I do believe in the playoffs. Poole are not Champs until we win the final. But top 4 teams only, not 6. Much time has been wasted with the quarter finals. Unnessasary. These playoffs could and should have been already finished.3 points

Going back to the NDL and its rider developmentsuccess or failure - for me there needs to be a clear distinction of what success means. For example, there are riders who will always make it regardless (Gilks, Brennan, Edwards, Bewley, Lambert, Pallin), those that enter the NL on 3.00 and leave on 9 plus.. they would have made it regardless of the league structures or if there was only second halves after main meetings and amateur meetings available to them. For me success or failure of the NDL is whether those riders who perhaps have to work a bit harder (I dont know a different phrase for this and I am not suggesting that those who will make it regardless have not or do not work extremely hard for their success and indeed I am sure it always contributes to it), for example here Danny Ayres, Ben Morley, Alfie Bowtell, where participating in the National league really made a huge difference to them and was probably the only way the made it to higher leagues. Can we say in 2021 any middle order riders at the start of the league are now able to make the step up? This is where the NDL should really come in to its own for rider development in my view, for riders like Spooner, Verge, Coles to really give them the step up they need to Championship but also a "challenging" cushion in the NDL for confidence and experience. And the only other option is to have a properly MDL/NJL formated and enforced second teams to run, without fail, after every league meeting by every UK club.3 points

To rebuild some of the club finances!! Are you really a Pirates fan as you seem to be critical of quite a few things to do with Poole?3 points

You prefer rough places instead? Poole is a really lovely place to live. Miles of golden beaches, resteraunts, second biggest natural harbour in the world, Jurassic coast on our doorstep. And the biggest speedway club in the country. What’s not to like?3 points

Iv no idea where the NDL goes from here, will the BSPL keep it to its current points level which will mean some riders will fall by the wayside because of averages, some of those that move up will also find it tough because of the inflated averages due to the BSPL imposed points limit, they have dug a bloody deep hole that they need to get out of, if keeping NDL costs down is the most important aspect of the NDL then i fear for its future, the BSPL need to look at the costs of senior racing had they done this in previous seasons then the NDL and Speedway in the UK might not be in its present predicament, role on 2022 and lets see what those in power decide for next season.3 points

Never a fan of p.offs to be honest. Performance over the entire season should be what counts ...not just over 30 heats in a sudden death final. This season Poole would have been league champions. p offs running in early winter i n the mud are hardly a good advert for speedway. If the TV sponsors want to have their cameras at a "grand final " meeting then by all means have a "p off" called the BT Sports Trophy or something.2 points

one thing i would say is it is not as easy as some think to have a live stream, you need more than just rocking up with a camera and an internet connection. Edinburgh have been working on it for 3/4 years and have been evolving the service to where it is now. Even this year over the course of the season they have continued to improve adding replays and improved the graphics, it really is quite impressive. To do it all in house means they can cover every match and have done all Monarchs and Devils matches this season. I wish more away fans had tuned in this season, i really think if more had known about it and seen it they would really see the benefit. If you are a poole fan and not travelling today you shouldefinitely check it out www.edinburghmonarchs.co.uk/emtv Glasgow pay QTV for their service, they do other sports including scottish football teams during lockdown. It is a pretty good service as well although not sure many clubs could afford that, i hope they got enough folk watching so they can continue to do it next year. I watched on thursday and was glad to have access, well i was until about ht6. Was great to see Redcar get there stream started although i was at the meeting so not seen it in action.2 points

Saw the clip, and yes that was out of order, however you need to realise their is a fierce rivalry between both clubs and when the tigers were the poor relations for years, we Glasgow fans took an immense amount of stick, and now that Glasgow are doing well, some Monarch fans can't take it, and I assure you the abuse we got last week from some of those fans, I wouldn't even repeat and that was after we applauded their team for the win, so please don't judge us by one clip, there are good and bad fans in both camps2 points

Thank you for buying the stream and am pleased you thought the track and racing was good. The efforts of the track staff and volunteers to get this meeting on were unbelievable. Regarding the lights they are ok for those riding and those viewing at the track. Filming always makes things look darker and quite frankly we shouldn't be racing in October so presumably the costs of further upgrading the lights on the off chance that a meeting occurs AND is filmed in October wouldn't be cost-effective. Re-the delays I'm surprised by your comments as you actually watched the stream unlike others who just like to criticise. It may be that some of the info relayed to the crowd via the announcer wasn't repeated by the commentators, so here goes: Heat 4 bad crash resulting in exclusion of Miskowiak and eventual withdrawal from meeting. Heat 6 both GB riders fall, race stopped and re-run with the 2 remaining Poles. Heat 9 delay as doctor assesses Miskowiak, plus member of crowd takes ill and is seen by para medic/first aiders. Also discussions between ref and clerk of the course re-decision of Polish TM as to whether Miskowiak would be replaced by the other U-21 rider in this race. Heat 10 scary crash by Chris Harris, race stopped and re-run. Heat 11 slight delay as Poland forced, under rules, to only go with one rider (see Heat 9). Heat 13 unfortunate delay as Team Managers work out riders for the remaining 3 heats. Under the rules Heat 15 would feature the two top scorers from both teams. In the case of GB this meant Bewley and Lambert or Harris - so not clear cut. In the case of Poland this meant Zmarzlik and Musielak or Janowski - also not clear cut. The remaining riders would then be selected for Heat 13 and 14 with the added issue of what happens to Miskowiak's 'ride' - presumably Lampart? And presumably both team managers were waiting to see what the other would do, after all both teams could still win! All the ref could do was constantly ask the Clerk of the Course to contact him and he did. I suppose he could have put the 2 minute warning on and excluded 'riders' under the 2 minute rule but he like everyone else wanted to see racing not exclusions! Meanwhile whilst all this was happening the rain started and we'll never know who was selected for Heats 14 and 15, unless someone who was in the pits can advise. I was hoping for a SoN rematch in a last heat decider, that would have been something else, but we'll never know.2 points

I think your assessment is pretty accurate, and I think it's as much a statement on society and how mindsets have changed. People today seem to only respond to instant gratification and instant stimulation. Long gone are the days of supporters who would be there through thick and thin. It's to do with the gimmick mentality, the new era, call it what you like, there are so many things competing for our attention these days. You only have to look at a speedway crowd and they are watching a race, then looking at there phones, then watching a race etc. There's so much competition for our attention and our ££ and unfortunately speedway and it's promoters don't have the skillset or desire to keep up. They chuck in the playoff hoping to attract new supporters forgetting what impact it will have on their hard core fans, much as you stated above. Now don't get me wrong, you can't keep all the people happy all the time. But to demonstrate the business acumen of our beloved speedway promoters, consider this: We've had a pandemic for over 18 months changing the way we live, travel and socialise etc. During the height of the pandemic, some tried a streaming service a couple of times, then gave up. How do you get an ever aging fan base to watch and pay for speedway, how do you get away fans to watch speedway and not have to travel. The sport has been begging for clubs to add to their revenue by offering a streaming service, a centralised service, a season ticket holders service, just to allow say 500 fans from 300 miles away to watch their club and vice versa. So in 18 months 12 of which were sat on their backsides, both Scottish clubs have demonstrated their business acumen, Redcar have stepped up and are doing the same. If I've missed any others out, I apologise, but they obviously haven't advertised/promoted it well enough for me to notice (Poole once or twice maybe?). And that's it. My hat goes off to the promotions of Edinburgh, Glasgow, and Redcar. The rest? You deserve all you get Here was the chance to centralise a scheme, offering season long passes for different leagues. How do I add a few hundred away supporters from Poole or Kent to my revenue in Glasgow or Edinburgh ? Exactly! what about the reverse arrangement? People have changed, their attention spans have changed, the only constant is the leadership of the BSPL.2 points

If I'm thinking of the correct race, Masters and Schlein had another game of tiddlywinks (second one in two attempts). Nobody down on that occasion but the 'incident' occurred just before Kemp fell, hence all 4. Strange afternoon. Felt nothing at all like a national cup final. No cheerleaders, no fireworks (ok, I get why that wouldn't work in the daylight!), no pipe band, half empty terraces. Just an ordinary day out. Another dismal failure by our top 3. 5 race wins out of 14 may well have been an improvement on last night but it's still unacceptable. Quite honestly, I wouldn't let any of them wear the Monarchs race jacket at sunny Armadale again in 2021. Star of the show was Benjamin Basso. He and Danyon Hume drilled another couple of nails in the trick track myth. Hats off to Poole. Always pleasing to see Rory on track. Happy retirement when the time comes1 point

And a next level that doesn't have the majority of riders that ride as heat leaders in the top tier... The level currently from step three to step two is too big, as basically in reality it's not far off going from step three to step one in one move... Having one or two experienced old heads from the tier above in most teams brought the riders on and gave them an idea of what the next level looked like... Now you can go from learning your craft, gradually improve and move up, and be facing riders who just represented Team Great Britain in a test match v Poland...1 point

Because they didnt have fixed race nights... Meaning you could ride here, there and everywhere... Meaning the top riders rode Poland Sunday, Sweden Tuesday, Denmark Wednesday, and then GB some, and sometimes all, of the other four days, with (apart from Tuesday and Sunday), every top league team racing on all the other nights. Then the top lads left and said there was "too much racing".. So we changed the top league to two nights to accommodate them.. And then they never came back... So instead it meant everyone not earning big money abroad could double up and down and ride every night of the week somewhere in the UK should both their teams be in action.. And guest even if they didnt.. With these riders now racing against "Rising Stars", in both leagues, several times a night/week, rather than against "GP Stars" several times a night/week, which they have spent a fair portion of their careers doing.. A fantastically well devised system I am sure we all agree...1 point

Suggest that Plymouth consider their options…..and the BSPL look very carefully at Plymouth Speedway’s finances . Mr Jordan’s track record of bringing “security and stability” to his venture at Eastbourne has wrecked the club. Highlights the weak governance of the sport when he is still allowed to have any involvement with a speedway stadium. Can the riders not seek payment of unpaid invoices from his company through the courts ?1 point

Haven't streamed anything since the covid restrictions. Only 3 clubs do it as far as I'm aware. Edinburgh fans want to watch it, then they are going to have to attend!1 point

Don't retreat on my behalf! You're right, a lot of people say the same about Edinburgh. Trick track, home advantage, etc. It's usually a lazy claim, backed up by little or no evidence to support the opinion and make it fact. Long live small, technical (not trick) tracks, including Eastbourne It was a p1ss poor performance from our top 3. Only 3 race wins from 14 outings. Unacceptable. They'll need to win at least 10 out of 14 tomorrow to give us a chance of gaining a decent result. I guess, if we have to endure play offs in this country, at least it's the top 2 contesting the final. On that basis, the aggregate score was justice and the potential of a 'tainted title' for Monarchs has been put to bed.1 point

No stream sorry. Wish all clubs streamed but don’t think it was a viable project the way it was done with outside company. Needs to be done in house and could be cheap to do. But promotion wants fans through turnstile, which is obvious.1 point

I do understand that but I can't help but feel the Promoters have kinda caused their own problems. If you think back, each track had their 'base' crowd. The hardcore. The Mr Campbell's of this world could sit down each Nov / Dec and think, "right, we've x season ticket holders for next season. That's £y. Now, we can have a directors' meeting and decide who we want to sign and what contracts we should offer those riders." Back then, the base crowd was larger than it is today. Now, I'm aware there are several reasons for this but I can't help but think that one of those is that the integrity of the sport remained intact. Every League meeting meant something in the grand scheme of things and the table toppers were crowned Champions. Even sides at the bottom didn't race in front of empty terraces. Changing that mindset to allow a team below first to lift the trophy also changes the paying customers' philosophy towards the sport. Why buy a season ticket when only 2 or 3 fixtures truly matter? And instead of routinely turning up, some may now think, "hmm, Berwick this week. We usually beat them and we're almost certain of finishing in the top 6. I'll save my money and go to the important meeting next month instead." Now, when that fan then repeats their thought process to their mate(s), they in turn then think, "och, Mike's not going on Friday, I'll probably give it a miss as well" and, before you know it, your floating punter numbers have nosedived. Lower season ticket numbers also affects the thinking of Mr Campbell and his friends. "Our base budget is a lot lower for next season. I don't think we can afford Jock McTavish, which is probably just as well given the lower points limit. We can blame that if anyone asks." This then leads to the floating punter thinking, "look at the points limit. How low can you go? What are they doing to the sport? I'm not going to watch rubbish. I want Jock McTavish back. At least he was top quality." And so it goes on and on. Let's just hope it's not too late for some kind of salvage operation.1 point
