Absolutely THJ, every penny made in the Track Shop goes into Workington Speedway, we aim to do everything we can to please supporters which can be very difficult at times. Lets hope we have something really big to celebrate very soon and that we can be producing merchandise with Championship Winners 2018 on it in time for Christmas !6 points

Well, not many people overtake Jason Doyle on the final bend in heat 15, which brings me to my point. WE'VE GOT BOMBER - ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE4 points

It's a shame that some clubs are unable or unwilling to sign lease agreements that guarantees the availability of a stadium to race meetings. Surely this should be a standard necessity if a club wants to participate in a particular league otherwise the whole competition could become a bit of a circus and we wouldn't want that to happen regarding Glasgow claiming precedence, not at all. Firstly they cannot possibly beat any team that has such honest fans as Worky. And even if we did I'm sure everyone would want to wait until all the cups are completed after all they are more important than a league championship. These cup matches are obviously the most important as they have been deliberately left until the last minute to emphasise there importance. Theres nothing like standing in the cold and drizzle cheering on your team standing next to one man and his imaginary dog. Why would you race in the summer when the weather is good and fans are just itching to attend a meeting - even more so at Workington where itching I've been told is a common complaint. And everyone remembers the cup and shield champions but who on here can remember who won the league the last few years. so yes, no complaints from Glasgow and I really honestly mean that4 points

This is interesting and perhaps we are slightly different to other clubs but our demographic definitely is not over 60s, its kids to 50s mainly (or perhaps I am blinkered as I get older of age ) We do have senior fans for sure, but as to them being the majority our gate tickets tell us otherwise, as does the fan base, and while we are not talking thousands through the gate, well not yet of course, our fan base is definitely less than 50. This has been our objective since the start. To start from the ground up, attracting a new demographic while engaging and supporting those who have been for year. I cannot say that we have cracked it for sure, but in general I think we are working well with both groups of fans. Our parties are always full of families, which is really where I want it to be. Our season ticket sales goes across the spectrum of course but we do have youth pricing for season tickets and we have sold them. I walk our stadium every meeting and engage with the fans and not one traditional speedway fan has said they didn't like the new things we were putting in to attract fans... I feel that they actually enjoy the fun filled show we try to put on more than just 15 heats of quality racing... For us, making speedway an event is our target and to make each week better than the previous one is a business objective along with have a business that is sustainable and can fund itself. That's our view on it and it is a challenge to think of great ideas, have them copied and have to think of new ones to keep being innovative but thats the plan moving forward... continue to improve the stadium, continue to engage, continue to promote, continue to build a rider base, continue with the show and continue to innovate... all to the best we can and all within a budget. .......... see you trackside.4 points

You asked for an honest answer, wtf has Berwick got to do with it? Jacko was asking teams to visit (the strongest team in the league) and they were refusing for a variety of reasons (usually rider availability) maybe on the nights some of those teams went to Berwick they had their riders or fancied their chances with a guest at Berwick. Maybe they couldn't go to Workington 'cos they were riding at Berwick Don't ask for an honest answer if you don't want one, this forum really pees me off when you tell people the truth they don't want to believe it, crack on then I'm out of this one.3 points

He never said that he was? It makes no difference anyway, riders will usually end up riding where they want to.3 points

In the words of your very own well spoken general speedway fan Dorothy58 , you're a such a nob ...I suppose that very important Micky Mouse cup you are going to Edinburgh for tomorrow night is also more important than the league championship ?? Couldn't accomodate Workington 5th/6th oct yet you can make a Spring Trophy ... laughable now naff off back to your own playground thread with ya cronies Manse, GazC3 points

Doyle gave the game away coming off the second bend of the last lap. He looked over his right shoulder, saw Bomber and moved out, closing the door for an outside run. Bomber must have seen him look, knew the outside was no go and charged underneath, catching Doyle out. Superb move.3 points

No body beats Robert at Kings Lynn. Of all the happenings of this year in speedway, it is the form of Lambert that has been truly surprising. He has progressed from a talent youngster into a world class riders. His attitude and behaviour has been a credit to him and the club. Leading by example, he is now a true number 1 rider . And they're not many of them about....3 points

One of your own “lady”s makes me look like an Angel as for going on about crowds ...cast your mind back a few years before the millionaires moved in , Glasgow’s crowds were dire , the worry of closing down was only too present on the fans minds so you know how it feels , cheap digs at crowd levels are a pretty low blow , we can all have banter on here but I really wouldn’t want ANY team folding , you got lucky just remember that2 points

In 2014 Wolbert started with Glasgow on 8.48 and finished the season on a deplorable 6.19. The following season he rejoined Edinburgh on that bargain average and finished the season on 8.18. Supposing he was the only rider left on the planet who could fill your final team place, you'd be better closing your track with dignity than employing this shameless individual IMO.2 points

aye , the three musk of tears all stick together and back each other up, right or wrong . i am sure that many posters see these three as part of the tufty club and can say or do no wrong . its like a cow dropping one pile on top of another . the reasons behind the missing weekends in the early months were well documented and even Hoggy explained it as to why no one was willing or able to fulfil the Saturday fixtures . HONESTLY. it looks like no matter how many time people tell you lot it was impossible to arrange meetings , it was looked upon as not being interested or worky were just fobbing other teams off . in fact it was the reverse . i am sure THJ can put it into Cumbrian for you as you dont appear to be able to understand INglish . looks like all that time off school has served you well and you have suck seeded in being dumb .. caught one ,just two more for a full set !2 points

If you all ran meetings during the summer when Speedway is meant to be run, you could all be packed up now instead of sitting around watching in the damp and cold.2 points

It’s not for you to make the call on what should be on this forum, there are moderators for controlling that! However, it is interesting to note that you have made more than your fair share of comments on a thread that you apparently don’t approve of.2 points

Such a well spoken young lady with fans like you I can't understand why workington's crowds are so low Whilst not wanting to criticise you just to mention its the Scottish Cup not the Spring Trophy and we only took this booking once all other matches had been agreed. We thought it was only fair to our fans who had bought lots of tickets from our promotion for this second leg which was sadly rained off at the start of the year. These tickets were only valid for the 2nd leg but Edinburgh couldn't fit us in until they got knocked out of all the other competitions. so better late than never .2 points

Think we should be thankful we still have meetings to go to. There are a few teams that have already packed up for the season who would gladly change places with us. The injuries are unlucky but get behind the riders who have are agreed to help us to hopefully progress. You never know.2 points

Don't want to criticise as we've over achieved this season, however it all appears to be coming to an end with a whimper.2 points

Why use Ellis’ previous score to explain how Poole are stronger, but not Brady’s 12 from 4 the last Kings Lynn visited, when he beat Lambert and Iversen twice each? It’s almost like you’re twisting things to suit your own agenda.2 points

The only date Lakeside could be blamed over was v Glasgow, 7th July, due to World Cup. There were two Friday away fixtures in June and three at home, then in July the only home match was v Sheffield on 13th. 20th was the Championship pairs then 27th v Peterborough was ruled out by the BSPA. Now we come to August managing just one again v Ipswich on the 3rd. The 10th v Peterborough and 24th v Newcastle were rained off whilst the scheduled trip to Workington on 17th cancelled at short notice by Rob Godfrey and his chums.2 points

You're right. I remember taking my father to a meeting in the 60's and him telling me how much better the racing was in the 30's, how good Eric Langton was and how he would have easily beaten those racing that day. It's human nature, most of us tend to think whatever music was popular when we were in our teens and early twenties was superior to todays offerings. I must admit to having gone through a period when I thought I would never see racing comparable to that served up at Hyde Road during the Craven, Mauger, Collins and Morton eras but the quality of racing in the GP's and at the NSS has changed my mind. It is at least as good and quite often better.2 points

Saturdays meeting is looking dodgy according to weather reports let's hope they have got it wrong ,,or more ghastly double headers could be on the cards how much more of these fiascos can the fans take. ,,,All this could have been avoided in the summer had we not gone several weeks in between meetings..The mind boggles at the stupidity of it all,,,,2 points
-
Not looking good for Saturdays PO 1st leg rain all night forecast at the moment better look at a mid week fixture or we are going to run out of time just bet the BSPA would just love that as there must be a reason why they refused to let us race on 4 Fridays during the summer2 points

Yes all those weeks in the summer when the weather was kind, and we end up in a rush to get meetings done in October where the weather turns and even if it’s dry, it’s cold and breezy.1 point

Personally I've never really understood the fixation about the quality of the racing over many year since the introduction of speedway as a form of entertainment. It's always been variable and much of it based upon the type and shape of track and machinery and many other criteria which often dictates the standard of racing. There were good and not so good racks in my years following he sport and no doubt the same applies today. I've just re-read an interview with Joe Screen who mentioned that during his career dirt became somewhat scarce when 'lay-down' engines were introduced because they couldn't perform efficiently on heavy tracks thereby tracks became a lot slicker and racing suffered.1 point

Sorry but a track that produces mainly processional racing in my opinion is an awful track and is a major cause of people walking away from speedway. Fans want to see speedway racing not follow the leader boring speedway.1 point
