End of the day the ref makes the decision . If he is as some say being influenced by certain people then that’s his ownership of the situation. Greg being an ex rider yes he is entitled to voice his opinion as much as all the warriors do on here but he says it as he sees it. Been to plenty of places where the ref was influenced. Berwick on the wrong end of one at Armadale last year where after 10 mins the decision was overturned. No changing it now though. As for the meeting Berwick were ruthless out of the gate and if Reid hadn’t taken a bad one which was no fault of his own then it could have been a cricket score. Good luck to the riders today . The racing at Ashfield is always exciting but the crowds have been falling away recently. Friday was one of the hottest days of the year but the attendance was poor. I'm not sure why this is the case.

If the above regarding Mr Blair and the referee, them in charge should be looking into this and fine / suspend both patties. But I won't hold me breath as them in charge don't seem to care

Looking very vulnerable today now, really need Tate to step up and the skipper to be on his best form to have any chance of avoiding a home defeat. Dayle Wood improved as the meeting wore on last night and was riding with a lot of courage until he suffered bike issues in his final two rides. Hopefully he has his bikes sorted and we can celebrate some points from him again at reserve. Please support your team today, I believe that although weakened we will still see some entertaining speedway and that is what it is all about. UTC !

Thanks for that, interesting stuff. A good insight into how the Polish tracks (and all tracks) differ in shape and size can be found on the Speedway Challenge (SC26) game which can be downloaded on your phone, all tracks on there are based on the actual circuits and you have to 'ride' them differently on the game. The Polish tracks in particular all vary quite significantly.

Impartial announcer? Since when are there any of those? I'm sure they make any away fans feel welcome but they will always play up to the home fans. Sure he isn't as bad as the Wolves one was (Porky). Also with the guest announced you will do well just to win on the day!

There was certainly plenty of "incident" last night to keep folk interested even if the "racing" (passing) wasn't up to much. If it hadn't had taken them around 20 minutes per pop to replace the airbags there was nothing much else to complain about... they're certainly not going to get a job in an F1 pit crew with the amount of time it took them to replace the bags, they really need to be addressing that, I remember seeing the Birmingham track staff replacing an airbag in a matter of minutes a couple of years back, literally 2 or 3 minutes! Proving that it can be done. When you've had a 20 minute delay to replace an airbag, a 52 second race and then follow that up with a 10 minute track grade it's not really "fan friendly". Due to the tight, confined nature of the Plymouth track they really need to get on top of this issue.

An interesting take on circuits from Dan in this week’s Star. It’s good to hear an informed opinion from one of the most skilful & adaptable riders currently in action. Here’s what the world number 3 had to say. "We will see what happens with the new promoter," Bewley said. "But I would love to see more temporary tracks and have that bit of guesswork again, where no-one has an advantage." Someone who hasn't ridden a bike might also notice the lack of small tracks on the calendar and suggest this is also to the detriment of a championship largely raced on high-speed Eastern European ovals. Bewley has a very different take and insists the circuits are more varied than meets the eye. He said: "When it comes to tracks like Lodz and Gorzow before it, or even Torun, the closest track to those in Britain is probably Leicester. You actually really have to turn the bike a lot on those tracks. "People have this conception that all the Polish tracks are big and easy and you just ride around in a circle. It's really not very accurate. We go to Landshut and we're doing 80mph at the end of the straight but then we are under the bars to try and turn it. "All the tracks we ride have slightly different material. You could argue Belle Vue and Wroclaw are the same track but they are actually completely different with the material. There is a big difference between them. I actually think there is quite a variety between all the tracks now." In the 2000s, it was often widely assumed that Polish riders struggled to adapt to Britain's tight and technical tracks. But a new age of purpose-built speedway stadiums such as Torun, Gorzow and Lodz seems to have given those competing in Poland a more technical grounding. "Gorzow is more technical than Wolverhampton used to be, for example," Bewley said. "Wolves wasn't very difficult. People thought that I couldn't ride it. The difference was I wasn't very good off the start back then. I could easily ride it. The track was really not that difficult."If anything, Gorzow is probably a lot harder than most British tracks to ride. I know we're not going there for SGP this year but it's a real track. "The track in Lodz is a little bit like Eastbourne was - just a bigger version of it. It's similar in a way. The kerbs are a bit funky.If you put a third on to the size of Eastbourne, it probably wouldn't be far off this. A lot of tracks in Europe are more technical than people think." Bewley seems pretty adaptable wherever he goes, as a SP bronze medal in 2025 suggests. A famous win at Manchester's first event, coupled with second spot in Landshut, third places in Gorzow, Malilla and Wroclaw, and fourth at the finale in Vojens, earned him a first-ever podium.

From the Berwick match report, it gets worse… (not sure why they would even print this) “Initially referee Willie Dishington excluded the Bandits’ man but then controversially decided to review his decision, actually using camera footage from a supporter on the third bend as the official club stream didn’t have a definitive angle on the high speed crash. Even more controversially the Scottish official overturned his original decision and excluded Cook.” What an absolute sh1tshow. I’m guessing that’s the reason Greg Blair went into the referee’s box, as how else would the footage from the 3rd bend get to the referee. This sport is just so amateurish at times.

Personally I think Plymouth are doing a good job most of the time, it looked a decent crowd because it was, yes it is smaller than most but usually produces more passing than last night. The good thing about speedway in this country is the variety of tracks, doesnt mean the racing is poor or not enjoyable because it is a small track. You mentioned Peterborough which was a great track that seems to be lost now and unfortunately it is highly unlikely there will never be anyone watching speedway from the grandstand in the future.

You are so far off the mark with this statement it beggars belief,stinks of envy of a club on the up in these challenging times rather than a club in decline like the majority of teams,crowds and positivity. Plymouth bucking the trend long may it continue.

This would have made sense if the racing was exciting. To create exciting racing, you must be competitive; neither happened last night. Less than twenty minutes of racing within just over a three hours period (if the punter arrived as heat one started). The majority of the meeting was spent watching track staff replace two air fences and attempt to fix the starting tapes. Aye, I’m sure they’ll be back…
