I really didn’t see why the system was changed, under the old scoring every race counted and meant no one could take their foot of the gas. And it was fair to everyone. What exactly is the big deal that the winner needs to get the most points7 points
-
Watching youngsters trying so hard that they sometimes slide off is better than seeing the guys who tail off at the back and just ride around, or pull up. I'd never fault a lad who falls off trying......6 points

Scoring system needs to get back to where every ride counts towards your final score, you can fiddle around with the semi`s and final but this current system is next to useless.4 points

Another dreadful GP all down to the track AGAIN!!...Slightly more chance of passing that that utter embarrassment in Prague but the track was a disgrace!. Stuff this practice of sharing the GP's all around the World, this is supposed to be the pinnacle of a so called "professional" (sic) sport, yet so many rounds are ruined by disgraceful tracks. Give ALL the rounds to the best tracks, even if that means some tracks getting more than one round a year. This is supposed to be speedway RACING, not speedway "GATING" (last week) and speedway "HANGING ON FOR DEAR LIFE" (last night). Another embarrassing night for the sport.4 points

I always assumed it changed because Tai Woffinden kept saying he did not care about winning GPs whenever he missed out, that he just wanted to keep picking up championship points. Which surely must be embarrassing to the series, because he was just being smart within the system they created. That previous system rewarded consistently over winning meetings, especially when you could have a rider entering a final knowing they will get the most points out of the meeting towards the championship table even if they crash out. In all of Tai's titles, only Hancock in 2015 shared the podium with the same number of GP wins as him, the other riders all won more. So they had to make a change to make winning a meeting actually count for more in the season than just a ride for three more points. No one is saying riders will not battle for every point, but they should be disappointed when they fail rather than it not matter because they got the most points anyway. That system was like deciding the Premier League on goal scored rather than points for winning matches. My problem with the current system is it has gone from one extreme to the other. Now it ignores how well someone had gone in a meeting that you can miss the semis on count back yet still only get one point more than a rider who picked up three points fewer. But I do not know what is wrong with the older system of double points in the final. It pretty much meant the winner of the meeting would have the most points, and a six point difference between winning a GP and failing to make the final meant that winning mattered to the championship standings in the way they do now.3 points

Exactly. I seem to remember that I wasn't keen when they bought this scoring system in but I like it now. Position in a meeting still counts so they still need to race for every point, and the winner of the meeting gets most points. It does make sense.3 points

My lad asked me whether we were going, and I told him no as it was on TV... He said he knew it was on TV but that he would pay (), given he had done a fair amount of overtime... And said that Jason Doyle and Max Fricke would be good to watch against each other.. I then told him the line ups... He shook his head, laughed, and simply said "Why do they always run Speedway so f*****g s****e?".... 19 years old, and already so wise... #soproud...3 points

No. Race points are only used as the qualification criteria for the semis; championship points are awarded STRICTLY on finishing position. The guy who finished 3rd will ALWAYS get more than the guy who finished 4th, who will always get more than the guy who finished 5th. This is the problem, as people seem to intertwine and confuse the two. Race points aren't included in the championship standings. It doesn't matter that someone scored 15 points, and finished last in his semi; the 15 points just secured a spot in the semi - NOTHING ELSE. WHether he got a 15-point max, or scraped in with 6, it doesn't matter. If he finishes last in his semi, he will get the same points. It's no different to the old World Final system. Somebody could win the Overseas Finak with 15, and another could scrape in with 7. The important thing is that they qualified for the Inter-Continental Final, where they all start from scratch again. That's what the semis are now - it is "another round" where they all start from scratch. In what other forms of motorsport do they have no brakes? In what other forms of sport do they have 16-man round-robins?2 points

Ah but. I did buy an Aero at an aerodrome. It was one of those yard long jobs, as I remember.2 points

All speculation, you could say what would the score have been had Cookie not had bike issues in his first 3 rides , this is speculation of course. Who knows just enjoy the win instead of what if's.2 points

Personally I never liked the idea of the winner of the GP not getting the most points or that qualifying for a semi didn't gain anything if you finished 4th. I like the new system and it is more in line with the majority of motorsport. Dan Bewley has been brilliant imo, turns up, just gets on with it and is doing very well.2 points

Spoke to Jye who was watching from 3rd bend. I asked him when he was back he said next Saturday I said thank god or words to that effect2 points

My biggest pet peeve of the scoring system: Vaculik scores 5 = 6 GP points Doyle scores 5 = 4 GP points Holder scores 8 = 9 GP points Janowski scores 6 = 8 GP points Why is 5 worth 2 more points than 5, but 8 is only worth 1 more point than 6? Worst scoring system ever!2 points

Once again only 3 Home riders had a Heat win as opposed to the away Team had 5.says it all really.Injuries or not home riders should all be capable of a heat win.2 points

I think there’s a certain amount of anti-Cami baked in to some of these responses, which I do understand. But Hume had won two races. Yes, Broc looked good, but not so much better that it was clear cut, and with some of his struggles this season, he could have gone into heat 14, come last, and then Cami would get blasted for putting in the rider who’s struggled all year. Hume and Nicol were both good options for heat 14 on paper. The tie wasn’t lost in heat 14. Going into lap 4 of heat 15, it was still going to golden heats… you could point to Craig’s engine issues, or him going through the tapes in heat 1 last night, or Broc doing it in the same heat… or not putting Ulle in heat 15 yesterday. That was a much bigger mistake, for me. To be honest, it didn’t really feel like the Tigers won by 14 on the night. It felt much closer. Everyone made a contribution but it just wasn’t quite enough. 17 points from the guests for the Monarchs was a decent return. Also shout out to Dillon Ruml - 7 rides, 7 third places. Didn’t set the place on fire, but he did what he needed to.2 points

FYI When Poland issue their weekend schedules , the PZM always list consecutive Saturdays & Sundays, & do not confirm the actual race day until c. 2 - 3 weeks before the event. This I believe is linked to sponsorships & tv scheduling. Furthermore Saturday & Sundays are the priority days for Polish fixtures which all contracted riders are obliged to fulfil. If anyone had checked previous fixtures held at Tarnow this season, they've used Saturdays. Further feedback from Poland indicates that the stadium in Tarnow is unavailable for speedway this Sunday as it is being used for a local festival event. The Edinburgh Promotion should have been aware of how Polish fixtures are confirmed & should have not agreed to the weekend date until the PZM announced the official date. They should have informed Glasgow they would visit on either the Saturday or Sunday once the the PZM announced the official date. This would have been c. 2 weeks beforehand. What makes it more galling was that Glasgow had suggested it be moved from their normal off race day of Sunday to Saturday, due to a possible tv clash with Scotland playing Wales in the World Cup Qualifier in Cardiff, which never materialised! BTW as the home team was Tarnow, kindly explain how the visitors "Rawicz, changed there fixture from sunday, to saturday for unknown reasons"2 points

I agree with you, but Pedersen has had some big accidents this season. I hope he continues to race for as long as he enjoys it, I am a big fan of him.1 point

I trying to think of another sport where individuals score points which are then wiped out in favour of a different scheme.1 point

The scoring system is a mess at the moment, it's neither one thing or another. The top 4 get awarded points based on their finishing position in the GP (the final), the 2 losing semi finalists, well I'm not quite sure how they get awarded their points R&R will know and then the bottom 8 get their points awarded based on their race points... it's a right bugger's muddle! It's not comparable with other motor sports as their competitors race against all of their opponents in one continuous race... now there's an idea, a 70 lap Speedway race!1 point

I think pawlicki has reached the point Pedersen was at a few years ago, pedersen has matured a bit and although hard doesn’t seem desperate now pawlicki is desperate and dangerous1 point

I haven’t seen anything from the club moaning about fans not turning up, the crowd for the last match against Wolves was excellent.1 point

Is it really that crazy when the points reflect your finishing position in the event? At least this way, the winner gets the most points, the second-place man gets more than the third-place man, etc... That didn't always happen with the old system.1 point

I’ve been far from impressed with Broc this season but tonight he had already beaten Ruml 4/4 times - bizarre decision from Calamity but ultimately not surprising from the yes man.1 point

Leicester reserves paid 19pts ours paid 6 tells the story. Jye back next week apparently so hopefully pull back the 12pts deficit and keep this season going1 point

If I was casually watching and not a Speedway fan, then I would suggest I would definitely have kept watching given the unpredictable nature of virtually every race... For the purist maybe not a great advert.. For the non fan, maybe it has pricked interest? I personally enjoyed it given the huge challenges facing the riders....1 point

This tractor racing is becoming more tedious nearly everywhere, and it's really peeing people off now. At Peterborough last night, it only came out once all evening, and times and quality of racing, albeit mostly from Wolverhampton, were all in the 58.0+ bracket with the exception of Heats 12, 14 & 15 with the slowest being 59.1 which proves we don't need tractors every four races, if the weather is okay, and the track has been prepared properly in the first place. Interesting comment by Michael Palm Toft in the programme interview, when he says "My thoughts on the state of British Speedway is that there are some changes coming which I hope will improve it for all of us. I truly think to make changes to take a significant step forward would be to move from an amateur sport to a professional sport in Britain - that would really improve the sport here". Now I wonder what that's all about?????1 point

I've read the paramedics have been redirected to an accident last minute so others lives should take priority over a speedway meeting but would any other sport be delayed because of it Lots of things happening again this season and some things worse than others that really need to be addressed1 point
-
Nothing like Speedway to sh!t on its paying public and find delays acceptable, there really is no other sport like this Nothing against Scunthrope directly but the sport as a whole, but then I feel I say the same thing year on year, it needs a major shake up1 point

Certainly an entertainer. I was amazed that he turned up at Perry Barr every week in an Austin Allegro with a bike rack on the back! My mate wouldn't trust his to get us from Wolves to Brum on the M6 let alone making the journey from Czecho'. RIP1 point

I've always believed home 2nd strings should be capable of beating visiting heat leaders and equally reserves beating visiting 2nd strings. Surely that is what 'home advantage' is all about?1 point
