He made the clubs adhere to a schedule to speed meetings up with set grading breaks. Introduced the centre green clocks. Had the sponsors banners made up in the pits so every club looked the same. Brokered deals with riders to ride in the premiership. For the grand final he had a magnificent looking stage not made of three pallets. Pyrotechnics and flames. Spoke to save Coventry stadium and offered to buy Ipswich with his own money. Introduced the media day. but apart from that not much. now the sport is imploding and going backwards under the current regime

Rider insurance (or lack thereof)
THE DEAN MACHINE replied to Dave_minall's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Although licences are through the ACU the international licence is different to a domestic one, on top of that you have to have a SCB licence, up till this year a rider was deducted a fee per race for his insurance which was through company’s like doodson’s or George burrows via the SCB, on top of that rider can (and should) get their own cover, this season the cover provided by the SCB has been scrapped and it’s now through the ACU and a higher fee for the licence, I think the problem is too fold, firstly riders were not told or at least barker says they weren’t and secondly it doesn’t cover lost earnings only hospital stay -

you have used that a few times now, get some new material . -
I would hope that the speedway promotion will be able to complete this season, if a sensible conversation can take place with Galliard Homes. The property developers will surely not have plans in place to do anything to the place before the Autumn - ? (Grasping at straws here)

Was there any extinguishers to put him out. -
Watching the stream, it looked like Lawson went in first and Tobias went in and got tangled up with both bikes.

Broken femurs tend to be getting hit by the bike dont they

its pathetic now getting in through south stand, now big queues , two people serving one person, one takes money then other one types into a lap top and prints ticket, mental. its like saying crucifixion, yes please, line on the left one cross each, thank you , wait where you going, we haven't made your cross yet. no need for it . they say its a trial run, i said for how long , rest of the season, pathetic. any way was ok meeting bewley on fire. -
Do we know yet how Thomson sustained these horrific injuries? Saw a Polish rider go under the fence on Instagram yesterday, I don't think he walked away from it!

Mixed fortunes for two Berwick riders racing today as Belle Vue took on Leicester. Meeting was won by the home side where Peter Kildemand scored seven while Nick Morris scored four and a bonus. Return match is tonight.

Rider insurance (or lack thereof)
Wee Eck replied to Dave_minall's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I don’t know enough about the insurance side but my understanding is that any ACU licenced rider needs start permission from the ACU for any event abroad. That would then suggest to me that they are covered by the existing personal accident cover available to all disciplines. Previously, ACU licensed speedway riders had to arrange their own cover -
Any more news on the lucky replacement? Also no disrespect to Tom who is trying his best, but I really do think a change to Max Perry would bring a crucial extra 3-4 points per meeting

A novel approach..... -
You’ve got to question what he improved for his £60k a year income from British speedway? The TV experience would have been managed by the TV company if he wasn’t about, only addition I can think of is the helmet colour rug 🙈
-
He doesnt blame him because Lewy is a liar. If you look at the footage Tobi moved out to stop Lawson's run round the outside.

Rider insurance (or lack thereof)
Triple.H. replied to Dave_minall's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Maybe they mean an ACU permit covers you if you are representing the Country abroad. You ride in a SGP,SEC,U21,U19 etc qualifier or finals you're representing your Country. Riding in the Edward Jancarz memorial for example you're invited to take part, but not representing the country. -

I ask the question as the statement reads to say only ACU permit meetings are covered, If that is the case then FIM & racing in another country would not be covered by an ACU permit. Even an FIM event in the UK may not be covered. -
Not that bothered tbh, with it being koc and the first leg earlier being so one sided it would have been dead rubber for the neutral.
-
Strange that Tobias doesn't blame him then!

Lawsons Danish side are a rider down now as Lawson stuffed him into the fence at Poole so he maybe called on more often
