With all the early call offs there must be an agreement between clubs to save as much as they can.. And to be fair, myself and around 500 others I am sure would have given tonight a swerve if the weather looked ropey.. The sad thing is not one rider there tonight would attract 500 extra punters over and above the usual crowd yet the weather will remove 500 due to the fact we have all felt conned in the past by getting meetings on at all cost or watching nonsense racing to get a result... The irony is that using just a fraction of the TV money over the years for track covers would, I am sure, have given greater confidence to those 500 to attend, as more chance of a meeting being on if all the rain has fell pre start time, yet millions have been spent on riders who have very little impact on the crowd levels.. A strange business model indeed...3 points

I don't think you will have to worry about the PL matches finishing that quick! It rained all the way through so the sensible thing to do was get a move on if the match was to be completed. Well done to all involved. If it had been a PL match we would have been waiting around in the rain to see if the riders were going to come out for the next race ~ an hour's delay to see if the rain would ease off ~ then home soaking wet after seeing 10 heats .........if we're lucky.3 points

Hmmm, I tend to agree with you however reading back your wording on some of your posts i would suggest you reign it in a little. The guys who were posting are decent reliable who don't post BS. Yes we were all concerned about Doyle but there are many people on here who know the Polish scene very well and have direct connects into the meetings and deserve respect and not to be sniped at. HenryW and Racers and Royals are certainly two people who know what they are talking about and don't deserve snarky remarks. Anyway we are all glad he is ok and we move on......3 points

The Coventry meeting yesterday had no effect on the decision to postpone the Leicester vs Poole meeting tonight. The forecast has always been for constant rain in Leicester from lunchtime continuing all day which has proved accurate so correct decision. I am sure most of the riders will be glad of the early decision too as although most will have still flown back into the U.K. this morning they can go straight to their U.K. bases to relax rather than travel all the way up to Leicester for the meeting to be called off2 points
-
Nothing is the answer. If you live in Leicester you will know that it started raining at 12.30pm and hasn't stopped since so it was a good decision to call this off early. The fact there was racing on the circuit yesterday makes no difference to the amount of rain that's fallen. It would still be soaking wet if the track had stood empty all day and you can't prepare it when it's chucking it down with rain.2 points

Oh Didums. I sussed you out a long time ago and you can’t handle the fact I call you a Poole hating troll with never anything good to say about the club. Proved by the fact you are really only ever on the Poole threads and rarely venture anywhere else.2 points

I am neutral speedway fan of over 40 years and I was on the 1st Bend. No one was 'clamped' on the kerb. Watch the video. The point of contact was just slightly over half way across the track as I was stood directly in line with it. JBA did drift wider than he had done in the 3 previous laps however you could argue he was slightly in front, maybe. However, what is certain is that he did know that Worrall was on his outside and he did clip him. Not necessarily on purpose but certainly enough for Worrall to be offset and then with no where to go when the bike straightened up. Worrall looked really good up this point and proper #1 for Scunthorpe so I hope he gets better soon.2 points

When you have such huge gaps in the fixtures it makes sense to run meetings profitably in good weather than struggle through in front of a pitiful crowd and lose a packet. Supporters have seen too many 10 heat scrambles or call-offs once they've paid their money and avoid meetings when the weather is doubtful. Decades of neglecting customers and "we've not had a drop of rain all day" messages are now coming home to roost.2 points

To be honest you know nothing about Wolves finances, which were boosted by another semi-final and grand final appearance aswell as the home leg of the KO cup final at the end of last season. You are adding 2 and 2 together and coming up with 5. The decision to go with Jacob as our number 1 was mainly to do with averages as we wanted to keep the core of the team as stable as possible although admittedly a little bit to do with the uncertainty over the BT tv deal.Had we gone with Freddie and his average the rest of the team would have been compromised. Also I did my bit last season, took a friend with me midway through last season and he didn't miss a home meeting after that, regularly taking his family with him2 points

If we take the number of times a team's riders have been chosen, and use this as a form guide, the league table should finish as:- 35 Birmingham 33 Mildenhall 30 Belle Vue 26 Eastbourne 14 Kent 10 Coventry 6 Plymouth 2 Buxton 2 Isle of Wight 2 Stoke2 points

Thought I'd do a bit of analysis on which riders are being picked most often. Not surprisingly, the highly rated 3.00 riders are most popular and fill 3 of the top 4 places. (Kyle Bickley being the only non-3.00 rider in the top 4 picks). Adam Roynon is the highest averaged rider to be picked. chosen by 2 people on 9.67. (Max Clegg, Luke Bowen and Ben Morley are other 9+ riders to be picked twice). 23 teams entered means 161 places available (160, as one person picked a rider who isn't in a NL team). But out of those 160 place, only 32 riders have been chosen. They are (with number of times chosen) :- 21 Drew Kemp 18 Jason Edwards 17 Kyle Bickley 17 Leon Flint 10 Jack Smith 9 Danyon Hume 8 Mitchell Davey 7 Jack Thomas 6 Danny Phillips 6 Jordan Jenkins 4 Jamie Halder 3 Tom Brennan 3 Georgie Wood 3 Henry Atkins 3 Danny Ayres 3 Taylor Hampshire 2 Ben Morley 2 Matt Marson 2 Max Clegg 2 Charlie Brooks 2 Luke Bowen 2 Adam Roynon 1 Josh Bailey 1 Alex Spooner 1 Layne Cupitt 1 Tom Perry 1 Richard Andrews 1 Connor Coles 1 David Wallinger 1 Anders Rowe 1 Joe Lawlor 1 Ben Woodhull2 points

Good news and another feather in the cap for the promotion. It was great when the club hosted FIM and Ben Fund meetings. This might not be on the same scale but still a meeting to look forward to.1 point

Very positve comments from fans that went to the meeting. Hopefully better weather next Sunday and a few more pop along, Eastbourne will be a much sterner test.1 point

Unfortunately the rules don’t allow us to substitute a 8.66 rider in place of a 6.77 rider though I agree that if we could, it would go some way to addressing the massive disadvantage we find ourselves in. Being benevolent I’d happily go with your previous assessment of Steve using his scores over the years, around 7 I think. That’s from four rides whereas with Steve being our best rider at poole he’d line up in heat 15 and ride the double for us again. A 7 point average over 5 heats gives a figare of around 9, then add in the extra 3 TR points brings his match contribution to 12. I’ll go with your 7 point average and say if Lawson scores 12 or more then we haven’t lost out, much.1 point

They thumped us several times last year!?! Including at Wimborne Road! Now we have dispelled the troll, we can get back to proper Poole v Belle Vue chat! I do see Poole winning handily on Wednesday, 53-37. UP THE PIRATES!1 point

Slight exaggeration. Even taking the Gavan route and basing Worrall's average on his 16-pt score only, remove the tactical points, and bonus points (thanks SS), his one-match CMA, at the peak of his powers at Poole, would be 8.66. Pretty sure there are multiple riders in the league who averaged similar, so "utterly irreplaceable" is pure hyperbole.1 point

Bear in mind that yesterday's meeting took place in deteriorating rainy conditions - although the rules in 2018 dictate meetings should be completed more quickly than before, yesterday may well have been particularly speedy to try and ensure completion.1 point

Good sensible decision if very disappointing. Saves a lot of Poole fans a wasted journey. Pirates might get our season underway some time in May, at this rate.1 point

Lol! Fricke hates the place? Have you asked him? An u21 world champion. He should breeze around Wimborne Road. No excuses. Only a few weeks ago you were singing the praises of Tungate when he won the Aussie title. An Aussie champ should breeze around Wimborne Road. No excuses. Starke knows Wimborne Road like the back of his hand. Bewley is no slouch at Wimborne Road. Belle Vue are not affected by the loss of their third heat leader. It’s not as though they are missing Cook or Fricke. They have riders who can easily cover for their third heat leader, who you are making out would have got double figures!1 point

Yep probably on par with What Mick Horton said was break even, you can add a few more to that when weather improves. Decent meeting despite the conditions, if it was a premiership meeting I doubt it wouldve got that far. Fair play to all the riders for keeping it going.1 point

A quick read of the rules, and this area is in bold so is new this year, is that you can use a guest rider from any league provided that rider is in a declared 1-7. The 1.3 conversion must be applied between the 2 leagues if he does not have an average for that league. This means, if available through visa or other racing commitments, we could, theoretically, use Kildemand at home & Kasprkak away. We just miss out on using R Lambert or M Fricke for home meeting by 0.01 & 0.02 respectively.1 point
