Jaizer 2,864 Posted June 30, 2022 The council want them there, it's in an industrial estate which, from memory, is pretty far from the nearest housing scheme. It's using up ground probably otherwise been left abandoned and overgrown. What's to object to?
Steve Shovlar 10,439 Posted June 30, 2022 Great news Edinburgh are sorted for next season. The management must have been working 20 hours a day to find the land, get all relevant planning permissions signed off, an architect to submit stadium designs, company to manufacture stadium, and get the track in place. All going to be done in 9 months. Scotland clearly has a better system in place compared to England where it would take numerous council meetings, planning meetings by the dozen with a complaints process etc and lots of NIMBYS. To get past all that is remarkable so I doff my cap to the Edinburgh management. So pleased to hear the Monarchs will be at tapes for 2023, along with Workington, Eastbourne and hopefully Swindon returning. Great stuff.

Steve Shovlar 10,439 Posted June 30, 2022 Has planning been granted at this new Edinburgh site? With a clean canvas the management have the opportunity to put in another Belle Vue of the north, albeit on a smaller scale. As long as they keep that David Hemsley away from marking the track out! Quite right. Maybe they could get Chris Morton to help out. Listening to him and how he helped recreate the old Hyde Road circuit when they built the NSS was fascinating.

Doc Bridget has helped with design of the track, one of the best in the business so we’re in safe hands.

Look at Belle Vue, which took almost ten years from the plans being unveiled and the first meeting and the opening night that almost never happened. Do you think Edinburgh would announce this and have plans and drawings done without thinking about planning permission?
cyclone 943 Posted June 30, 2022 (edited) Some relevant points disclosed by the Projector Director have been reported in the Edinburgh Evening News include:- "Prospective buyers of the vacant site at Deans must submit their proposals to West Lothian Council no later than July 28" "There is a process through the council where they select their bidder and that is ratified, so all of that will happen in the next couple of months." "Through word of mouth there is competition for the site but we believe we have a strong case" As the above confirms, the Promotion have been transparent in their Proposal & Plans, that acquiring the site, together with appropriate planning permission, is not yet a fait accompli. Personally I'm highly impressed with their approach, which will hopefully encourage all fans to support this either financially or with other means of assistance. Reported feedback from local councillors indicates they are aware of the local community initiatives that the Club have been involved in for many years, and hopefully these will be considered favourably when a final decision on who is offered the site is taken. Steve Shovlar 10,439 Posted July 1, 2022 So they haven’t yet acquired the land to build the stadium and there is competition from other businesses to acquire the land? Fingers crossed these other businesses don’t have deeper pockets.

The closing date and things like that are just part of the process I believe.

Edinburgh have jumped the gun here and its led to people believing its in the bag when it's anything but 2
