..... f the negative comments seem to be coming from the Poles, and yet the same people seem happy for him to resume racing in their native Poland. How does that make sense?

Not all Polish fans are happy for him to resume racing in their native Poland. Opinions are divided in the same way as in England.

He he has a Visa then?

Saifutdinov is to return to the British league after a twelve-year break. (…) There were immediately speculations about the other two Russian speedway riders with a Polish passport and the potential chances,  that is Artem Łaguta and Vadim Tarasenko could also sign a contract with an English or Swedish league club. (…) we inquired at source whether such a transfer would be possible and whether the announcement of Emil Sayfutdinov's contract at Ipswich Witches is formally approved by the FIM. Mikael Karlsson, head of the track racing commission of the Swedish motorcycle federation, spoke briefly but to the point on this matter.

- According to the information I received from the FIM, three (Russian)riders with a Polish passport are allowed to start only in the Polish league.

He repeated this answer to us twice for the sake of clarity. SVEMO does not expect Russian speedway riders with a Polish passport to join any Bauhaus-Ligan team in the 2023 season. Therefore, we have to wait for official announcements from the international motorcycle federation, and we hear in the environment that the consent for Sajfutdinov is a matter of a few days. For now, however, all formalities are beyond any binding

There are two types of people in this world. Those who believe all the propaganda they hear on television, and those who don't...

But it is mainstream media Einstein. Steve was saying we should look elsewhere for our info. Which is what Orion was replying to. And he was spot on with the source of most of your crazy posts

Not just a Polish licence and not even a new Polish licence. He has been a Polish citizen and licence holder since 2009

A point that could swing any argument against him is where he resided during 2022. I don't know the answer but prepared to plays devil's advocate

Did he live in Russia or stay as a Polish resident? Given he couldn't ride anywhere he had no reason not to "go home" if that's how he saw it

Doesn't prove any definitive reason to continue his ban or not but would add weight to the debate of either viewpoint IMO

Maybe you should trot over to the Ukraine thread to post your views. This is actually an Ipswich speedway thread for us happy Witches fans. :)

Glad you’re so happy with your teams choices and actions, have you ever stopped to think the timing of the announcement was carefully planned for the anniversary of the invasion for maximum media exposure?

I’m also happy, safe in the knowledge that CVS would never stoop so low.

There's so much Sayfutdinov will have to go through to get a work permit.

He'll be invested as to family history i.e. Oligarch family members, any serving family members from Cold War era on, financial history etc etc.

Lots of hoops

On the one hand, prior to the invasion of Ukraine there were thousands of young Russians working in IT and finance jobs for non-Russian companies in the UK, a large proportion of them in and around London. Not multiple property-owning super-rich or agents of the Russian state. I presume they are still here, unless having made their own decision to leave.

Then you have the head of the IOC apparently absurdly suggesting that Russian competitors could be allowed to compete as neutrals at the Paris olympic games in 2024, seemingly not realising that in a great many cases, those competitors would still be supported and even employed by the Russian state.

Emil S seems to be an instance falling in the middle. I presume he still retains a Russian passport along with his Polish one. He has represented Russia relatively recently, and has not seemingly renounced his Russian-ness. But I'd doubt if he is currently funded or supported by the Russian state. Where does he keep his money? Does he have any private backing from Russian companies or Russia-domiciled individuals? Where did he live and get income from during 2022? Surely these kind of things would need to be clarified before clearance could be given - or maybe they already have been?

Seems a little bit of envy on here, great work by Ipswich to create such interest and excitement for British speedway:t:
