  1. Buster Chapman is not on the Management Board. He’s not had any say since he stood down two years ago. Having been a member of the BSPA, it’s my view that having a sports’ professional with no affiliation to any club as CEO would be far better than the current situation which tends to rely on well intentioned - and hard working - amateurs. Running a sport needs different skills to running a team, and needs to be a full time job

  2. Agree with the last bit in brackets. Spending lots of money on all new stuff every year is completely unnecessary. A new van every year is also unnecessary. There are so many costs to clubs and riders that can be cut. A 10mm bolt will last for years but many will have all new every year because they're shinier - totally unnecessary. Four helmets a meeting in each colour, totally unnecessary - did anyone see how many Emil S had accumulated?

  3. I don't know if Ian Jordan is still involved in Plymouth but based on the unpaid debts he has left from Eastbourne he should be banned from all speedway. That goes for any promoter who has unpaid debts. They should receive lifetime bans. It's disgraceful and I feel for any rider that has had this happen to them over the years.

  4. You would not believe the issues Ian Jordan has caused the club let alone the debts he has racked up, he's cost the rders, sponsors and fans a lot of money and cost the club a year of track action along with giving the club a bad name..

  5. Honestly This new venture is sparking some interest as it even made the Look North segment on the morning news today They showed a segment of the H18tory treble winning meeting celebrations at Derwent Park Regards THJ

  6. Probably not an unrealistic figure but Lawson will be including engine wear and tear, clutch parts and then the cost of the 2/3 bikes he was running spread over the season. Thers a hefty amount of start up costs involved (rightly or wrongly).

  7. First of all i feel i have to state that i am in no way a racist. We have a young black girl who lives next door who we have a good relationship with i pick up /drop off her 6 year old son at school when she has to go to work etc. But i do think that the snowflake/woke points of view often creates a problem when there isn't one and in a lot of cases makes things worse. Your post is a typical example of this. You have twisted things to fit your point of view. Your comment. (I could go on about it not being about black people being interested, its about being given a fair chance.) is in my opinion in this case B/S. First of all about Black people not being interested all you have to do to prove that this is the case is to look around the crowd at any speedway meeting and sadly you wont see many ethnic minority faces, you don't have to be given a chance to view a speedway meeting. Then there is a comment in a post from Beowulf a speedway fan of Indian decent who states that his own family take the micky out of him for his unusual interest. and that he says he is not typical of his generation. comments that indicate there is not much interest in motor sport from ethnic people straight from the horses mouth. Then there are numerous posts of people posting the names of numerous ethnic minority riders that have been given a chance as you call it .My point is for the reason posted above there is not much interest from ethnic minority people. But those that have an interest have been given the chance in the sport the odd few ie Lindback have done very well the others named have not done as well just like a lot of white riders . Then you mention a successful reigning world champion who is a black chap. If as you say ethnic people are not being given a fair chance how the hell did he become world champion without all the backing and support that takes . We have both read the same thread you have taken from it what you have wished to see and i have done the same life's all about opinions .But its not a fact that either one of us is right.

  8. There’s not a problem with self interest. What is important though, is they have no interest in any speedway business. This is one of the reasons why the Ekstraliga in Poland is flourishing - one person at the top with no affiliation to any one team, who no doubt takes a percentage of all of the deals. But, like with Bernie Ecclestone and F1, better to get 75% of a £1m sponsorship deal than 100% of a £100k one

  10. Not this Poole fan! Plymouth will be strong home and away and have a fantastic lineup. Going to be an entertaining season and I already look forward to my visit in 2022 when Poole are in town.

  11. Seems a very fair unbiased informed opinion to me ,this is something some fans from a certain club (we all know who) are incapable of doing.

  12. So the SGB site is wrong down to shoddy updating or ineptitude Yet again something very simple is a complete mess and what should be clear and transparent is opaque and shrouded in confusion

  13. Anyone signing Cook would be taking a bit of a gamble if we’re being honest. He struggled with confidence issues and then took time out for a period with personal issues. Maybe some clubs are reluctant to take that gamble..

  14. Maybe they missed Taps entrance money last season when Cook signed

  15. Haha. I'm not always right. I'll be shocked if it is Ipswich hes gone and not Peterborough. Just doesn't make sense

  16. Hes not been that great when round belle vue. His ideal club would be panthers where he's brilliant. Surprised they not signed him

  17. Comedy gold. Doubt very much Plymouth will win anywhere apart from Plymouth tbh! But maybe you should practice spelling Wimborne Road correctly in preparation! lol

  20. Really? Who's going to improve - Gilkes maybe? Atkins at a push? Barker, Kennett, Andersen are all decent riders but have reached their level. Interesting to see what Bowtell will do with no reserve rides. Decent side but will be a few better I think.

  21. I think you misunderstand the role of the SCB. It is certainly not independent as it comprises two representatives from ACU and two from BSPA plus a non-voting chairman, nor has it any responsibility for promoting the sport. It is purely an administrative, operational and disciplinary body

  23. Oh dear… Poland have created an U24 league, the same as how most sports have youth leagues, Jason Edwards has signed up for Grudziadz, he won’t be in the first team, he’s hardly at that sort of level. You just stick to talking utter rubbish and contributing meaningless posts, you’re not very good at the actual speedway stuff clearly

  24. I just don't get it John. What is your motive? On the Memories of Rye House Facebook page you make an ambiguous but provocative post, which then sets off a negative chain of events. After that causes an argument you delete all your posts so no one can see the trail, and then you make apologies. You then set up an alternative Facebook group which you call Rye House Speedway- the Fabulous Rockets. Yet on this Forum thread you admit that you haven't been since 1963 and you left because you were bored, and that having posted a link to a picture of a Rye House legend you don't know and don't really care who he is! However, that also means that this Forum thread has been diverted away from the positive news that there is actually a chance Rye House could return. I try not to post negative things in relation to your posts, but boy, you do make it difficult to come to any conclusion other than that you are trying to damage the possible Rye House return.

  25. Batch is no risk on that average. He goes well round the NSS so it’s a no brainer. Really like the team so far, would like to see Thorsell if he’s interested, would give us a really strong top 3 and 2 good 2nd strings. Others to complete teams I know but that would be a grand final team imo.

  26. He has always rode Brough well, and agree he is a top heat leader on a false average. I think a change will do him good (if in fact he does ride UK next season).

  28. Got to say that Plymouth are being severely underrated on the BSF. Eddie Kennett - Branded a risk because of his average but let's not forget a serious question here and that is the following. How committed was Eddie to Eastbourne last season when he wasn't being paid? I wouldn't bother trying by riding the boards or taking any risks knowing I wasn't going to get any cash for it. Ben Barker - Way better than his average suggests. No.1 at Newcastle and now he's going to be a second string on a track he knows inside out. Hans Andersen - will flourish around Plymouth. Look at how he rides and scores around Monmore. He bring a wealth of experience to the team and he's much better than his Championship average suggests. Michael Palm Toft - Not being biased here as a Panthers fan but Michael is one of the most underrated riders in Britain. Improving year on year in the Premiership against higher quality 1-7's so he shouldn't have any problems. Alfie, Dan & Atkins bring youth to the team and the experienced riders in the team should help the young trio improve across the board. Youngsters are fearless these days and they only look one way and that's up. I see 3 average improvers who can put a minimum 2.50 points combined on their starting GSA's (MPT, Hans & Barker) followed by two youngsters who've got potential to increase their starting GSA as well (Bowtell & Gilks) Eddie's average will drop imo but he'll be formidable at Home and Home form is a key topic in this sport.

  29. Some Poole fans on here are so happy to tell us we will be crap everywhere we go on our travels,I can’t wait till you announce your team as I will pull it apart like you have ours that’s if some not all can pull there heads out of there own arses to read it you would think you had won next years league already. I await your wonder teams 1-7 with baited breath if it’s going to be so easy why don’t you go into the big boys league and try and win that.,and let some of the rest of the minnows win something.it must be hell of a boring battering teams every week wouldn’t you prefer close racing and meetings which could go either way.or is it the Poole way just win at all costs.

  32. Yes and thanks goodness that Chapman did stand down as he did enough damage to the sport (engines fiasco) and handed it on to an equally dimwit. I respect your opinion even though it probably won’t happen and I’m aware you were a big part of delivering the fantastic NSS so credit to you. The sport needs more people like you.

  33. If Lynn announce there team and there's a 2021 Dads Army rider included then it adds to the suspence of whose new in the 2022 Dads Army

  40. So he's signed for Plymouth why then So in your opinion a rider with average more than a point lower than the others turns up more often? Haha aye nae bother pal lol

  41. I can't see Kennett improving his average, but everyone else could do once they get dialed in on the unique Plymouth track. As long as they beat Poole @ Wimbourne road I will be happy as will many others! People have overlooked that Richard Lawson's 2021 season finished with injury, has he fully recovered? might take a while to get back in the grove.

  43. the changes recommended by Shawcross were accepted but that was against a backdrop of crowds 10x what they are now, kind of made things easier to swallow. Going to one league and potentially losing 'stars' doesn't sit well nowadays. However, in my opinion it could work. What it must be like seeing the same teams every 4/5 weeks i can't imagine but it can't be a recipe for bums on seats (or crumbling terraces)

  47. I'd not be displeased with that team, one or two risks in there but looks exciting to watch and designed to win at home. Would always have a decent reserve if not two.
