Poole v Glasgow Championship Final 2nd Leg 11/10/23

Wonder where I was?

Just got back and first of all congratulations to Glasgow on their title. By far seemed to want it more, and although Pirates rallied in the first leg, the damage was done when the Glasgow track suited the home riders. We were the better team through heats 9-15 of the first leg, and all of the second, but meetings are run over 30 heats and not 22 and Glasgow fully deserved it this year.

Bomber was a second faster than any other rider on show tonight. He would have gone through the card like he did in the first leg if he had really had to. But the job was already done and it was raining quite hard. Why take an unnecessary risk? Brennan and Tarasenko backed him up and it was job done. Pirates by comparison seemed languid in both meetings.

Poole again threw points away but even if it had been all four back when Worrall was excluded, it wouldn’t have made any difference, just narrowed the size of the victory.

Since the signing of Tarasenko, Glasgow have been by far the strongest team in the league and as I predicted when he was signed they would go on and lift the title.  Proved right unfortunately for us.

Next up the KO Cup and a trip to Scunthorpe. Better raise our game or that will be heading up north as well. Well done Tigers.

Fair play to you

Course it did and its hilarious how Gavan thinks it didnt. Not only did he replace a rider who could barely score a point away from Glasgow , he also outscored his replacement at home and pushed a struggling Brennan to number 2.

As said, the Glasgow team was fully legit and the better side over the two playoff legs. They pulled off a masterstroke signing. Its the powers that be that let it happen who need to be looked at.

can you imagine Poole had signed him for Rowe? There would have been the biggest meltdown from non Poole fans we have ever seen!

Yes but we can’t say too much about it for a couple of reasons.
1. It was allowed, god knows why, but it was, so is legit.

2. If we moan about it, it looks like very sour grapes. So best not really use it at the moment and let Glasgow fans have their moment of glory.

Totally agree about your final line.

Well done to the Tigers.

History mean that we were all waiting for the Poole comeback, but give the boys credit, as they didn’t let them back into the final.

Ignoring the usual idiotic point scoring on here, the request to blame the authorities for Tarasenko being allowed to race for us (can you imagine, the very cheek of it !), and the frankly classless comments on BSN from Roynon , as Glasgow go to collect the trophy, that “Poole are club like no other” (who hires these inarticulate people anyway?) , how about just acknowledging that we were the better side over the two legs?
A special shout out to Harris, Brennan (who I’ve been concerned about) and Complin, who showed what being a team is all about.

I hope the Facenna’s have booked the riders, officials and such an overnight in Poole.

I’ve got visions of Ace Pijper, fully kitted in his race suit, trying get into a nightclub using Lee Complin’s ID.

So by Shovlars logic they were the better team in 22 of the heats over the two legs but still lost that actually makes it even worse for Poole if you went by that logic.

Deluded but very gratifying and hilarious at the same time.

What a speedway rider Chris Harris has been and is, will be a sad day when he packs in.

I can't see him packing it in for a good few years yet, Rides in both leagues and does Longtrack and Grasstrack meetings so he obvs loves it and the constant travelling isn't getting to him yet

Good to see the Tigers land the title. Reward for all that their owners have pumped into the sport over the past few years. Also pleased for those fans who have followed them through the ups and downs, especially Paulco!

Poole have had more than their share of the trophies so good to see them shared about.

Never heard the comment but that’s pretty classless if he did ,but not surprising.

For an impartial broadcast it’s pretty poor.

Maybe Jose could talk him into it, but I'm guessing the Facenna's deep pockets are more appealing lol

You do know Edinburgh could've signed him ?

A difference between could’ve signed him and being financially able to afford to do so.
