  2. Probably trying to sell one of the three home matches against Poole coming up in the next month.

  4. Agreed on the fans wearing the gear, I was stood in the first bit of the stand off the 2nd bend, just behind the half dozen Ipswich fans who had made the trip, (kudos to them), there were plenty around me wearing the club stuff, including a couple of the Witches fans. I wouldn't wear it at my age, 65, but would've loved some of the gear available now in my younger days. Back then the only choices were a black, white and red anorak, or a red, white and black anorak, oh and a bobble hat, now there are hoodies, t-shirts, bandanas, all kinds of hats etc. As someone pointed out, seeing the Poles twirling there scarves following a race victory is great to watch, it's just a whole different sport over there isn't it, something we can only dream of now. I can remember the sights and sounds of the BLRC at Hyde Rd, for me it's the only thing that comes close to what we see in Poland.
  5. I agree it's not easy to compete, but that isn't a reason to just not bother either. Worryingly, it comes across as if most involved in the sport share your way of thinking. You've named 2 clubs that BV have to compete against locally, and yet they seem to do a pretty good job. They're one of the biggest/most successful clubs in Britain. If they can manage that with 2 huge football clubs on their doorstep, what's stopping others? Who's competing locally with Kings Lynn, for example? Glasgow are another who have done very well, and another with 2 huge football clubs sharing the city. I assume it's also very difficult and costly to get a ticket to watch any of the clubs mentioned above? Surely that's something we could at least try and exploit? People want to watch live sport, they want entertainment, so why not give them a fast-paced motorsport, plenty of entertainment and all for X% of what it would cost to watch a football match? As I said in my first post though, it's not VFM to watch speedway at 99% of places in this country, so people won't bother.
  6. It is bordering on incitement in my opinion. Yes it is wrong what happened but it should not be continually aired in public.
  7. On the subject of merch I was in Loughborough last week and a chap in the high street was wearing his Leicester Lions shirt Had a chat with him about the play offs A rare event anywhere these days
  8. SCB should have revoked the guest facility for Foord the moment Workington’s match was off. However, SCB is not structured to work that way. Its modus operandi is after the event.
  9. And my case in point is CVS in speedway star today, not a idea unless he is advocating every rider buying and old jag and putting the bike on the back of it, he says the last time we did one big league the fans enjoyed it but it wasn’t a success, stupid me thought speedway was for the fans
  10. An issue like this can be kept in house between the BSPA/SCB and both clubs and dealt with properly. Yet Lanning and Brown continue to keep adding fuel to the fire asking for trouble in the return leg with these constant press releases.
  11. But the league positions were decided by teams using guests too? I'm not a fan of play-offs, but that's nothing to do with the guest situation.
  12. Industry Hills. It is basically a large cattle shed https://www.speedwaybikes.com/tracks/industryhills.htm
  13. Today
  14. Am sorry but u wouldnt take that abuse from someone in the street am sure the poole management would react in the same way ,some of those remarks arnt banter esp in a family sport !
  15. There's a few more than 6, personally I still enjoy the KO Cup due to the sudden death nature of the competition, it's still recovering after the authorities bizarrely scrapped it for a few seasons. But generally I get your point, this season has been particularly bad competitiveness wise with the top 4 being so clearly better than the bottom 3
  16. you are probably right but to be fair hes not wrong any club worth their salt would be finding these people and barring them hopefully its fired their riders up and they give poole a good hiding
  17. Me and my lad on Monday were actually joking at just how many "wear the club shop".. Plenty were doing so ... Granted most were fifty something's so were wearing a coat over the top to keep the cold out... Which maybe hid just how many were wearing some Aces memorabilia.. The issue the sport has was clearly highlighted on Monday when, on an evening where there was no threat to it not taking place, given the forecast from 24 hours before, not enough Aces and Ipswich fans could be arsed turning up for a POSF... The whole reason we go through a season of qualifiers is to get this part of the season meaning the competition itself must have so little kudos and credibility, even to some of the sports most regular followers, that so many simply couldn't see the worth in attending... The Ipswich fans stated a Monday night as being the problem, however, I am sure if it was the final then they would have attended.. (Maybe Phil was right in putting commercial reasons in front of everything else when he put Sheffield with Belle Vue!?).. There are only SIX meetings that actually mean anything all year, therefore when one of those six delivers such disinterest, those who run Speedway should really be very worried.. No point having the play offs if they don't generate more money than the tracks lose by fans not bothering to attend qualifiers..
  18. and as if by magic one of the people who is a massive part of the problem (head in sand) comes along with a laughing reaction those who run sponsor and are involved just cant see the damage thats being done to still be running semi finals of all three competitions in mid september is gross negligence
  19. Same at Oxford. There are numerous Reading (and even a few Swindon) fans who attend each week, wearing their old club kit.
  20. 100% spot on, most people seem to have missed this, the SCB are basically admitting they messed up (not for the first time).
  21. It's a shame that in the 10 years I've been going to the NSS I'm still unable to get around to the other side of the stadium for a nose around, I've never seen it... only from the South stand.
  22. Old factory site is interesting - what's the track in the US that appears to be in a factory? I'm sure it was used in the background of the True Detective series? Could that be an option (proper air extraction included of course) for the UK? Sound proofed walls and a filtrations systems wonder if anyone has ever explored that idea
  23. Leicester are pretty good for merch wearing I've only ever seen it open once in all my visits to Belle Vue, admittedly I only turn up just before start time and leave immediately afterwards but during the meeting and many interval breaks I've never seen it open
  24. I would also say (and I have said this in print) that Belle Vue has the best track shop in Britiah speedway (Glasgow are the only other serious contender)

Asking for trouble in the return leg by keep banging the drum.
  26. I'm afraid you are not going to get a new speedway stadium in the West Midlands conurbation area, there is simply not space for it unless an old disused factory site is used. Cradley are looking at somewhere in green space in Worcestershire, Wolves I'd imagine would have to do the same in South Staffs, by the i54 seems the most likely. Coventry have a chance as Brandon Stadium comes under Rugby Council who are supporting them.
