  1. Past hour
  2. With all due respect to the Speedway Star, by the time it goes to print and circulated, the information can be 'old hat' and the actual situation has perhaps moved on? 🤨
  3. Improving forecast but, call me cynical, still think rain may be the winner tonight. @TheWellBehavedWorrall if it's any consolation, I sat in the grand stand for Ben fund and it seemed like someone's turned the centre green audio down 😂. Not sure if it made the cheesy 80's recurring playlist better or worse 😂.
  4. Today
  5. Result does not shock me. Results like this will happen all season. And as I've said previously elsewhere. This will be a good close season where everyone has a chance of a top 4 or even finishing top. Why is this??? Well because all teams look crap. So gonna be a good season
  6. Yesterday
  7. Changing tracks always hurt the home team more. Before everyone jumps on the who’s to blame bandwagon. The three heat leaders only managed 6 wins between them. When their wins drop to 2nd places, the second string and reserves 2nd and 3rd places drop back also, hence 1s and zeros. Won’t be a season full of home wins as on any given day all bar Northampton (current team) can win away from home An unpredictable season ahead.
  8. Think we’ll see shortly that @PhilTheAce will be proved right on this one, no matter what’s been reported in the Speedway Star
  9. Forecast is fine. Comparing the presentation of second tier British speedway to pro darts is silly. The equivalent is pub darts. The presentation is done by amateurs, and for all its faults it’s no worse than plenty of football presentation. On the list of reasons British speedway is failing, it’s not making the podium. I will say I did enjoy Greg Blair at Berwick, but otherwise I’ll shove my face full of sugar donuts from the first bend and chat to people near me. Tigers win. Looking forward to the club anthem blaring out as people leave when the match ends.
  10. It doesn’t really matter who’s fault it is, it just needs sorting and sorting now, it’s a problem that should never raised it head in the first place but we are here and it needs a quick satisfactory solution
  11. Read with interest the comments from the new Ipswich promoter, he had a few strong comments to make in diplomatic language but it was clear what he as saying - BSPA a shambles!
  12. I usually get my copy of the Star from my local Tescos, imagine my surprise to be in a Sainsburys local a 5 minute walk from my house tonight and i see a copy of the star in there!! First time I have ever noticed in in there.
  13. Darts has definitely become a spectacle; a blur between sports and live entertainment, but they kick started the rejuvenation by leaning on the characters and the rivalries, big time. Taylor and Van Gerwen, for example. I feel like speedway has so much potential, but we’re falling terribly short on the absolute basics, like a complete failure to modernise presentation. Anyway, I’m looking forward to tomorrow night, ”Lively Leon Flint” and ”a win for the rider in orange, Ainsley Harriett, in a winning time of two hours” aside.
  14. This seems like making a mountain out of a molehill! All Phil did was comment on something he was told & have a discussion about it, he didn't declare it as fact did he?
  15. Flint and Etheridge have to gate to get points most weeks. Also Flint in Top5 won’t find the points as easy as last season.Dan Thompson is still improving though, has had a good start to the season.
  16. I agree. It doesn't appear to be the rider's fault though. Changing conditions and, alledgedly, not notifying Riders of the changes seems wrong, especially where Insurance is involved..
  17. Comets finally kick off their 2026 home campaign with a visit from the Scunny Scorpions. The North Lincolnshire club have had a mixed start to the season having ridden home and away against Redcar in the BSN Trophy and Poole in the Knockout Cup. After being knocked out of the Knockout Cup over two legs against the Pirates the Scorps will be looking to push us all the way in a quest to progress from the Northern BSN group. In No1 Josh Pickering they have one of the best riders in the league, an exciting racer Josh never gives up until he crosses the line, I think Comets fans will be in for some exciting races involving this man. So far Josh has generally lacked support from another quality heat leader as both Michael Palm Toft at 5 and young Luke Harrison at 3 have to date been somewhat ineffectual away from the Eddie Wright Raceway. Young Lukes last visit to the GT Tyres Arena seen him lift the U19 British Title beating Jody Scott and a certain Cooper Rushen. Coops is currently the talk of British Speedway and he guests in place of the unfortunate Vinnie Ford so the Comets fans will have a great opportunity to see what young Coops is all about. Hopefully Steve Lawson will have a good outside racing line prepared and for sure Cooper will not be the only rider to use it. Another rider who was involved in the U19 Title that day was the Scorpions No7 Ryan Ingram. Having just watched a video of Ryan beating Lewis Kerr at the EWR It certainly looks like this young man continues to improve so Cooper and Jamie will have their work cut out against Ryan and experienced reserve partner Simon Lambert who is usually solid at Northside. Prediction an entertaining 60-30 UTC !
  18. He’s on the current list so can opt in and out whenever he wants to. https://www.scbgb.co.uk/risingstars
  19. Track looked wet to start but after a couple of races when the dirt moved out it seemed to dry quick .Not sure if they we re expecting a little rain .on my way home had a few spots of rain on the car
  20. At some point we need to do well on our travels, here's hoping. Will more than 2 Scorpions put in a good away performance?
  21. Hasn't that happened somewhere before though?
  22. Best team won tonight. The writing was on the wall after the first 2 heats .For Leicester everyone chipped in no weak links tonight For Sheffield the top 3 have all got to be firing on all cylinders every match to carry flint Rowe and Etheridge . A few decent racers amongst the Aussie s for me Dan Thompson was the match winner for Leicester setting the tone in heat 1
  23. Against BV they were all 3 seconds faster than tonight’s. Not sure why track was so different
  24. Thought Woffy was quite refrained for him - think he only swore twice! Doesn’t bother me either way, he is what he is. Nice to hear/see that he is getting back on form Not an exciting meeting, track looked very dry and dusty with no grip - hence the times were all 3 seconds off the normal pace I’m guessing. Fair play to Leicester and a deserved win
