Ipswich Witches 2026
cowboy cookie returns? replied to TTT's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Hawkins is working with those two (Doyle & Ellis) on an individual basis in 2026 nothing to do with Ipswich. His post on x states on to the next chapter. -
Which folk should graciously accept.

Similar thing happened with Dillon Ruml was developing into a promising your rider but ended up with and average over five and no one seemed prepared to take a chance on him, I think if someone had perservered he could have developed into a seven point plus man at championship level.
-
Doyle and Ellis have signed in Poland, Sweden and Denmark so i belive that rules them out under the 3 league restrictions.
-
Anybody think comets were hoping for the points limit to be lifted ?
-
Only taken 2 years to come out with it, but there is a sort of apology there: Morris said: “I’m really excited to be back with Leicester, it’s a club I have loved racing for. “I feel I owe it to them and all the people who I let down, and everyone who has supported me, to put in a big season there. “I just want to work hard and win races, and being back with Stewart, the man who brought me to the UK when I was 15, I would love nothing more to win a league title for Leicester.”

Dean Have the utmost respect for you and certainly no intent to "shoot the messenger" However, and as a lifelong Aston Villa and Birmingham Brummies supporter, it does pain me to say this, but this sort of activity by anyone involved in Speedway / Bangers at The Wheels or elsewhere is not only going to end up in instant failure, it is also going to go in the face of a massive Private / Local and Central Government investment. The Plans for the site are incredible and will give the City and Region a Global presence. If I hold my nose and gag refles, I have to admit that this development will not only be the best in the UK but probably in Europe Central Government have allocated significant future funding for the Transport Network to link the City / KnIghthead Park / the NEC and Airport and Rail Network finally up via new Rail new Tram and new pedestrianised and cycle walkways. Local Government areinvesting millions in to similar projects. Knighthead have got planend investment in to the Stadium and massive local area in excess of £3bn They are looking not just at Soccer but facilities that will allow European / Commonwealth / Olympic sized bids and other Sports and the biggest Concerts etc. They appear to be close to announcing the proposed Stadium and Training Complexes as the new National home for the Soccer Lionesses from 2032. With the connections they have in US Sport (Tom Brady) there is a genuine move to give Birmingham the UK US Football franchise long promised to London and also the option for other US Sports including Basketball. They have the Film / TV Industry nailed down too with links to the Creator of Peaky Blinders (btw writing the next Bond Movie) and much more. As much as it pains me to say it, from a football and speedway perspective, any attempt to stall this would not land well with anyone in or around the City. If Speedway / Stocks have a sense of commonsense they will drop this, and seek a compromise site elsewhere in brown belt land and in fact there may well be options just outside of the scope for this development on the Airport side adjacent to NEC / Airport (where noise would not be an issue) . Wheels has been an option since the Speedway closed there, of it wasn't a considered plan then . now is certaintly too late. A site adjacent to A45 corridor around the Airport / NEC perimiter might be the best option right now!

I thought the picture showed Doyle and Ellis?
-
Hawkins saying that he's working with Doyley and King this year points towards a Doyle U-Turn imo.
-
Thinking about it, they should really have a rising star position in the championship. Number 7 goes to an up and coming rider from the NDL level.

But Jacob could be in the team if the team was built in a different way. He could be the 5th member of the current team leaving a bit more for the last two, if they have gone with Cook then it leaves very little for the last two. If Bowes starts poorly Jacob could end up at Poole. Plenty of options.

On our first conversation with the stadium itself they were quick to point out it wasn’t them that kicked it out,it came from 2 Americans at entain who wouldn’t know speedway from a toilet duck so from that you can only think it’s some sort of financial decision and as documented last year those 2 people no longer work at entain, I was hoping that monmore was just a franchise of entain and make their own decisions as to what happens at the stadium but seems that isn’t the case, as long as the stadium is still there we will not give up

2026 Premiership is Go! - At least 5 teams
Phannan replied to RoundTheBoards's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Couldn’t keep me away up to 5 years ago . Then it became the odd meeting because of work commitments. That effort to go now though has gone. The lack of respect for the people who pay the wages , us, is unacceptable. Kept in the dark, only informed as a last result. The lack of ambition and direction in the sport is unbelievable. Clubs telling the sport where they’ll race and where they won’t. I find that laughable for a so called professional sport. It’s on its last legs as is my enthusiasm for it. Remembering Those days in the 70’s watching Bradford Northern at Odsal are great memories. It’s a totally different proposition these days. -

Same as our group Dean. We used to go anywhere to watch any teams so when Wolves shut I thought I'd do more of the same. The first season I went to 2 meetings then last season none at all. I'm thinking of going to a few next year but who knows , I might never go again -
Shame Jacob hasn't as yet secured a UK team place but Speedway is a dynamic sport injuries and all so something may yet transpire throughout the season. The continued reduction in teams doesn't help either. Really need a few more tracks but that is another story. Would like to see Comets have an NDL team this coming season if affordable, also more taster sessions for youngsters wanting to try out the sport, but this is a big commitment time wise and financially and there is little help with costs for any such initiatives.

Agreed I can see no logic in selling possibly the most successful club in the UK with infrastructure already in place and then putting your sale proceeds into somewhere with zero speedway history , if Coventry revival was the rumoured sixth club and the stadium wasn't falling down then yes maybe. -

Earlier in the winter there was a thought that radical change could be coming. Its certainly been a radical winter a u turn on ownership at Sheffield, Louis leaving Ipswich, Ipswich confirmed as running but no idea who is running it. As far as radical change in how the sport is run which is needed well that’s zero change. I find it staggering that it’s more of the same.
