That is the danger, you can be too good, and ride yourself out of a job

In the recent SS article Billy Janniro tells that he always let his Team mate win when the circumstances arose ,and settled for the bonus point to keep his average down while not affecting his pay packet, but ensuring he had  place the following season.

As a matter of interest when were bonus points not included in the overall CMA? I always remembered it the case back in the seventies/eighties otherwise the "star" riders wouldn't have been content to sit behind their partner thus potentially lowering their average.

Have seen it many times over the years at Poole where a rider would shut off to let his partner win

Richard Lawson confirmed - what a surprise and a New Year treat - it was definitely worth delaying that announcement to keep us all on edge and interested in what's going on :-)

Very pleased to see him back but this drip feeding is a nonsense - actually really interested in the next 2 to see which "experts" are correct

Poole team much weaker this season and reliant on both the Cook's stepping up as they have let a top heatleader go

The Cook's doing both leagues will see their form suffer possibly.

Poole will be there or thereabouts as they will make changes but they cant be considered favourites with that side this season

After some digging 7.91 for the lions 7 97 for poole seems low for his high scores !

Regarding Poole take a look at the Speedway Stats Website as gives an interesting insight into his Poole AV.

Over 38 matches - 9.24 CMA and 9.87 incl BP.

But if you look at his av when the play offs started go to his 2022 stats and look at the scores he racked up in both Champ and Prem from August onwards. None of his play off scores go into the GSA average as only regular season scores count.

You could also argue the same on GSA's about both Ben & Zach Cook if you look at their av in the play offs.Look at Zach from August onwards in the 2022 section of his history. This is a guy that at one stage was expected to start  the 2023 season at reserve.

The Speedway Stats.co.uk site is quite revealing on players points at different parts of the season, and as we know as play offs do not count in the GSA its an interesting tool for team building.

Scored big when it mattered in end of season play offs and KO Cup where averages don’t count.Pooles  Top3 all took turns of dropping points early season.IM0.Did Danny Ford not say he would have had all 3 back if the hadn’t reduced Team Total Averages for this season.Tells you something IMO.

Having these two words in the same sentence contradicts itself. I guess you just doubted your opinion in the end to add 'possibly' onto it!

I think having the extra meetings will help them progress.

The DU's should have one average...

Their 2nd Div one timesed by whatever the conversion rate is...

So if a six in Div One and rate is 150% then they are a nine point rider in Div 2..

It would immediately reduce the number of "big scoring" heat leaders per team and share them around..

No point having a conversion rate and not using it...

They could even take the mean % difference between all the DU's and make that the following seasons conversion rate..

A true rate based on performance..

And I would also suggest it would highlight any "coincidental lowering of averages" in Div 1 quite easily given they would need to do the same in Div 2 to appear "legit"...

Not weaker in my view, Ben Cook can easily step up, he was riding like a heat leader at the end of the season and more racing will help in view, riding in the Premiership can only make him better.

I don't think we will need to make changes, we could have done last season with the way some of our riders were performing but we kept faith and it worked out pretty well. Also our number 7 is better, more experienced rider although I hope Ablitt will be back at some point in the future.

He's made some very good points in that post. Perhaps wait for him to do some actual trolling before getting your knickers twisted?
