Maybe, but it’s a fine margin. Howarth’s no shows in heat fifteen and the race-off in the play-off final somewhat deflect the fact that at times, he was remarkable last season. His 5-1s with Harris against Edinburgh in the semi-final, taking Masters from behind (the Bishop said to the maid) at Ashfield, absolutely bullying Zach Cook at Ashfield in a critical race of the final, etc. Thompson’s 2025 was a strange one. I don’t think he was the same rider after his hand/wrist injury suffered in the U21 final. He had a great season, some tremendous meetings and played a huge part in our season, but his last effort in a Tigers’ race suit was to be surrender three points in being passed by Lewis Kerr. You could reverse engineer a whole meeting on where it was won and lost, but Thompson being done by Kerr wasn’t in the forecast. I’m in no doubt however that Thompson will have a fantastic season at Armadale.

Mildenhall hasn’t lost the dogs; it’s just a change of lessee from Mr Boothby to Arc. Oxford is still owned by the Galliards and we might hear some news about the greyhounds and speedway later this week otherwise….

I expect Mario to struggle. Kevin might be OK but will likely be outscored by opposite numbers on his first visit. I'm pretty sure Edinburgh will win but let's see how our new boys adapt during the meeting and see how our reserves stack up. The 1-3-5 boys should be fairly equal and entertaining. -

Dan has now got Polish commitments and will miss some Saturdays, last Saturday being an example, so while he may well outscore Chris, Glasgow have made the right long term decision. -

The BSPL current rider statistics list Pickering as 9.36, so based on that, I would presume so. -
A good journalist never reveals his sources 😂 To take the positive at least "there were more than 50 posters bemoaning the fact that Phil had gone" was reported... hopefully that will send a message to those in charge that on the whole his contribution to PL Speedway over the last couple of years has been an immensely positive one 👍

It would be impossible to build a strong looking team with Pickering on an 11+ average, so I naturally assumed they had a plan for when he got a new average? Technically Harrison is a second string & riding with a heat leader (Connor Mountain). Mountain certainly did his job yesterday. -

Well isn’t this what they did last year with the Kennedy brothers……. And then didn’t bring them back again? Surely they could swap MPT for Antti Vuolas straight away to strengthen up? -

The same man on 360 many weeks ago referred to two big things that were going to happen involving Speedway Futures. One he said he was 99% certain of and we should hear something in about 2 weeks and the other he was 90% certain of happening. As usual there was not a drop of information and I'm still waiting as probably are many others for the announcement of one big thing never mind two. -
Correct. The 'Tree' ought to consider - Attack the post... not the poster. I won't get my Speedy Star til sometime next week when Postie Pat does the honours, then i can see the full article. I hope Phil wasn't called a 'keyboard warrior' !!! From my working life i learnt - nothing travels faster than a rumour! PTA has a good track record. Keep posting.

Ray Stadia started following Oxford 2026
-
The problems for Oxford, unless I'm misunderstanding things, seems to be the removal of the greyhounds from the stadium, which has happened at Mildenhall as well. Therefore, Oxford stadium has lost an income stream, which maybe, the speedway side of the total business, is unable to make good. Mildenhall has a strong bangers and stock car part of the total business, so is likely and hopefully, unaffected. I presume the stadium owners are still the venture capital company, who were the problem with running speedway at the stadium a number of years ago. Let's hope this doesn't give them the excuse they are looking for, if I'm right in my thinking. 😳

Why not? If you’re going to put it out there, face the consequences and own it when it turns out to be bullsh!t.
