While other countries have next season already sorted, thus enabling riders to organise work / accommodation / sponsors etc … Good old England has to wait another ten days, ( which is a lot earlier than previous years )

 

We all know the promotors have basically sorted it out already but what do you think next year will bring ? In any normal, well run sport the season on season rules tweaking would be easy to predict but this is speedway we're talking about .

The AGM used to be about the 27th November, but this year they have brought it forward and already have most items discussed at a Pre AGM meeting. The season officially hasn't ended and could overlap the new AGM, and yet you still moan about it, when other countries seasons have actually finished. FFS.

Hopefully the 'powers that be' will have learn't from previous mistakes.

 

At least the Meeting is earlier this year, so that is a start.

The AGM used to be about the 27th November, but this year they have brought it forward and already have most items discussed at a Pre AGM meeting. The season officially hasn't ended and could overlap the new AGM, and yet you still moan about it, when other countries seasons have actually finished. FFS.

Let us hope that this year they make changes for the good of the Sport and not to just benefit a few promoters looking after themselves,

Promotion is the act of encouraging something to happen or develop.

 

Promoters are supposed to help forward or encourage (enterprise or result); publicize and sell (product); initiate (project).

 

In the Speedway Star several articles have been printed regarding the lack of support for teams up and down the country and also several letters published that state no local publicity has been made regarding meetings or events at tracks.

 

Preaching to the converted is witnessed in churches up and down the country every Sunday, where attendances have dwindled also.

 

Until heads are taken out of the sand by the ones who run the sport nothing will happen.

 

Changing the rules year in and year out will not resolve issues.

 

Making a change in League structure and race days, will help in short term with personal finances for the converted.

 

EMPHASIS must be made by every club to get out into their communities and PROMOTE the clubs.

 

 

 

NEW, YOUNG, ENERGETIC AND ENTHUSIASTIC SUPPORTERS ARE REQUIRED FOR NEXT SEASON.

 

 

 

TO ACHIEVE THIS IT BEGINS AT THE END OF THIS SEASON.

Hope they don't change the heat formula in the Premier League if they bring a draft system in at reserve.

 

Please please please....... don't introduce draft reserves at Premier League level and the dreadful associated heat format.

 

Simply revert any foreign rider to their original assessed average if their CMA has fallen below that level and assess British riders with over 100 Premier League matches at 5.00.

 

This will naturally open spaces for 3.00 British youngsters and increase the pool of riders. It would also stop British youngsters being dropped as soon as they improve their average to bring in a "more experienced" alternative. It might also help with work permits as permit riders would never drop below 7.00.

 

One of the great things about 7 man teams is that you can build different types of teams. Not everyone can afford an out and out no. 1. Those who can't go for strength in depth. It's interesting to see different team compositions. The draft system and heat format make team building more generic, everyone is looking for next seasons Gomolski.

 

Great to see more British talent but not at the expense of the product. The Premier League in its current format already develops British talent to a certain standard. The failing is in developing the likes of Auty, the Worralls etc etc to the next level of International class racers. That's been the problem for years now. There are loads of examples of wonderkid youngsters who develop quickly but who never get any better than Premier League no. 1's.

 

I'd also like to see a change to match scoring trialled (perhaps in the KOC). Still 3-2-1 points per heat but matches would be won by the team with the most heat wins (i.e. 5-1's or 4-2's). Should make for closer matches with score lines like 6-5 etc, and the potential for more last heat deciders. Using this format for this seasons Elite league Grand Final would have resulted in Belle Vue winning a last heat decider.

Absolutely I think this is the one failing of the draft system we have now, maybe we could go to sixteen heats and have one extra reserves race later in the meeting for example, but the other fifteen heats should stay as they are now.

I'd now like to see the top fast trackers become pukka reserves so they can move up and down from the top 5, seems the next step to me?
