Someone once said that Forum sites were where the miseries the world meet up. He was right. I was in the south stand and thought the whole spectacle was brilliant apart from the crashes. Zmarlik alone justifies the entrance fee. What a rider. Just what do people expect? Here's a challenge to everyone who thought that meeting was poor. Go on Youtube and find a meeting from the 70's, 80's, or 90's where there is multiple passing in every race and then post it on this forum. You will search in vain. This and and premiership plays off's have been represented the best of modern speedway as a spectacle. I've been watching speedway since the 60's and I'm not sure I've seen anything much better than these last three tv meetings.13 points

I am surprised at the comments..I was there and I thought it a great meeting with more passing than I’ve seen for a long time ..there was as much passing as in the Premiership play off for me and I was there as well for that…..people must have incredibly high expectations of speedway these days because I’ve been going since the 70’s and that was as good a world level meeting I have seen6 points

Point of order Lambert was not excluded for missing the 2 minutes. Its ONE minute in a rerun. so sorry mate you are wrong6 points

Ok, Glasgow had an awful meeting, it happens, Monarchs were up for it and deserved to go through to the final, Edinburgh is not a trick track but is a technical one , and often riders see it for the first time and it gets in their heads, took Josh G a few years to get round it, as for Tom , he has been brought up riding another technical track at Eastbourne, so adapted easily and for some of the comments on here that Tom was cheating in heat 15 by falling off because we were losing on a 5-1, give your heads a wobble as Tom gives 100% and is still young , he made a mistake, no way would he risk an injury by deliberately falling off when he has some big meetings coming up. Edinburgh have 3 solid heat leaders and a very impressive second string in Kye Thomson, Glasgow have 1 heatleader since Ulrich was injured and have done well to finish 2nd in the league, I reckon the Monarchs are peaking at the right time and will go all the way , and good luck to them. Please stop with the money men can't buy a league title crap, us fans have been through extremely difficult times over the years and are happy to be secure that we have a team each year to follow. I Don't mind a bit of banter but some of it is below the belt, football type stuff, such as the unwashed weegies, not funny. Rant over6 points

I couldn’t have said it better myself..I left the meeting today thinking blimey that was good and then I read the forum !….speedway at top level racing wise has actually never been better in my opinion , or at least from the 70’s onwards which is when I have watched from.5 points

Just back in from the meeting so not seen the TV yet…from what I saw Jason Doyle was incredibly lacking speed all day and actually caused the Swedes and Woffinden to crash but obviously couldn’t be excluded but if he had had the pace then the crashes wouldn’t have happened…but when I re watch on TV I will see better not sure why Lambert was excluded as that was a bit out of the blue …my first live look at Zmarzlik and what a talent..he was going half speed at times to watch his team mate…worth the admission alone for any meeting…5 points

So GB have TWO team managers and neither of them could make sure their riders got to the tapes on time!5 points

If those who run the sport are happy to celebrate 'other teams' success as if it was their own, then it shows, when you add in the constant sharing of riders at any given moment, that there really isnt any rivalry at all is there? No wonder many fans, mainstream media, and major potential sponsors, dont treat it as a serious team sport, given the plethora of evidence to the contrary laid bare in front of them all the time..5 points

So nice to see Natalie back presenting, no disrespect but Abi & Charlie just don’t cut it imho!4 points

Depends how many of those races were in Poland4 points
-
Yes but that was due to everyone getting out wide because that was the only place to generate speed. Anyway, glad you enjoyed it, I did too but expected a better racetrack, so inferior to Monday night.4 points

Hellstom Bangs was impressive, no lack of effort for very little reward.Good expieriance for him though.4 points

Bloody Bewley should have been in the bloody team. So much better than bloody Lambert...4 points

crikey… I can’t believe I will type this… but… I used to believe the “trick track” myth of Armadale… my team now seem to have dialled into how Armadale works and our curse as one of the worst teams at Armadale does seem to be lifting. The fact that a few teams have won at Edinburgh or ran them very close should also back up the fact it’s not so much a trick track any more… more that it’s just a technical track! Nowak will not have seen anything like that in Poland as they’re all on the biggest, faster side! It’s being able to get round a track like Armadale that will make you a better all round rider!4 points

There's a difference between riding against Leicester and riding against the most powerful team in club speedway.3 points

I'm gobsmacked at people's comments on here... "Processional racing"?! There was passing from heat 1 onwards! There were races with 10, 12 passes in! I struggle to think of 1 race out of the 21 that didn't have at least 1 pass. Incredible. I really hope it didn't come across badly on the tv as some of the racing was sensational tonight. The Poles look a class above and the only way they will lose it is if someone team rides them out of the final. The 2 nasty crashes were both caused by Doyle being so slow! Incredible that all 3 walked away (especially Tai). "Processional"3 points

Don't think anyone has said it was a poor meeting, far from it, it was exciting, some spectacular passes and you're right about Bartosz, he's on another level to most. The main gripe is the track prep, riders were forced to go out wide virtually all night, even Bart got in trouble at one point when riding mid track, fortunately he has the skill to correct the move and still romped home. As good as it was it wasn't a patch on Monday imo, here's hoping tomorrow is at least as good if not better.3 points

Instant gratification... I agree with you 100% about years gone by. People go on about Wembley in 1981, but we remember that for TWO races...3 points

Just got back in from the meeting, not the best ever meeting from the NSS but still a great nights entertainment... These lads really do put EVERYTHING on the line at this level... Saw Tai's crash from the top row of the Monster Rig and feared the worst given the angle and the hellish speed he went into the fence... Great to see him walk away... All to play for tomorrow if Tai is fit.., You only need to get to the semi and Robert and Tai are more than capable of delivering no lasts in that race... And then to the Final, and who knows what may happen? Even the best can be a nano second off at the start... Met plenty of Poles tonight, who certainly enjoyed themsleves, , and a fair few from around the country.. Proper Speedway atmosphere on the 3rd and 4th bend Nige...3 points

You have to feel a bit sorry for the French. They scored a solid 24 points today but were the only ones who raced the Swedish seniors. Everyone else got 7 points against the Swedes but the French only got 3. That extra 4 points would have put them right up in contention for the 3rd place going into day 2.3 points

For anyone who still thinks Bewley should have been in, just remember that Lambert only dropped points on the track in ONE ride...3 points

Glad you have enjoyed yourself son .get yourself to bed son school Monday . Let the adults pick the bones out of that .3 points

I have to admit, my initial reaction to your post was to chuckle. However, I'll attempt a reply. I would disagree that track size is the important factor. Variety is the spice of life after all. A quick scan of some Championship venues (and I hope these measurements are up to date!) shows: Edinburgh 260m Redcar 266m Now, you obviously don't enjoy sunny Armadale but do you not enjoy Redcar meetings? I've always thought the racing there was pretty decent. Then consider: Glasgow 302m Newcastle 300m I think it was Jaizer who said Newcastle has suffered due to modern engines, and yet it's only 2m smaller than Ashfield! And, just to show size isn't the important bit, Berwick is 368m. Nowak scored 0 there if I'm not mistaken? Over the years, I've witnessed some fantastic racing at the likes of sunny Armadale, Mildenhall, Trelawny, even Arena Essex on occasion. All small tracks. As I said at the beginning, variety is the spice of life. Sheffield is my favourite track in the UK and I enjoy my trips to Poland with its big tracks aplenty. So it's a no from me on the question of minimum size. Indeed, on the basis of the above, I think the argument should be centered more around track shape. All hail sunny Armadale3 points

Breaking News on Fan Power last night. Carol has put Eastbourne now into Liquidation and BSPL has taken all the Assets away. Where did all the gate money go? Riders owed Quite a fair bit if rumours true. Other bills unpaid. Lets hope now someone can move in and take control and plan for next year. I for one will support the club.3 points

Was looking straight at the clock and Lambert wasn't even sat on the bike when the time was up.,2 points

... and that is totally unfair !!! The scoring system is also unfair.... I will never understand why mending something that's unbroken.2 points

Interesting how it’s never mentioned how many ‘accidents’ he’s caused over the last few years! He’s worse than Freddie and not far behind Pedersen for me but because he’s a nice guy he gets away with it!2 points

Just thought I'd remind people of your prediction, Steve...2 points

So you're not the only one who doesn't have a clue, big deal.2 points

I also think that the track is fine...Lambert just proved it.2 points

I’m still perplexed why Team GB have two team managers?2 points

Couldn't get him back from Brazil in time. We have a better midfield without him though2 points

If we are to stand a chance tonight it starts from the gate. The most important part of a race at Armadale is between there and exiting bend 2/back straight. Come out ahead of them and you force them to make passes which few will other than Masters and Pickering. The other is watching each heat, seeing the track change and reading the racing. When the Monarchs are hammering round the outside at speed in the later heats yet Wells and Nicol persist at a snails pace on the dead inside line, wtf! Time to stand up, all of them.2 points

Wow your not bitter at all! It was Brennans first ever visit and he got on just fine. Nowak just a typical pole that can ride very well flat out but lacks the throttle control that is required for a track like Armadale.2 points

Totally agree but I think it will take a while to 're build the trust of fans and sponsors but I really hope someone can come in and do it. I loved my visits to Eastbourne and hope I will be able to again in the not too distant future.2 points

One man has done this damage, not the club. Promoters come and go but the club is far bigger than just one man..2 points

I'd support Eastbourne again but would have to be at Championship level at least as I have a very long journey each way to Arlington but I will never again buy a season ticket, too much damage has been done to fans trust etc by this fiasco.2 points
-
A lot of people have lost money and you have to feel for riders, sponsors, fans and the impact on other clubs. With regards to a new promotion, I don't think brave, just a well thought out business model with investment up front. One of the main issues for me is the damage done to the fan base and some club sponsors, hopefully this damage will be repaired over time.2 points

Berwick is a decent club , probably better than it was a few years ago but the sport has to move forward if finances allow , so yes let’s have more clean pits , better change rooms and better promotion of the team2 points

Yes look at the time. I'm off for a kip. Are you at work, well done. Didn't know circuses were hiring . I suppose they must be desperate, after Brexit.2 points

God its really really really a shame Workington had to close down and sensible considerate intelligent fans have been lost to the sport and this Forum. On the other hand........2 points

I understand why some fans are upset at Lambert’s selection over Bewley, but there is - with the greatest respect - a huge difference between beating the likes of Danny King, Richard Lawson and Sam Masters week in week out when compared to competing with world class riders like Zmarzlik, Janowski, Madsen, etc. As has already been mentioned, Lambert is on form - he’s made the last 3 GP semi finals, his Ekstraliga average is approx 1 point per meeting higher than Bewley and over the last 4 Ekstraliga meetings Lambert scored 20 more points than Bewley. And he has experience at this level. Bewley doesn’t and the pressure of performing at that level could impact negatively on a young rider. As we saw last night, on track prepared for the home team, Bewley was still beaten by MPT, Scott Nicholls and Chris Harris. No disrespect to those riders, but as has been pointed out the track won’t be prepared as Belle Vue riders like it so any home track advantage will be very much reduced. Bewley didn’t win the British Final on his home track, so he’s likely to fair less well against much tougher opponents. Bewley is a great rider and given time will hopefully become one of the best riders in the world. But he isn’t there yet. it was a tough decision but Lambert is the right partner for Tai IMO.2 points
