  1. You can't change the weather but another classic example of how British speedway shoots itself in the foot and lives in the past. The season should be finished now. The play-off for what they are worth in a 6 team league should have begun the first week in September. Octobers are cold, mostly wet and dark!

  2. Yes I remember the rule, personally if the referee is satisfied a rider does it on purpose he should have the power to award the race as it stood at the time the rider fell. I despise cheating in any form in this sport, unfortunately some of the people running the sport don’t share my views.

  4. Season should be April - September and if any clubs can do challenges in March or October that pays then good luck to them

  5. Whilst there may be poor communication, fans are experienced enough to know the situation, semi final or not. There's been a s#!+ load of rain & the track will be a bog pit. If that doesn't sound to your liking, don't go. If you do go, you can't complain, your choice

  6. Mustve been the reason for heat 14 - exhausted and just couldn't hold on anymore plus no energy left to get up.......

  8. The BSPL are delighted to announce that for 2022 British Speedway will launch three exciting new championships, the first being the expansion of the British Speedway Individual Championship which will now be rebranded the “British Speedway Grand Prix Championship” and the “British Rising Star Grand Prix Championship” which replaces the current British Youth finals. The British Grand Prix Championship will consist of 16 permanent riders for 2022 and will run over 7 Championship rounds similar to the current Speedway World Grand Prix Championship, the top 12 riders in the series will automatically qualify for the 2023 series. They will be joined by the winner of the British Rising Star Championship who will gain a full-time berth into the showpiece series of British Speedway, plus the top 3 riders from the all-new British Grand Prix Challenge, which will be contested over 2 separate Semi-Finals where the top 8 from each will qualify for a one-off final to secure places for the 2023 British Speedway Grand Prix Championships. The British Grand Prix Championship will be supported by headline Sponsor Medequip under their Manage@Home Online Retail Store brand, who are a leading supplier of support living products to the UK market. Each championship round will see the podium riders walking away with a prize fund of £3k, £2k & £1k respectively with appearance money for the rest of the field, the overall Grand Prix championship top 3 finishers will share a prize fund of £50,000 plus a brand new Van for the champion curtsey of series partner Vanarama, other associate sponsors include long term speedway supporters Adrian Flux, Tru7 Group, Anlas & WD40 The all-NEW British Rising Star Grand Prix Championships will replace the British U21 & U19 championships and will feature riders listed on the current BSPL Rising Star entry lists, the championship will start with 3 Challenge Finals consisting of 12 riders with the top 4 riders from each meeting qualifying for the 12-rider British Rising Star Grand Prix Championships which will act as the support series at all the British Speedway Grand Prix Championship events, giving spectators the opportunity for more action per round and watching some of the rising talents in the country alongside their more well-known stars. The overall top 3 finishes after 7 Championship rounds will share a prize fund of £25,000.00, finishing positions across the championship will dictate their rising star status for the 2023 league season. The 12 finalists becoming 3* riders, riders finishing 5th-8th in the Challenge Finals will take 2* status, and riders finishing 9th-12th or not entering or with limited experience of league racing will take on the 1* rating, there will be no 4* rising star riders anymore. Both Series will be screened As-Live on British Eurosport across the season. Rob Godfrey, Chairman of the BSPL commented “These championships would be exciting for British riders and would give them much needed earning potential, especially for those who are not fortunate enough to race in Poland, or are not quite ready for Poland or who are coming into their twilight years of racing, unfortunately, this is just completely made up because here at the BSPL we are beyond coming up with creative ideas that could give British riders riding in Britain reason for taking up the sport or sticking to it because we need to make domestic racing work for home-based riders first and foremost”

  9. Well said. How many empty race nights in the summer months with some clubs having just two meetings in a month of June or July or even August. Again those in charge seem totally incapable of getting to grips with what is a summer sport (unless you are an Ice speedway fan) and running crucial meetings in late September and October when the chances are that the weather will be adverse. Riders moan about track conditions etc. yet they are the main culprits causing the problem with DU and fickle attitudes to racing conditions. Years gone by riders got on with it even with a layer of sawdust, today, the cat or dog can wee on a track and it is unsuitable for racing. If the BSPL do not make drastic changes to ensure it survives and attracts new punters, then you have nothing left. Go back to the 60’s and 70’s when you had enthusiastic part time riders with character who did not need rocket propelled bikes to make racing exciting or competitive and it produced local icons and international riders who competed against what was put in front of them. If a club reserve claimed the scalp of a heat leader all the better. Today is bland by comparison when it comes to entertainment and I am not just talking about the racing. All too clinical today with not much going for it. Think on those in charge, you do not have much time left to rescue the sport.

  16. I agree that's why Poland always finished by end of September. Get the playoffs done, if need to have something in October have some sort of 4TT etc.

  17. In its basic form…it will hold money (donated by fans) for the purpose of the speedway club. The speedway club can request funds and must give a purpose and sufficient rationale for the funds. The Trust can also have a say in what the funds are to be used for.

  18. True but then again Dave Rowe could comfortably commentate on the racing even if they doubled the speed at which they showed it.

  22. Clubs diddnt even have a say in who they pick in the play offs. So doubt they could say anything about this.

  23. You not interested in fair play or transparency then? I'd suggest many of the thousands of folk who no longer go to speedway were.

  26. the way the track rode never really changed from ht 1 to ht 15 and Berwick didn’t want to come back down for a rain off even if it could be fitted in it was more the kent riders thought it was going to get called after ht 10 but the rain stopped at ht 9 for a while so both teams carried on it wasn’t really that the kent riders pulled out their rides dew to conditions it was more equipment failure amazing what wd40 can do in these conditions and some not wanting to dirty their other bike the same thing happened pretty much in the bullets pits but there riders helped each other out with letting them use their bikes while other mechanics got it going again good to see Len congratulating the bullets riders after the meeting going to be close end to the season

  27. It is whatever you want it to be... it will be like minded people who want to retain speedway in the area for the long term putting forward options to achieve this goal... when Rob was going to walk many people were profoundly impacted and were prepared to do something to retain the sport in the area... I believe there is the good will at present to put something into place that will mean we can not only support a team and a track but secure a future for the sport in the area for the foreseeable future... If we can't reach a consensus so be it and if it doesn't happen what have we lost... a wet Tuesday night in October... but the bar will be open which will counter that somewhat... All ideas and proposals will be aired... Regards John
