What will 2026 UK speedway bring?
cowboy cookie returns? replied to Lionsman66's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
If Ipswich don’t come to the tapes in 2026 it will be my first year since 1989 not attending any live speedway. Yes I fell out of love with it in 2009 & only attending a handful of meetings between 2009 & 2017. I got back in to it as a semi regular in 2018 & ever present since 2022. Even though I’ll miss it, it appears Louis has done the right thing looking to get out. The whole thing is a shambles. -

Where it deserves to be?!? -
I agree with your final paragraph and at the end of the day it is only worth what someone is willing to pay. Where there is a very limited market of potential buyers (as with a Speedway promotion) the seller is not in a particularly strong position when it comes to getting a price that they may wish to achieve.

No I stated many times I don’t know why they insist on a premier league when it’s in this state but he like riders do seem to be making their decisions for themselves rather than the good of the sport, of course I’d be happy to listen to your or anybody’s explanation of why they insisting there is a premier league giving it was broken last year with tv money and more tracks -

A few weeks ago, Danny King was saying how much doubling up meant to him, as it meant he was able to go home every night and spend time with his family, rather than having to ride abroad and stay in hotels... I spent a few years, two weeks at a time, in hotels, working away, even when my kids were small, and got home for three days every other weekend... UK Speedway is simply set up for some promoters to have a hobby, and too many riders to be "full time"... £5k a night for some competitors in a sport with attendances plenty of level seven, and below, football clubs would be concerned about cannot be a sustainable plan surely? -
He was also a lying druggie that ruined our 2024 season. And let his wife make a show of herself on Facebook giving it laldy that it was over the counter pain medication that caused it

So the rumoured team is....... 1. Josh Pickering 11.46 2. Luke Harrison 4.97 3. Abblit 4.91 4.Connor Mountain 5.96 5. M. P. Toft 6.1 6. S. Lambert 4.48 7. Ryan Ingram 2.00 Total 39.88 Pickering's last Championship average was 9.42, Scunny will have a further 2 points to play with on the 1st of May, they will need to make a ruthless change early if they are going to be competitive.

So you believe Stuart Dickson wishes the Premier League to continue so that he can have/keep two jobs? And that’s it? -

Strange comment for you to make & only applicable to blind lemmings? Surely, if you don’t want it, then don’t buy it is the more sensible course of action isn’t it? -
The owners would not be selling only “fixed assets” but selling a “going concern” to include the assets and “good will” being an intangible value representing its brand, loyal customers, reputation and license to trade in speedway. Of course if no buyer can be found and the business closes then the “assets” are all that remains to be sold off in order to meet money owed to creditors.

In fairness he is probably worth his average, it seems low for his ability but like Lewis Kerr had some bad meetings for whatever reason. I really like your new number one, rode very well when guesting for Poole at Glasgow, I am sure he will be an excellent signing. It has been said many times about Troy's temperament even going back to his Kings Lynn days, he has never ridden for Kings Lynn since but he is a good rider when he is in the mood.

There in lies the problem. It might not be what everyone wants. So if you don’t want it , please come along and pay your dough anyway. That’s the attitude that’s ruined our once great sport. His surname is very apt. -
Troy, other than the start of the season in the KO comps, has been decent. He, on countless occasions, has made embarrassing results less embarrassing. This season he disappointed at redcar but the season before he was phenomenal there, beating both King and Wright. This season he was good at Plymouth, Oxford, Scunthorpe, Edinburgh and Glasgow.

Add a flood in the car park, and then the "Jenny" going kaput.. It'd "Pack 'em in" the week after, Pack 'em in.. -
Isn't it strange all the people who are knocking batch only talk about a couple of episodes of strange behaviour, but Troy has had some very good meetings for the Comets over the last couple of years, at Redcar he was superb same as at Oxford and Plymouth, true fans witness these meetings and don't take notice of hearsay. Agree can be frustrating when not in the right frame of mind, but 98% of the time I have no issues at home or away with Troy on a 7.10 average

Can you imagine it Harry as the new Clarkeson's farm, day one would be Harry sitting at his desk trying to figure out the rule book, asking the camera man if he know's Chris Harris mobile number, trying to tie up a deal with Laguta who want's a 5k guarantee per home match but doesn't fancy away meetings. Someone comes in to say the men's loos are blocked again and they need a wooden prop to hold the roof up, the weather doesn't look to sharp he better nip down to the old pit gate and start looking at it very carefully whilst on camera. Harry on the tractor going round every couple of laps there could be 3-4 seasons in this against the backdrop of trying to make a profit backed by Amazon's trillions. -
Good call. He was starting to show a few flashes of something before his bad crash on the home straight at Ashfield. On his average he could maybe double it.
