  2. As I entered the stadium in heavy rain I thought I would be on my out again a few minutes later so to to get a full meeting in is credit to everyone concerned. Berwick made heavy weather of beating Newcastle but they got there in the end thanks in the main to Leon Flint who arguably had his nest meeting so far, and there have been quite a few to pick from. Can`t agree with some of the remarks about Kyle Bickley, IMO he`s doing the job he was brought in to do especially when in some of his rides he is generally up against tactical rides from the opposition. Its great to see Leon Flint free scoring as his reserve partner but Bickley`s performances shouldn't be ignored.

  3. Didn’t think there was too much wrong with the track myself apart from being dusty which considering the forecast is quite understandable. There was a problem with watering around heat 11-12 when bowser dumped to much water on bends 1-2 but otherwise ok.

  4. He had two options, bikes remain in the yard and locked away for the rest of the day or left in the street whilst he waited for his 'friend' to arrive. He chose the street. But go ahead and believe what you like, you'll be saying next that Armadale has a Speedway Track.

  6. Maybe using guest riders?... I am sure the fans would be just as fanatical knowing their favourite riders could help everyone else's chances of success, whilst at the same time single handedly destroying their own. And the sponsors would remain just as interested in pumping huge sums of money in to the teams knowing their own riders could completely undermine every single cent of their investment by their actions... And the TV companies would still be falling over themselves to tender for the rights to broadcast each meeting knowing 'Woffy' for example could rider for all eight teams.... Lastly, maybe ride not at the weekends, but Monday and Thursday's,. Two huge nights for the entertainment business.. For me.. The only improvement they could make is having one less junior in the top league teams as there are too many races with two world class riders, one very good one, and a junior.. Maybe the six and seven could be Polish U24 and U21? Other than that, nothing.. Great entertainment, unreal commitment, and you actually feel as a fan that 'it does matter'... If only eh?

  7. Why? surely if the aim is for these riders to improve then potentially moving into the main body and challenging themselves is a good thing, no point protecting them the scheme makes it easier for them to get a team spot and also gives certain benefits like guarantees on points money and fuel and tires provided by their clubs

  8. When you have the worlds best riders , the best teams , fantastic stadiums and race tracks and the backing of the fanatical supporters its little wonder no other country comes anywhere near to Poland and its Speedway . Add to that the superb tv coverage it really is an unbeatable package. Everything from start to finish run in a professional manner , i honestly dont think it could be improved.

  9. Agreed. Should just say each team must have three brits. One of which must be under, say, 19. And another under 21. I see Plymouth, who signed Luke Ruddick as there "Rising Star", have now transferred the Rising Star status to Alfie Bowtell! How is that possible? It gives them an extra 0.25 (ish) to play with for any subsequent team changes as Alfie has a higher average. Bloody ridiculous.

  10. Feel for everyone who had to stand around and watch the disaster unfold today. Rain shower couldn't be helped, 2 hour track work was a questionable choice and spending 3 hours to no avail is ridiculous. A lot of folks could have been home by then or certainly close. I admire the optimism but ive stood and watched these debarcles at Mildenhall before and the track can rarely be saved. Bad day at the office for all involved and another mess the sport can ill afford.

  12. Blobby probably had the track under surveillance for the two weeks before the. meeting. He likes gathering evidence apparently.

  13. Still confident we can beat most teams over a two legged tie which is we’re it matters. Still disappointing but another point on the road which before the meeting most would have accepted.

  14. Not everyone gets all the fortune you lot had there. Fair play to Eastbourne for the comeback but I've always thought home tacticals should never be allowed.

  16. We can all be team managers onthe sidelines but at the end of the day the promotion stuck by the team that they announced last year which let the riders know that they at least had a team place fir this season. I’m the same as most people that want too see us at the top end of the league and if all the team had been firing on all cylinders I’m sure the team wouldn’t be far away. Form is everything I’m sure for the riders but there will always be bumps in the road. Jye has had a couple of big crashes already this year , NBJ had some mechanical issues away from home which could have changed some results if the engine hadn’t givin up. Danny is starting to put some decent scores away from home and Leon is having a superb season . Coty not being here causes issues but it’s nobody’s fault . A win is a win in my book . I’m just happy that we are getting too see meetings when some supporters aren’t . We just need to get behind the team and promotion.

  17. Only 6 points up after heat 13. I was expecting Leon Flint to replace Kyle Bickley in heat 14.

  22. Agree wholeheartedly. Well done to the Glasgow fans that did travel. Made themselves heard, well, until Ht10 onwards that is! Do Covid rules not apply to the Scottish folk? Cammi hugging referee Christina Turnbull, neither had a mask on. Those fans on turn1, 8-10 of them...NONE wore masks throughout, despite regular announcements saying otherwise. Downright disrespectful to everyone else. They cant all have immunity, surely? Really enjoyed watching Tom Brennan. His Ht15 effort to keep Ostergaard behind him was superb. Easily Man of the Match, if only for that. NIghtmare journey getting there, 3hrs 30 mins, bloody roadworks. Going home?...2hrs 15 mins, as expected.

  23. To be honest MacDonald is an accident waiting to happen, his record of falling off is awful. He's been in the sport a few years now he should know his limits by now.

  26. Another point on the board but you're kidding yourself on if its not a concern the way we tail off at the latter end of meetings. 58-32 i make the aggregate score from ht11 onwards in our last 3 away meetings .

  27. To be honest Theo has been really good so a bit harsh on him in my opinion and I don’t think we can bring Auty back in according some rule about removing a rider then re adding them

  40. While it's possible a rising star could go to #1, it is less than likely that Leon Flint's rolling average would improve to that extent in the immediate future. At present he is still at reserve by average, not because he's the RS.

  42. I don’t expect the site is guilty of either of those things. I think it’s clear that you don’t wish to use the site, which is your decision, but your negative scaremongering isn’t helpful. All Clubs are relying heavily (if not exclusively) on on-line bookings for another few weeks - we should be encouraging people to book. Have you raised your concerns with the Birmingham promotion or the booking company - or simply posted repeatedly on here? I’m sure the Club would be happy to set your mind at rest given the opportunity.

  43. So phone them up on 020 8335 1113 9am-2.30pm, my copy now arrives in the clear bag and, touch wood (taps temple), gets delivered reilably. Speaking as I find: on the rare occasions my 'Star hasn't turned up at all, say once a year, a quick call to Dave Fairbrother ( a man of few words who gets things done ) and a replacement in a brown envelope arrives the next day. Every time ....

  45. Having sat at home in France and watched online as he was taken out in some foreign country, frantically texting his girlfriend at the scene, waiting for what seemed like an eternity to find out if he could move his legs… it’s hard. It’s really hard. I despair at the organisation in the UK who really take for granted the talent they have at their resources. The lack of foresight and any semblance of a cohesive plan to forward the sport has been obvious for years. Britain could win world cups and world titles if only the powers that be could realise it’s no longer 1974. The world’s moved on. British speedway hasn’t.

  46. I completely agree with you, quite how people can post negative comments regarding the fixture list I find quite surprising, when it's not even known what riders will be participating. Yes, it's very different from the conventional team matches, but at the end of the day, it's still four riders turning left for 4-laps, giving it their all in the name of entertainment, something that is lacking at certain tracks in recent years. If I lived on the island, they would get my 100% support every meeting, and if I was a holidaymaker the weeks they were running a meeting, they'd also get my 100% support. In this day and age when British holidays are almost a thing of the past, 2021 is an exception to that rule, and if you check out the IOW website for things to do of an evening, you'll find nothing, with the exception of a theatre doing a show one night a week, and speedway, the only other thing on offer is if you take your family trolley racing round the aisles of Tesco at Ryde until 10.00pm. The people that sit on the top table running our sport, have seemingly done everything in their power to close this forward thinking club down, and thanks to the determination of Messrs Bishop and Widman, have failed. As many supporters round the country know, once their club closes down, seldom does it ever reopen, finishing up as a housing estate, or another supermarket. So I hope it is a success for them, they've put a lot of time, effort and money, travelling from different parts of the mainland on almost a weekly basis to get the stadium into what looks a lovely venue to visit, and you have only got to check out the cost of the Wightlink Car Ferry, let alone the cost of fuel in reaching Portsmouth, in their determination to ensure that Smallbrook Stadium isn't added to the defunct tracks from 2022 onwards. Bravo to all of you concerned.

  47. Everybody is entitled to their differing views on what Speedway should offer that is one of the things that makes it great and also one of the reasons why its currently in such a mess. The fixture list is likely not how Martin & Barry want it either but given the short notice and restrictions they have faced it looks decent enough to me and great to action on track this year which hopefully means in years to come also. If you fancy a Speedway reset give the Handicap meeting a try as it guarantees interesting racing in every heat.
