  1. Panthers woes continue...and how is this format any good for these "rising stars"..all this way to ride in 1 race cold against 2 top guys who have been dialed in all night...who's brainchild was that?

  2. Are you not always moaning about clubs raining meetings off based on a weather forecast?!

  3. If they were really serious about making this competition something you "must attend" then the third rider (injury cover), would be another one of the top five in the team... Instead we have the RIsing Stars doing the third rider role... And one is a guest just to take away any credibility the new competition may have had.... They just can't help themselves can they?

  4. Carry out for the train . Red Lion ( good Rangers pub ) , Brewers Arms , Leaping Salmon and the Black and Gold club . Yes it's Berwick away , an outing not to be missed . Let's hope for decent weather and none of our riders are away in some god forsaken Eastern European country for the Under 23 tiddlywinks championship or something equally ridiculous this week

  5. One ride for Rising Star rule is so stupid. Perfect example how good idea can be turned into farce. Probably 6 out of 15 heats affected.

  6. Max Clegg is a rising star?

  7. Absolutely ludicrous Panthers use a guest for a pairs event.

  8. Holder needs to stop the finger wagging when he crosses the line first or else someone's going to aim for his bad toe!!

  9. Olly Allen said that with the weather threat he would keep his RS ride till the final round of races... So if it doesnt go past Ht 12 you would have used your best two riders all the time... Mark Lemon had a better idea....

  14. Had a lovely afternoon chatting to people and seeing old riders, loved Reg Luckhursts short but sweet sing song, perhaps we should have all joined in. The model of Custom House Stadium was excellent but it wasn't until I got home and looked closely at the photos I had taken of it ( I was busy trying to pinpoint exactly where I stood) that I realised that the names of those who lost their lives at Lokeren were shown at the starting tapes, lovely touch to a great piece of work. We'll done to the organisers of the event can we have a few more similar events please especially when the sun is shining.

  15. To me the the sensible solution would be the teams no 6 or either of the rising stars (7 or 8)

  16. Having just received my latest edition of "Backtrack" I read with dismay that the next editions of both magazines may well be the last as the present team of Tony and Susie wish to move on. I sincerely hope that someone else picks up the mantel because I thoroughly enjoy reading both magazines and not having either to read will create a massive void in my retrospective insight into speedway's last "Golden Era". May I wish both Tony and Susie very best wishes and thank you most sincerely for producing two great magazines which I will cherish and continue to read the back numbers in an attempt to re-fresh diming memories.

  17. Its been announced its at Oxford august 12th, the night before the GP So if you want to plan ahead So a heads up for anyone wanting to book accomodation, Premier Inn Cowley a 10 minute walk from stadium Holiday Inn Express and Hampton by Hilton both by the Kasstad and 20 minute walk from stadium There are newly opened Premier Inns in the Citycentre and Botley which is just off the A34 Both on very regular bus routes which will get you to a couple of minutes walk from the stadium , you'll have to change in the Citycentre if going from Botley. From Citycentre all you need is a return ticket from Botley a daypass to cover all bus operators, currently £3.80 return or £4.30 for a day pass Theres a Travelodge on the Abingdon rd, and a Jury's hotel in Wolvercote Obviously lots of other hotels and BnB's around from very expensive to very cheap, ive just chosen big chain hotels that are normally not a rip off price to let anyone who wants to book well in advance know about

  31. Top 4 from each of the 3 qualifying rounds automatically qualified. They then picked 3 permanent wildcards and reserves. Benjamin was picked as a permanent wildcard and Tom as a reserve.

  35. Fear this event has all the ingredients of backfiring big time. To my mind hardly an inspiring event, screwed season tick holders again. Claiming how wonderful they are by keeping keeping entry fees the same despite more races. As a season ticket holders(going against my better judgement) I am hoping to be escorted by Securicor in view of cash I will need to carry. Suspect programme will be dearer than usual and they will also charge for parking.

  36. If the magazine(s) do fold, you can take enormous credit for creating a huge body of work in terms of interviews and articles which will be there for ever as an important, permanent and entertaining record of speedway times past. Superb tribute to Nigel Pearson as well by the way.

  37. Oh no! I had to cancel Backtrack for economic reasons but still subscribe to Classic, which I thoroughly enjoy - so professionally produced, full of my best era with our wonderful sport. I would miss it if it disappeared!

  38. Many thanks, Steve, for your kind words and unwavering support of both magazines. We wouldn't have come this far without our loyal subscribers.

  40. What an excellent watch. It would be good if Discovery+ showed this as part of their speedway coverage and maybe also on the big screen at Cardiff during the racing interval or before the meeting starts.

  41. 2022 Regulations 011.1.27Heat 15 In a re-run of heat 15, a non-disqualified rider who is unable to take part, may be replaced by a reserve or another ‘qualified’ rider.

  42. Don’t know why they didn’t call it off after the heavy shower as most people around me ( and myself) said it was going to be abandoned. Unless it was to give the juniors a chance after waiting patiently I and others couldn’t understand why they wanted to run heat 15 as Redcar had the 3 points and it was only Edinburgh who should lose out if they conceded a 4-2 or a 5-1.. How would Redcar fans of felt if Lewis Kerr or Erik Riss been injured in the re run?

  43. Don't think season tickets count...anyway more to the point why call it pairs when there are 3 riders!?
    1 point
  44. Suspect few will regard it as a flagship event. Rather another example of failing to provide value for money re season tickets. Even trying to stress their benign benevolence in that they have bot increased prices despite more races than normal
