It's not too often that Terry Tibbs talks speedway these days but when I do, people say Terry you're still the man! So Kings Lynn fans talk to me! I've told Busty so many times that unless his brings back Main Man Rogers into the fold that the sport in the Fluxing Arena of Eastern England is on a slope more slippy, than the EU butter mountains. I had a lunch with little Johnny C in the Wimpy in Chingford High Street just last week, after 2 Milk Shakes and a Quarter Pounder with Cheese, little Johnny C agreed that there is only one man to bring back the glory days and that is Main Man Rogers! I have sent Busty a telex telling him he needs to quickly contact The Ace that is Mase and agree a deal for Main Man Rogers to return with immediate effect. The German chap was ever so nice, in fact my 4th wife Greta had a liaison with him once in Krystof Stojanowski's caravan in the car park of the Smallbrook Stadium on the Island of Wight, but that's a different matter for now! Answer me this, is there is a man with more credentials that Main Man Rogers - the answer is simply no! Look what he did for the career of Bomabardier Harris, turned him into a near GP Gold Meadlist. Don't forget what he did at Coventry Speedway, the way he mentored Big Blayne Scroggins into probably their greatest team manager of all time and of course his success at turning Mildenhall Fen Tigers from the FSO's of the sport to the BMW's! Talking of BMW's my valet boy Christopher Mills, is around to do a bit of spannering if any of you are looking for someone who is handy with a wrench, whilst my business Jimmy Lynch is busy with that wench Audrey he met at the Chinford British Legion just before lockdown in January 2020! But once again I digress. I could go on for hours, but we need to act fast Listen to Terry, bring back Main Man Rogers, Busty! Thank you, goodbye, much looove!!!9 points

I'm no fan of Pedersen but this does look like the Referee did have it in for him. Referees don't half have life easy these days. 'Visiting' the Referee was a common occurrence years ago. It used to entertain the crowd too. I can remember a number of Riders popping into the Referee's box to dispute a decision. It was fun, all the booing and cheering, depending on which team you supported was all part of the Sport and the entertainment. Ah well, "The past is another country, they do things differently there". (Quote: L. P. Hartley). Sadly...........................................................7 points

This used to be a regular occurrence and part of the fun of going to speedway. I remember Rosco doing it at Swindon. Everyone had a laugh and a cheer and a good time with it. Can't have that though, can we!6 points

Bloke is box office and every promoter in this country would have him in their lineup no question if they could afford him. 100% of the fans would have him also if he was on their team. He’s only a pariah if you don’t have him.....5 points

Not sure how it was manipulation? Any rider that hadn't rode in the Championship was given a 1* rating. Even if they'd been given a 2* a 39 point limit would still be in place. In no world would the Thompson's be given a 3* along with Flint, Bickley etc.5 points

It seems to be beyond the comprehension of some people that in a league competition someone finishes at the bottom. This year it will be Kings Lynn. As a neutral I can only say thanks fro the match.tonight. There was some good racing from both sides. For Stars fans I can only say that if you don't support your team when they are going through a bad patch then you are very fickle fans. I supported Coventry and would love then to be bottom of the league! If you were nearer to me I'd be going every week.5 points

It's those little touches that matter to supporters. I remember going down one very wet day in 2019 when Somerset were there, never thought it would be on but it was and they were confident it would be. Just purchased Tickets for Leicester on the 18th at Arlington to go with a few Leicester supporting friends. I've seen that if you don't want to stop for Double Header v Cubs you can leave at set time and get a "reduction voucher" to reduce the price for next match you go to. £24 for double header or if you leave between 2 matches you get a £6 reduction voucher - difference between that match and just a Championship match. Another little touch, not unique; but it is very simple and the effort being made is as important than the offer sometimes.3 points

You're just miffed that we finished the meeting strong and took a bonus point.you wouldn't be saying anything if we'd have been hammered...;-)3 points

What the press release does say is that 'the visitors weren't too happy with the track and that the start was delayed for around an hour while work was carried out'. That says to me that the club tried all they could to make sure both sets of riders were happy enough to get the meeting on rather than laying the blame at Redcar riders and promotion for the delays.... which they obviously did because the meeting went ahead. Understand your frustrations but you cannot blame Birmingham for not running against a Euro semi-final involving England. Apart from it being financially and commercially ridiculous, I would bet most of the fans, riders, promotion team, staff etc on both sides would like to see England hopefully reach the final. I would think the decision to cancel the meeting was pretty much instant but with England playing on the Saturday night, the BSPA would not have been able to make the decision until the office opened on Monday and then get the press release out. Not actually Birmingham waiting 48hrs... Given that Birmingham could cover Riss with nearly anybody in the league due to his high average, I don't think the fact he is injured was even thought about in a sinister way either. Having read all of the press releases on the Brummies website, I've not seen one sentence where they are blaming Redcar for anything either. Please enlighten us all if its been missed somewhere tho2 points

I like what I've seen of Connor so far, yes he's struggling for points but he gives 100% and gets stuck in, one or two others last night looked like they were going through the motions.2 points

I’m only going by the long shots on TV last night but it seemed to me that the wheelchair viewing area in the home straight stand was rather full! I know it’s personal choice but to me that is a bit dubious as regards safety. Before anyone says it was camera angle they were straight on shots from the back straight. This isn’t a pop at KL as they have tried to provide disabled friendly areas but might explain why some are not comfortable going at present.2 points

Dale allitt will step in a be manager for remainder of season. Or potentially Carl Johnson ?2 points

Don't you just love it. Complaints before the season that Bates would be our rising star. Complaints during the season that he won't.2 points

Totally agree, we drove down from Essex through wind, torrential rain in fact everything you don't want for Speedway but we kept going as we totally trust the Eastbourne weather guru.2 points

Why? Birmingham came back from 10 down to win at Berwick by 12; and came back from 14 down at Redcar to lose by only two. Who is to say that they could not have won by more than two at Perry Barr?2 points

I think the thing is, speedway teams have this person who runs the show, who is called 'the promoter'. The title sounds like he is the man/woman who holds the purse strings, is cash rich, is an expert in marketing and media marketing and an expert organiser. The reality, is the promoter is a speedway enthusiast, probably has a business to run, so has limited time, makes no money from the sport, probably loses money, but hey, he/she is an enthusiast. Perhaps the name promoter should be scrapped. The name promoter is normally given to someone who is organising a one off event, such as a pop/rock concert, who would likely be cash rich, as he/she will be running a promotion company. Team manager is probably a more accurate title.2 points

Personally I've got no interest in individual meetings. I support a team, not individual riders. When I go to a meeting to watch my team I have an emotional investment in it. Each to their own.2 points

“And any 'promoter' who doesn't put some signposts up around the town or try to get the team into local newspapers/tv/radio should be shot! The general quality of UK league speedway PR is horrible” Dear Mr/ Mrs HackneyHawk, it may educate you to know you need the relevant councils permission, a licence ( involving quite a high fee ) and the local highways authority ( again a fee involved ) to erect signs around any area. In the specific case of Redcar ( so called because they are 500 metres inside the Redcar council boundary although they are in the town of Middlesbrough ) , when they asked to erect direction signs from the nearby dual carriageway they were told ‘ no chance ‘ as Middlesbrough council would not allow signs advertising a Redcar council facility. Life is not straight forward so hold fire with the firing squad !1 point

You mean you wished Ipswich had a half fit struggling Crump riding so your team had a better chance of winning? At least be honest rather than chucking a sly barb in.1 point

Yeah i think he was riding a 250... He was better 4 days before against the Panthers. I predicted Heeps would be sh@t against his old Witches.1 point

By that way of thinking a first leg of a KOC can never be awarded to any team as any score could occur in the second leg. That’s not in the rules. Even if there is only 1 race left you would have to re-run the meeting by that logic. If Heat 10 had been run the meeting could have been awarded by the current rules (assuming they are applied in a logical manner) Heat 10 was delayed by the crash where Jordan Stewart was injured and Birmingham would have had 1 rider therefore a 3-3 was the best the Brummies could realistically get. Bears would still have been 10 points up (at least). Add to that the delay to the meeting caused by Birmingham’s inability to get the track prepared in time and the fact meetings have previously been awarded after 9 races when the result wasn’t mathematically certain and you can see why Redcar are not happy.1 point

Already difficult to get fans through the gate with the tie largely over and iffy forecast. Only saving grace is that its against the local rivals but RR thrown in to drag the meeting out further i fear is going to be a big no for many. Hope the crowd is enough to cover costs and some of the home riders put up a decent fight.1 point

Totally agree. However there was 20 million watching the quarter final, so on average 3 people per TV set, leaving 10 million people who don't watch football to be at perry barr. Call it off1 point

Possibly so Scott Nichols got 10 for kings Lynn and worrall got 5+1 for Ipswich tonight. So if Nichols don’t get 10 kings Lynn get a bigger pasting and Worralls point help Ipswich get the win it’s what happens in speedway. You either get a good guest or a bad one it’s the nature of the beast. So are you not expecting wolves to need a guest before the end of the season ? Swings and roundabouts always has been always will be1 point
-
If I supported one of those teams yes. I don't seem to get as hung up on the guest situation as others. If somebody is representing my team, I support them. I must just have a different mentality.1 point

You forget mr Bates is on the committee along with mr Godfrey who were part of the rising star idea. The new speedway rule is isolation for 100 days not 10. That should give us time to make team changes using old averages to suit as Ipswich did with cookie. Watch this space. No doubt Anders will be getting another call soon.1 point
-
Not going to either. Ipswich at Lynn for the 2nd time tonight so that fixture gone. Some riders contacted about potential interest but thats as far as it goes. Could have used the excuse of not enough pit space for social distancing etc but instead chose to ignore it. Was only brought in to appease those upset at the damage done to the MSDL due to banning ghost teams. was never going to happen and won't be mentioned again1 point

Agreed. Think we should enjoy the fact we have live speedway and be thankful for that. For a long time it looked like there would be no team so I’m very thankful Rob Grant took over. He may not be everyones cup of tea but deserves a lot of credit.Hopefully enough people come through the gates when restrictions are lifted to get us through this condensed season and we can all look forward to 2022 with renewed optimism. Sundays without speedway just wouldn’t be the same.1 point

Couldn’t believe just as my partner & I waved when the announcer asked if anyone had traveled up from sunny! Devon the heavens opened! Did fill my Tennents up almost quicker than I could drink it! Talked to some very friendly people & had more drinks in the bar before getting train back to city centre. Gutted I didn’t see any speedway but will make the effort to go back once I’ve dried out!!1 point
