Please can we bin that long protracted interval after heat 10 , we fall in a heap after that most weeks4 points
-
I'm almost certain that back in the old National league days, when I was a lad, there weren't any guests. R/R for heatleaders only and if both teams were operating R/R the #8's were promoted into the 1 to 7 at reserve with the top reserve promoted to the 1 to 5. Imagine the sales of pens at the track shop!! I'm sure a doctors note had to be provided as well. And all this before air fences and all the advancements in safety equipment. Of course the riders were probably riding on average twice a week so the probability of getting injured was less. Trouble is that guest riders are good news for promoters and riders alike so I guess they're here to stay despite the manipulation and lack of credibility they bring.4 points

No reason at all, just copying the stupid (in my view) SON rules from last few years!4 points

Someone made the decision, correct or not,,, if folk didn't look out for any updates or news on the big day out, what more could be done?3 points
-
Completely agree. This meeting should have gone ahead. I for one will not travel far any more because of this and certainly not plan in advance.3 points
-
Sport making a rock for its back as usual, the more they keep calling meetings off because of a "what if" means when it really is raining and they are wanting to get the meeting on, no one turns up because they will not believe it. Its like the boy who cried Wolf3 points

Was a damn crime when they got rid of Teletext i tell ya.3 points

They’re Aussies. Moaning comes naturally to them. They invented the expression “whinging Poms” to cover up the fact they’re the world’s best at whinging (I’d add a smiley face there but, for some reason, can’t)3 points

If we're not careful we are going to have likes of Brennan, Kemp. Palin, Flint, and others in the next wave coming through who is under 23, unavailable pretty much every weekend from May to October as more and more under 23 under 21 under 18 mickt mouse Events take place in Europe. The main Event dates should be fixed and agreed so UK fixtures can be settled but micky mouse should not take precedence over CL fixtures. Especially on Fridays when 8 teams often racing.3 points

I said to my friends ht 15 will be Pickering and Lawson.I just felt after his ht 12 win over Kurtz he was really up for it.I don't think iv'e seen any emotion from Lawson before but when he won that one their was a few fist pumps from him, like he thought he himself is back to where he should be.That reason alone i felt he was ready for ht 15 as he must have been pumped up to do it.3 points

Madness to regrade when your riders are doing well. It’s happening time and time again that the opposition are benefitting.2 points
-
We usually only win the odd heat after the dreaded re-grade but managed three this time thankfully. We should only be pulling the dirt back if we are using gate pattern A, which has us using gates 1 & 3 three times in the last five heats. No one I can think of grades their track to their own disadvantage. Its this sh!t that almost cost us defeat against Edinburgh.2 points

Two miles from the track and it was a steady drizzle from 7.30pm onwards , with a deluge at 8.50pm. So weather forecast was correct, early call off correct and if you can't be bothered to check websites before travelling boo hoo!2 points

Dillon more than covered for him! Got 8+1 didn't he? Great result considering two riders got zero. Thanks Dillon for guesting, some of us appreciate your points! Oh and Glasgow lost out more with Tom not there imo. And Basso not winning a race, but almost did I hear!2 points

Admittedly I think Czesztochowa would of still won fairly convincing anyway but Grudziadz are severely weakened by losing Pedersen - not to mention, they lost Tarasenko preseason too who was set for a big season I think. Was only Ostrow who were weak and then made the decision to release Klindt who is flying at the moment.2 points

The second meeting will be over by Heat 4.2 points

It's Glasgow it's always cold lol. Concern when it's bit heavier can get a bit one lineish going to suit the gating tarts worrall and Lawson2 points

Considering what Rob said in the clubhouse after last weeks meeting that it was almost called off after he put new shale down & it did not bed in & turned to mush, what would the track be like after a possible deluge for the riders & fans. We do not want to see/read "from the gate after bend 2 after being filled in. Some riders packing in as could not see." It is not about the "now" but track prep & conditions later.2 points

But it's the old chicken and egg syndrome, if your struggling you can't/won't pay anybody for help, but if you do and it does not work you loose even more money, speedway is a hard market to do well, and has an older fan base, so going forward got to try and attract younger fans, who may see a good show on TV GP meetings, but then to see speedway at brough park, scunny etc on a cool evening takes a hell of a lot of selling, they are gonna need more than just 15 heats of speedway over 90 minutes. One thing I suggested to various comets promotion's but did not get taken up, is try to get a local singer/group who has a following, get them to put a few songs on, people may come to watch them, then enjoy the speedway, or the singer/group may get further booking from someone in the crowd for a party etc, then it's Wni win, more people come to speedway, singer/group get a booking. I know it's not easy but if nothing is tried crowds gets lower speedway folds.2 points

You are quite right, would rather be winning by 10 than 20 but I feel after the start we've made this team has a decent chance of honours this year, to that end the two riders mentioned have had a bad week and need to do better, I'm sure they will. The beauty of the way the team is built is that somebody will usually step up if others are struggling.2 points

The Prem may only have six clubs but it's far less predictable than the Champs which has massive gulf between sides and is only competitive in some cases due to dodgy guests.2 points
-
You make a lot of good points, their could be a case for a guest for the missing No 1 rider but the guest for everything else has got completely out of hand again.2 points

Yet other countries dont use them and run their leagues fine... Which shows that there very much is an alternative... For me, a fit for purpose RR system would replace guests at a thrice.. Last night for example Kurtz and Wright could have taken all Zagars rides up to a maximum of seven each, (if Lemon had wanted them to)... And promote Bailey into reserve and Brennan into number 2.. Years ago when the No1's ran 10/11 point plus averages and sometimes scored 40 - 50% of a teams points under the 13 heat formula, you can kind of see that they needed replacing.. Now the disparity in level between all the Heat Leaders and Second strings is much closer, as is the difference between Second Strings and Reserves.. So use that close level to put in an affective RR system... Bottom line is injuries happen in all sports and they find a way of not doing what UK Speedway does.. The truth is, is that it is the lazy, too easy way to run it, rather than find a way of running the sport "properly", and of course it provides riders with earning potential seven days a week...2 points

Would anyone like a return to the days when, if two equal riders of both teams (say each team number 1) was missing, both teams promoted a number 8 to the team, and adjusted the riding order?1 point

Was a winning formula for Peterborough last season always having riders stepping up and with a mix of riders who rode specific tracks well, Lynn's toughest home match so far has been the Panthers without MPT but since then Peterborough have nose dived badly, , Nicholls and Andersen have improved confidence and machinery wise with some good scores in the championship but Lynn look strong , should be a good meeting on 30th May1 point

15 weren't bad neither. That gap was so small down the back straight i don't even think Victoria Beckham would have squeezed through there sideways.1 point

I can’t say it has ever bothered me really. We all know riders get injured, so guests are fundamental to the sport. I don’t mind if Chris Harris turns up with the visitors at Ashfield every week really. I do think once a guest is announced, they should only be replaced if injured/sick. And I do think if a rider isn’t coming back, they should be formally replaced with a permanent replacement. Apart from that, I don’t really see too many issues. There are already rules about how often you can guest for a team, or at a track, aren’t there?1 point

The story I heard was that Sam helped to peg out the design and then went to the US for a visit. When he came back, the layout had be altered to what we have today and he said he wanted nothing further to do with the project. The design remained, so Sam did not.1 point
