like comparing Apples to Oranges .. And, if that Youth Racing had took place on a Monday night, the crowd, (and participant) numbers would have been even less...
  4. Belle Vue tried that last weekend. Sunday afternoon, lovely weather, £15 for over 30 races and any number of kids free. The riders were all a similar standard with no top stars as like you say people don’t know their Bewleys from their Shimelt’s. Less than 200 people were there when I looked around. On the last point we didn’t get top players over at great initial expense but rather signed the likes of Fricke, Brennan, Kurtz, Lidsey, Bewley, Blodorn & Cairns and watched them become the lads they are today. In Britain we don’t need to spend but we do need to foster development for those within our commonwealth.
  5. I've got the all on "ignore", it really is a useful tool (unlike them!!).
  6. Today
  7. At this stage why don't we just allow the premiership to race over the weekend? Yes we will loose some top riders but this is a price we might have to pay. The general public don't know who Dan Bewley and Jack Holder are, they just want an enjoyable night out at a reasonable price. If clubs don't have to pay for the top riders then the meeting might be more affordable. Also, the racing is likely to be closer as more clubs can compete at a similar level. We always compare ourselves to ice hockey but they don't spend all their money trying to get players from the NHL over so why should we?
  8. As I said we can read into a result what we want to - it’s what fans do!
  9. Paddy Power, what are the odds on Tai Woffinden making a comeback before the years out?
  10. One forum on the internet is enough. Keep all the whinging muppets in one place, don't spread them out
  11. Well a lot of people are commenting on why the forum is in decline, this past several posts is a point why a lot of people don't interact anymore. And most of it is on the Poole page so it's affects their popularity as well. Why can't these pointless posters stop their fued
  12. £15 to see the same bunch of riders you will see in the same style of meetings you'll see at Iwade and IOW. Nah you're ok thanks. If I want to watch repeats I'll stick to BBC2
  13. But the same could be said of the R1 fixture which was 44-34 after heat 13, and a last heat 5-1 the other way would have made it 48-42. The fact still remains that over 15 heats Ipswich only scored 1 point more than their previous visit, despite Sheffield running R/R for one of the best riders in the world. That suggests to me that they performed worse than their previous visit.

  16. I suppose as a fan we can all project what we want onto a scoreline / final result - I wasn’t there but a last heat 5-1 the other way makes it 47-43 which would give it all a very different discussion after / it was 43-35 after heat 13 so I’d describe that as being ‘in’ the meeting until the very latter stages. hope it was good as we need good racing and close scorelines to help tempt fans either back or back for a second visit. Was the crowd any better with the offer?
  17. Monday’s match line-ups Vargarna v Vastervik Vargarna 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 Vastervik 1 2 3 4 5 6 7
  18. Or when he was at Ipswich - he was the top BP scorer!
  19. I post on there now and again, seems a shame not to at least look in now and again after all the hard work @IainB put in setting up the new site, on the plus side at least this site has improved since its been back online regarding adverts coz it used to craze me the amount of adverts popping up every time i looked in, and i haven't set up an ad blocker so fingers crossed it continues as it is currently.
  20. I think iainb set up most meeting threads on here.... And only probably did that, usually on the day, due to no one else from either team involved bothering... There has been a growing feeling of "what's the point?" I would say since Sky stopped showing Speedway, and their seven figure input also stopped.... With the ever increasing constant sharing around of riders, even with an ever reducing number of teams, suggesting even those running it don't take it too seriously, and, for them, just putting on a Speedway meeting, of any degree of relevance and credibility, is the only box to tick for them... Apathy is probably the feeling of many, either on here, or even those dwindling number of die hards who still attend tracks regularly... The two nights in Manchester for the GP's though must have delivered circa seven figures in income, therefore, there still must be hope for the sport in the UK if they can make it a credible offering...
  21. Is this forum dying a slow death like the sport in this country? I started a topic yesterday for the Scunthorpe vs Redcar match because it was going to be on BSN, but why is an fan of a club that ceased to exist eight years ago starting a topic because two sets of fans who still have clubs to follow are clearly not interested, and there has been scant follow up after the meeting. Oxford were at home last night, but not a mention of that match on this forum, its like it never existed, Plymouth is the same, often no threads for their home matches. I know not all fans do social media but you would think a few from a group of at least 500 (that's the min most clubs get) would want to be interactive.
  22. More Steve's previews of Poole's matches....
  23. Tonight Gates open 6pm Rider Parade & Practice 7pm Tapes Up 7.30pm
  24. I don't know why, but I still have a feeling Bomber will do it somehow!!
  25. I watched this on BSN: there was some good racing, and I was really impressed with Scunthorpe's young riders, Harrison, Ingram and Ablitt.
