  1. Past hour
  2. Persistent rain for the last hour with for half of that time a torrential downpour (approx 2 miles from stadium but heading in that direction) Forecast is dry and warm from here on with potential good sunshine from early evening
  3. It’s just the end of season fixture shambles nothing new.!
  4. Just read a Polish report on Facebook saying Swindon council approved new stadium? Let’s wait and see 🤔
  5. By the way,, hard chargers are good,,its not a criticism.
  6. Hard chargers like a couple of the Sheffield team ? Bit harsh when you have Doyle !! It might be a 'nothing meeting' to you, but the result of this will decide 2nd and 3rd in the table, which impacts on home advantage for the 2nd leg of our playoff.
  7. I see on the cover of this weeks Speedway Star they are talking about a new track for next season. I havent bought the Star for ages so does anyone who does have any info on where this new track is?
  8. Yeah but one less meeting on probably a slippery track against hard chargers like a couple of the Sheffield team,, may do us a favour. A nothing meeting like tonight isn't worth the risk
  9. Some have polish meetings brennan & sayfutinov have for sure
  10. Today
  11. Have too agree, also the decent crowds add too the atmosphere, the racing can be ordinary at times but there is always the atmosphere among the fans that will make it a good day out for them.
  12. Hopefully this will be called off,, riders then fresh and hopefully injury free for play off
  13. I knew I wasn't going fully mad, just couldn't remember where and what side would have had priority! Thanks
  14. He posted that Monday would clash with a Swedish rearranged fixture but that the Ipswich Semi would have priority
  15. Good post. I agree that the BSPL with only 4 current active members does not indeed have the wherewithal to steer the sport to better times. It definitely needs the help of professional business, marketing and PR consultants to develop strategies for sponsorship, fan engagement, improved media coverage and the attraction of investment. However this costs money and the BSPL don't have much. Promotions need to urgently think about improving facilities and introducing activities that make Speedway more family oriented and not just about the racing. It also in the shorter term needs to be serious about realigning the costs of running the sport based on current attendances.
  16. I'm sure he posted on socials a few days ago that if Ipswich top the league he's got a clash with play off dates... just checked, Play offs in Poland are 8th and 14th so should be fine
  17. < 50% => minority But It is certainly not a 'small minority'

  21. Meeting scheduled for Saturday 6/9 OFF The very inclement weather this week causing serious issues with planned track maintenance ahead of Mildenhall Speedway’s planned comeback meeting has sadly left the club’s coordinators no choice but to make the decision today to cancel Saturday’s (6/9) match vs. Rye House. Speaking on behalf of the club Steve Ribbons announced the news on Wednesday morning, “We took delivery at the stadium from storage yesterday of the wooden panels and air fence which were due to be put up in the next couple of days - with maintenance to be carried out on the track surface and to the panels. “It needs to be remembered that with no Speedway on the West Row track for virtually two whole years now, this time period between now and Saturday was always going to crucial to us”. Ribbons continues, “The last thing we needed then was this spell of very heavy rain, which has meant we’ve needed to take the decision, extremely reluctantly, to call time on these efforts; as it’s clear that getting the track surface ready and to carry out the repairs and some wooden fence panel renewals (as in storage, some had become rotten) wouldn’t be possible in the time scale we had because of the adverse weather conditions.” This of course also means that the practice session planned for Sunday 7th. has also had to be called off – refunds are being issued. Attention now shifts to redoubling efforts to get everything ready with improved weather conditions forecast for later in the month in anticipation of what will now be the reopening meeting, vs. fellow NORA club Isle of Wight Warriors on September 20th. Ribbons concluded, “We apologise to all our fans (many of whom of course have a stake in the club as Trustees), to other spectators across the area and the sport who were making plans to come on Saturday, to the riders, to all those working to get us back on track and to the numerous sponsors particularly ‘Speedway In The East’ and Troy Dudley whose injection of cash into our opening meeting was so welcome, for this decision to call off. We are just pleased that at least we could make this decision early enough to stop greater inconvenience to all and now look forward to an improvement this month in the weather.” Fellow club coordinator, Kieran Phillips added his comment, “I’d like to add my apologies to all the fans who had planned to attend - but our vision has always been to deliver a quality product; and track wise, with the weather we might not be able to achieve that. You, the fans have been so patient with us we don’t want a sub-standard meeting”. To clarify, the Mildenhall Speedway meeting scheduled for Saturday 6th. September is now OFF. The opening meeting will now be on Saturday 20th. September vs. Isle of Wight Warriors.
  22. The first division in 1970 had 19 teams. Of those 7 teams, Belle Vue, Coventry, Halifax, King's Lynn, Wembley, Cradley and Swindon raced on Saturdays, so hardly a minority !!
  23. Yeah Glasgow on Sat 20th at 1pm now. Makes sense as people care more about the league than BSN trophy! https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1CHWdTqEva/
