  3. In the words of others on here, without Vissing it's going to be a real backs to the wall kind of night for us. With no adequate replacement around I just hope the heroes in red and white can battle for a losing consolation point.

  7. Anyone who seriously considers the current Championship to be comparable with the PL of 15 or so years ago can’t have seen the PL of 15 years ago. What is on offer now isn’t even a pale imitation. Coming back to Newcastle (this is a Newcastle thread,, after all) for me the issue at the moment may be in a lack of application: the (relative) lack of talent compared to 2003 has to be a given.

  8. Correct, and Chris is a really nice bloke. The only thing with this is the multi alias trolls wll just make up names, as they or more like he really is that sad.

  9. Shame he does, because if I remember correctly nicki was front and centre raising money for him after his accident. Short memory Mr ward has.

  11. I just don't get how the moderators can't tell when there are multi alias. Just look how many names the most recent incarnation has got though

  13. To be fair to Watson didn’t he break his arm quite badly in his first meeting for Poole? I think that set him back a bit but he was still a quality rider.

  14. Yeah because there generally full of s**t too!

  15. What would make gate selection by the rider even more less important would be if the nonsense of follow the leader for the first 3 or 4 races, usually the inside gates first and thats it. Its a good start to a meeting of such high calibre if you can bag 3 points in your first race. Why not put a few non GP riders out for at least 8 laps riding different lines particularly inside lines, to get a quicker racing line formed. That should even the gates out a bit.

  17. Irrelevant, as... 28th August is correct, so any last minute changes are made using August GSAs

  18. Isn't signing the young riders the idea of the league though?

  19. Didn't he slate British speedway as well but was forced to grovel and back track when he was reminded how much was done for him over here compared to being robbed by the Poles and Swedes?

  20. Being called a fool by you is almost as funny as when Starman called someone else stupid . You have far more important things to be doing thats right, such as posting on Poole threads every other hour Or asking webcam girls for photos ?

  21. Worth pointing out that the rugby team have moved out due to the high financial cost of playing at Odsal. Would Speedway be financially viable?

  22. Well if that's not enough reason for the mods to do something. How do I get on the moderating panel? Cos it clearly needs someone on it, although strangely they manage to ban Gavan often enough.

  24. Cracking win for the tinpot club tonight, I never expected 58, but there was some consistency all the way through Berwick's scoring (everybody getting between 7 and 10). The meeting certainly livened up in the second half, started by excellent cutbacks by Dany Gapp and Spud off the second bend and up the back straight (do these count as passes?), then passing and re-passing between Leon and Kyle Newman in heat 12. Heat 15 was a bit scary, good to see Nick Morris and Jye up and walking about afterwards and hope it's not too serious for NBJ. And as usual excellent PR afterwards with the riders spending an age getting photos taken with kids.

  25. A bit of info. Paul 55 Live in East Winch. 1st went with my Dad in 1972. My dad bought me a racing bike from Halfords. The manager dropped it off after work. My Dad was talking to him and speedway came up. He ended up dropping us off there for our 1st time on his way home. Loved it. Walked with my Dad 8 miles round trip every week until 1976. My Dad stopped going then, but I used to go with a mate( Dad had a car then so dropped us off and picked us up). Early 80's started to stand on the 2nd bend, just before the bar .By then there was a crew of about 8 of us. Bit of a haze ( hit Champs nightclub that was at the stadium back then) until I stopped going in 02. No crew left by then. I've been going again since 2011.Usually on my own. Recently my son and Grandson comes now and again.Just pick my meetings now. Fav riders.. Mike Lee, watched him since his early teens. Leigh Adams, Made it look easy. Loved watching Henka as well. Didn't like David Norris, think it was just an Ippo thing... Not keen Chris Holder, Batch, Nik P. Best moment was invading the track in 1977 when Lynn won the KO cup. Ran around the track with the team. Like riding my motorbike, watching my Grandson play for his under 11 footy side( Never missed a game in 3 years). Prem football, but only from the armchair. Still got my old autograph book, with some oldies in there. Profile pic is my son aged 8, having a skid. He made himself a track in the back garden..(17 now) Not on any social media.

  29. That was the plan and he was paid to come over and just do a start to suit Peter's plan for his replacement/ team shuffle. he could not have ridden due to his injury. Manu lived with us and I was his driver and mechanic along with another guy. He thought he could still ride abroad and not be found out, whilst still saying he was injured to Newcastle. We got a report he had ridden in a Saturday morning Danish meeting, but he wouldn't tell us what engine to put in the bike for our Sunday meeting. We new something was fishy then and when he didn't turn up he was reported and banned from riding and fined. A scribbled A4 piece of paper turned up allegedly from a proper Doctor, which obviously it wasn't. Later turned up riding for Birmingham in one of their early seasons, but was not a hit and faded away and retired.

  34. To. Bigboaby and The Doctor.... both of you can stop the nonsense by simply ignoring each other. If either get a pm just delete without reading it. Why delete membership of this forum if you like being here just because another annoys you for a short while.... and that’s all it will be , a short while if you ignore each other. If you want a short answer to the above ......... grow up, the pair of you

  36. History would dictate a knee deep track with only the bravest/most experienced venturing off the single line on the inside after 10 or so heats. The weather forecast is good, gating boots required regardless.

  38. A think if any appeal, based on the evidence on the BSF, was to be heard in a proper court, with normal people,,, Mr Cook would walk away a free man.

  39. Yeah we did, Eastbourne are shocking away this season.. But then, the remit of the club this season was to move up a league, establish a better fan base at home and rebuild with a sustainable business model. Boxes being ticked..

  41. A mate of mine who used to go home and away in the seventies never went to the dog track, a couple of seasons ago he came with me to the NSS for the play off final against Wolves, loved it and now comes to the Colts as well as the Aces, a friend of his who had never been to speedway is now coming along too, hopefully this is a trend that will continue not just at Belle Vue but throughout speedway.

  42. Hope the weather is ok. Seems ages ago that the Kent lads were last in action. Which was a good thing given all the injuries. Think they will be fine and get in the play-offs. If not they are the 1 team who have a reason. I have already stated it. GO KENT.

  43. Of course it will have more heatleaders ... that wasnt my argument . my argument is the league in general is absolutely no where near the standard it was . if you genuinely think Craig Watson in his prime would only average 6.5 in the current championship i can only assume your on a wind up. The EL back then was strong , and was a proper top flight when I think only Gollob was missing from the Gp field. Now theres only one full time GP rider in the league. I would genuinely pay good money to watch the old Premier league standard , would I to watch now? No.

  44. I think Jon Cook made that sneer when he learned New Holland tractors - who had apparently turned down a Lakeside request for sponsorship - had linked up with Berwick. He reportedly contacted the NH bosses to tell them they should drop Berwick ("only a tin-pot Northern club" ) and link with the Hammers. Which they immediately - - didn't. Don't think it had anything to do with the late lamented Rockets.

  45. Glasgow will never be stronger going into any meeting without Cook and i would hazard a guess that Eastbourne would be the same without Kennett So in reality its the replacement for Vissing that could be the only issue

  46. Bomber is a great bloke and all that and a loyal servant to the sport and, in his day, was worthy of a GP place, but if he managed to qualify this year because he was a track specialist at this particular track, it would be such a retrograde step for the GP and I can't see it leading to anything other than further embarrassment for him in next year's GP series. Really, I can't help but think he should never have entered the qualifiers.
