I'm not sure why they haven't done one for Stefan, having been out for most of the season I'm sure he needs it more than Harris. Very strange!6 points
-
I dont get why Bomber is deemed worthy of a collection but Nielsen wasn't. Harris still riding and earning. I suppose though unless you are Darcy Ward at Poole then its out of sight out of mind.6 points

When I was a kid the pre meeting parade was a highlight for me...and the line up of bikes and riders at the tapes being introduced....it's a chance to see the riders and not just as faceless individuals.. It's important for fans to identify riders and to identify them as riders for their team...riders today are seen as guns for hire...riding because it's convenient for them to be at a club but with no affinity to it all...changing rules and points limits don't help but it all creates a lack of bond between riders and fans at club level...don't get too attached because they'll be off next season.. It needs to get back to being a proper team sport..the riders are your team..they are your riders with a proper bond between the two...it's far from that at the moment ..plus when I was young Saturday night at 7 was speedway....I'm only a casual follower now but I don't have a clue when meetings at home are scheduled any more..6 points

A shame a few Poole fans can’t keep their gobs shut at times. Caused problems for the club.6 points

LIKED and admired him. Could have a blazing row and the next minute sit down for a cup of tea with Bob and his wife Margaret. Speedway owes the Dugard family a massive debt, not least because of Bob.5 points

Its a sad day when the truth is an incovenience Also rather crass to blame those fans - any problems were self inflicted by the club. Any responsibility lays solely with the club4 points

Was thinking the same thing. Speedway in the UK is not dying it’s virtually dead. Would never have missed a meeting back in the day, I’ve been to one meeting this season and didn’t enjoy it. Same teams, same riders week in week out. With fewer teams than ever before and a complete lack of riders I can’t see speedway continuing as a professional sport in this country much longer. Sad, but it’s been coming for a long time.4 points

Thanks for travelling up and giving your views. From what I heard, above the noise and general atmosphere, all riders interviewed over the tannoy thought the shape of the track was better but there were a few bumps. Track record was broken with ease by Tai and most races quicker than normal meetings, as you might expect. Cookie showed what could be done when he finally got his set-up right with him getting a standing ovation for his win over holder in Heat 15. Don't think any Glasgow fan could believe that Steve Worrall was in the GB team. I know its good to be loyal but Steve isn't the Steve that rode with style last year. Hes come back from a bad injury and putting him out against Australia can't have done his confidence any good. Finally a well done to everyone that helped get the meeting on plus all the volunteers.4 points

Is a question just an opinion?? are you suggesting that due the above mentioned, teams are knocking Scunthopre riders off? if you are that i think is one of the most stupid posts ive ever read i dont for a minute believe any rider in either league would be ``forcefull`` just because of Scunthorpe riders earn money by scoring points and race hard, accidents happen3 points

I will just be happy for Danny to be able to ride for anyone - even Peterborough3 points

least said the better …. well done Glasgow …….. cook as ever a joy to watch (if only he would ever become a diamond) for us only really lindgren can hold his head up high and as for sarjeant …. what a total arse ……… he knew (or should have) known summers and lindgren were flying up his inside and outside ………. so to throttle off 1st and leave lindgren no space was simply irresponsible and totally unprofessional ……… and then instead of offering a sorry didn't know you were there …. he acted as if he was the wronged party ……… as I say ….. what a total arse …………… probably just as well he 'missed' the gate in heat 9 as im sure luddo would have helped him around2 points

Amazing what a rider can score when he hasn’t got someone trying to take him out. Nico could race without having to look over his shoulder at every turn. Ipswich would’ve won this meeting if they had some reserves. 13+3 against 2+1 was the difference. Some good close racing and our top five was more than a match for Peterborough’s, but 2 points is better than none.2 points

Aarnio & Kus were outwith the control of Newcastle , from that respect what do you expect them to do ?. As for crowd levels its not just Newcastle they are in decline all over so why single them out, or has something else upset you.2 points

What turnstiles? It was a car-park issue; nothing to do with entrances ("turnstiles" or otherwise). And that, in turn, was a Showground thing and nothing to do with Panthers. Same old, same old.......grab any stick that floats by and give Panthers a little whack, eh?2 points
-
I would swap him for King , Any NO;1 who takes 5 rides to score 7 on his own track is not worth another season at the showground IMO. I must say it was an excellent meeting and neither side deserved to lose and as I mentioned in a previous post a lot would depend on which Heeps turned up and he certainly made the difference.2 points

Wow how wrong were some if not most of us? Well done witches, and praise to Heeps who it seems made a meeting drawing contribution.2 points

Harris is getting both i think. There is a just giving type page set up, where the min you can donate is £2 and also getting a donation from REF as well. But a few Poole fans on twitter have said they are going to make their own donations to Stef as he should receive something!2 points

For me last night at Mildenhall took the biscuit. At the last two meetings at Kent I have been robbed of Eight races with no compensation. On a lovely sunny evening I thought at least there would be zero chance of an abandoned meeting. So heat 13 sees the paramedic struck in the eye by flying shale and unable to continue. Quite why she was watching from the pits I have no idea as I was under the impression the paramedic had to be on the inside of the track. Of course accidents happen but this has now become farcical. No wonder Speedway cannot attract new fans let alone keep the few that remain2 points

Best of luck boys ..gutted to miss this one but will be watching updates from sunny Mykonos . The meeting I want us to win the most !!2 points

Gino was brought in on a 5.4 Pt average at the beginning of the season and when the side were going well he upped his average,it is currently 4.2 average and I believe it will go up roughly to his starting average or more so anyone who suggests Connor Mountain as a replacement are stupid as we would weaken our side even further.Connor is a rider for the future who il like but was dumped by Ipswich because he wasn't scoring pts Anyone who goes to the meet the riders after the home meetings understand the reasons for his dip in form, he got a raw deal off an ex Scunny rider over equipment he was sold from him , he is now living on the site at the track and loads of other things which have contributed to his dip in form The team which was set up by Rob has been desimated by injuries all season long yet we are still in there fighting for silverware on two fronts as I think the league position to qualify for the play offs is beyond us .So my call to supporters is back the team to the hilt hopefully Stefan will be back soon , as in past seasons we have been just seeing the season out from August if we win the cup or shield brilliant if we don't we have still witnessed some great racing on in my opinion the best and fairest race track in our league so come on get behind all 7 of our riders and see we're this journey takes us Up The Scorpions2 points

SWC at Gorzow is a million times better than a glorified pairs event at any track. And SWC at any decent track is a much better event than a glorified pairs event at any track2 points

Unless you don't have a track, that is. I find that people tend to defend their track from attacks by others rather than say how good it is.2 points

Wonderful job done by the Facenna brothers to renovate the old stadium and a very good presentation yesterday but I felt that the track was too narrow and rather bumpy to encourage good, close racing. A real shame as the crowd were enthusiastic and willing the Brits to succeed. I must admit that after three years of watching racing at the NSS each week, it highlights the problems we have with many of our tracks and their preparation. I do, however, applaud the efforts to put such a meeting on and will support future such events. The club and their fans were first class.2 points

To be fair... If Thousands of fans NOT attending each week, every year, for the past 20 or so, and finding something else better to do, hasn't influenced them one iota... Not really sure what else will to be honest....2 points

I agree. Why didn't he pick Grajczonek, Klindt, Jakobsen and Woryna too? Rosco out.2 points

I enjoyed that today.... well done Glasgow. Well deserved win for the boys from down under Just as I thought pre meeting, it was very difficult choosing who to cheer on with 5 X Monarchs split between the teams so I changed my allegiance from race to race Love or loathe Tai Woffinden, I have to say he makes riding a Speedway bike look so easy. He looks like he’s sitting in an old favourite armchair Big crowd, big noise.... nice touch with the free horns and flags Hope the collection for Lewis Kerr went well, get well soon lad2 points

Dunno how many, but stadium seemed pretty full all around, stands were full. back straight area jammed. Well done to local promotion, well done to fans who came and WELL DONE YOU AUSSIES!2 points

I have been to 2 matches this season where there has been inadequate medical cover to keep the meeting running. Peterborough a few weeks ago and KL last night. Are there any rules as regards medical cover or is it up to each club to do what they see fit? What does your club do? When I was having a moan on the Peterborough thread about the lack of a second ambulance Neil Watson came on to correct me that there was a second ambulance but it was the paramedics decision to call a county ambulance. I wonder why that was? Were the ambulances in attendance inadequate? Did the paramedic have to stay with the injured rider? Was there only one paramedic in attendance? Should there be 2? At KL last night, only 1 ambulance in attendance, they had to ring around to try and get another one out after it was discovered that the county ambulance was going to take 3 hours to get there. Anybody that has ever had to call an ambulance these days knows that the days of them turning up within minutes are long gone. I've been going to Speedway for 40 years now and have been to many many tracks where ambulances have had to take injured riders off to hospital, sometimes the meeting continues as there is adequate provision in place for it to do so and other times there has been a massive delay with disgruntled fans streaming away vowing never to return... It does seem a bit of a lottery1 point

Unfortunately accidents happen in speedway, and its a shame Scunny have had more than their fair share this season. Hopefully the injuries are not too bad and everyone is fit and riding again very soon. This applies to all those who are presently riding through the pain barrier such as Steve Worrall and our own Rene Bach and Ty Proctor. They certainly put the likes of premier league footballers to shame. As Scaramanga has already said, nobody was knocked off, apart from young Kyle you could say. The crashes tonight were what I would call racing incidents where the riders were totally committed, which is what supporters want to see, rather than people tootling around at the back for a couple of laps before pretending they have a mechanical issue when they miss the gate (mentioning no names here, but we all know one or two). There was some great speedway tonight from 2 very committed teams and Scunny deserve a lot of credit and probably a point. I certainly wouldn't have begrudged them one. Jake Allen in particular was superb, ably backed up by Steve Worrall and Jason Garrity. For the Comets everyone chipped in, with a half fit Rene Bach being a trump card at reserve. Typical that young Kyle appeared to be on for 2 points (I know he got the points as the race was awarded) when he was clipped in the reserves race as it would have been great to cheer him over the line. It would have been interesting to see how he got on against Danny Phillips and Gino Manzares for the rest of the meeting as it could have been a turning point for him. Once again, shame on those who left before the lap of honour. Do they not appreciate what these guys go through to provide us with the entertainment and the points? Sorry, edited to point out how lucky we are to have Dan Bewley in our team. Absolute class.1 point

If you were paid on performance I'd hazard a guess you would score as many points as you can to put cash in your own pocket. Riders don't really care who they ride for as they can quite easily get replaced, clubs have not an ounce of loyalty towards anybody ! He may have scored better for Ipswich recently but he has done a few laps around that place and is well known to be good at lakeside. He is 40 years old, he won't put himself in situations where he will get into bother, that's why he isn't out injured or getting rode over.1 point

Good match and really enjoyed the close racing, but the reserve tally says it all. Ippo did it with a six man team, just imagine if Drew had been available....he would have just needed one point ! Looking at the gate I recognised loads of Mildenhall supporters (they weren't at home today), and when I'm at Mildenhall I usually see loads of Peterborough supporters... come on Peterborough promoters wake up, ride at a different time than your neighbours and you'll both get more through the gate.1 point

Fans at all clubs will have their favourite riders - as indeed do sponsors! If a fan wants to give something to a rider then he/she will - including in this specific case setting up a Just Giving page for Chris Harris' repairs independent of what the club or the supporters club (REF) may or may not do. (Incidentally Chris knew nothing about this until informed by another supporter and promptly offered some of his merchandise to be given to selected donors.) Clearly as at Sunday evening 50 donors feel the same about Bomber and have so far raised £758 As for Stefan yes he may well 'deserve' a collection, but by the same token he probably had some financial support from SRBF which wouldn't have been available to Bomber. I guess if some fans or sponsors feel strongly enough about Stefan or any other rider then we can expect a number of Just Giving opportunities to crop up.1 point

Just sums up what is crap about speedway these days. Four weeks without a meeting and Aarnio & Kus absent because they are abroad. I despair.1 point

Delay to start as people still trying to get in... open another turnstile then!1 point

surely theres a reasonable argument for having a collection for a young british rider, riding for poole at poole when breaking his leg and as others have said resulting in a financially disastrous season for him, whats the harm in giving it a go, measured against the possible gains jmo1 point

It's in the interest of Poole that Chris gets his bike back in tip top order and he's going well. He is still earning though and Nielson isn't, which is a shame. I'm not saying it's the reason Poole have decided not to help Nielson. As Stary said they can't help everyone..But you can throw thousands at Nielson and it won't help Poole, as he's crocked. I'm sure Bomber is chuffed and will give his all to help Poole win the title after the good will he has received.1 point

NKI got a good paid 12 on his last visit. And is track record holder here. He flies round NSS. As does Lambert and MPT. If one of the other 4 can back them up then result could go either way1 point

Hi Jenga Thanks for your kind words. I’ll do as I please however and I’m grown up enough to know how to spell and construct sentences..... Trick track blah blah. Why on earth wouldn’t you set a track up to have some sort of home advantage? League winners 2018, it’s happening. Many thanks JA. xxxxx1 point

Somewhat surprisingly the PZM/Extraleague have revealed the payment details for this meeting 1) the guaranteed amount for a reserve rider – net 3000 zł 2) the guaranteed amount for each rider (except the top 3 and reserve riders) - net 4000 zł, 3) 10000 zł net for participation in the competition and taking the first place, 4) 7000 zł net for participation in the competition and taking the second place, 5) 5000 zł net for participation in the competition and taking the third place, with the provison that for long-term contracts shall apply the rates specified in the rules in force at the time of signing the contract. The above rates include the total remuneration, including any costs associated with participation in the competition (travel costs, preparation of motorcycles, etc.) for participation. SE may increase the guaranteed amount mentioned in the preceding points1 point
