  1. Are you really surprised? The way forward apparently is just say nothing about anything at all! No comment about the performance on Sunday No comment about progress with team changes No injury update on Paul or Matty No thank you to the fans for still paying their money to watch two consecutive home drubbings. Just stay silent and put out a few adverts for the Poole match and that will suffice.

  2. Killing team sport using my home town wolves as an example Sam masters rides for Edinburgh .Nick morris rides for Leicester. Ryan Douglas rides for Scunthorpe Steve Worral rides for Poole. Drew kemp rides for Poole .leon flint rides for Berwick, only Luke Becker rides only for wolves, right there is why team speedway has died in Britain, how is anyone new to the sport supposed to follow their club when it’s just a glorified swingers club, speedway has many other issues as why it is dying but as far as team speedway goes this has killed the team concept

  3. BSN stream is excellent, it’s just a shame the track is utter Shyte with virtually no passing at all. Absolutely no encouragement to attend Foxhall next week and watch gate and go speedway the ref is clearly blind as well if he thought Hans fell entirely in his own

  4. Wells along with a number of riders at Championship level do just enough for their current clubs to continue in the team while making sure their average is attractive enough to other clubs who are looking for riders for the following season should they find themselves without a club.

  8. The main reason we have a shortage of U.K. riders is because none are coming from the Grasstracks. Grasstrack is now less than 10% of what it was 20+ years ago when most of the top riders were tempted to have a go @ Speedway! P.S. The old style second half with junior races allowed "wan-a-be-stars" to show their talents.

  9. I wasn’t a huge fan of it when they brought it in for 2020 as covid guests - but it was soon abused and not used as intended. They did recognise that and changed it for last season although was never actually needed from memory. I hate the guest rule full stop. It’s my biggest pet hate of British Speedway. I would much rather see a weakened side retain their identity than borrowing riders and then winning matches. Injuries are part of speedway unfortunately and Polish teams have large squads including their U24 teams to pick riders from.

  18. As of now Basso is 4.00 for another 4 days i believe. So if you were quick you have 1.64 points on top of any or your riders average riders average to bring you to 39.00 that you can go to. For a one rider change because i'd do that if i had the time as your second rider wont be much better than what you have. So for Ully on 6.62 you could fit a rider on 8.06, as a single change. Hans 6.64 ......... 8.04, and Scotty 6.23 ...... 7.87 .. The best of the 2 riders i was told finished his last British season on a knats cock over Scott + the 1.64. So if my maths and info are correct, and your quick, you could have 1 decent change Once Bens first GSA comes into effect it will need 2 to get riders out to fit him in.

  22. Through the eyes of A 11yr old. A couple of weeks ago for the first time in a long time I went to Sheffield to watch them v Wolverhampton and with me came my 11 yr old grandson for his first meeting. He loved the racing, the speed and the smell and loved being able to look into the pits to see the bikes being worked on between races. At the end of the meeting the crowd started leaving and he looked at me and said "is that it" ? and apart from a rider doing a few practice laps it was, but he left happy after watching the riders loading up there bikes and getting a closer look at them and we went home happy with his programme and speedway star. Last week I said to him "want to go to speedway on Thursday" ? And he asked who were they riding against, when I said Wolverhampton again he replied "but we saw them last time". Maybe he will be more willing when they ride against Ipswich for the next home meeting. On a side note he understands a rider riding in both league's but he thinks it silly that rider can ride for different teams in the same league. As I said at the beginning speedway through the eyes of a 11yr old. (the future fan base)

  26. Not if the change is made in these days before his achieved average becomes effective Another anomaly is the basket case regulations. Boro could redeclare up to the limit and the next day be legitimately 0.85 over it the next day without anyone turning a wheel.....

  27. To be fair... After a slow start to the guesting game (for him), Scott has now started to come to the party.... Maybe the TV work has got in the way a bit "early doors"? Hopefully he can now make up for a bit of lost time.. Maybe now Scott is back in the guesting saddle it will encourage more riders to join in which can only add variety, as we dont see enough of some of these riders sometimes... Some of which seem quite happy it would appear to ride for no more than just a paltry six or seven teams all year... It does make a bit of a mockery of the sport when only a few riders guest, so its important that the likes of Scott start to contribute more to this wonderfully derived system... After all. It helps makes UK Speedway what it is...

  28. Ok meeting I suppose, decent close racing early on but became processional. Of the three Gladiators exclusions the only one I'm convinced was the correct decision was the second, Pearson got to the first turn ahead & clamped Morley. Morley took a nasty tumble locking up hard. The other two I didn't have a great view of... instinct would suggest Andersen deserved to go, Bowtell didn't. Thanks to Josh Pickering for making the meeting a contest. Why you wanted to go off gate 2 in heat 15 I do not know! Question is did he pass Nicholls in heat 13 before Nicholls bike packed up? The only Brummie that can be satisfied with that performance is Neilsen. Ok bet he feels rough! two falls & a push for a point Shanes & Morris were down on their modus operandi of 2021, Sedgeman was poor - gated once, had 4 laps to pass a visiting reserve but never looked likely to do so. Wells was anonymous. Pearson gave a point away in heat 2 but can't expect much more. Barker clearly knows the quickest way around PB still. Andersen scored more than he probably deserved. Nicholls was good value, expect more from MPT. Bowtell & Morley did enough, Coles wasn't too far off the pace but never looked like scoring. I won't be coming again.until I don't have to drive to Wednesbury to get on.the M6!

  29. If you lose your home team, the team you feel most passionate about, of course your love for the sport wanes, only to be expected. Grading, I've always thought of this as making the track fair (not at Eastbourne and maybe Ipswich lol) and safe for the riders who I want to be able to give 100% every race, it's NEVER bothered me and it gives us time to talk about the race coming up, the race just gone, speedway in general or perhaps just life. Sorry if you've lost your passion for the sport, so glad I haven't

  31. Personally I wouldn't have any sympathy for clubs paying out such sums, plus also getting low crowds when 'cannon fodder' visits.... As it was 'bleeding obvious' from the outset what would happen given the imbalance in the team strengths from top to bottom in Div 2.. Yet. They ploughed on regardless... The Haves and The Have Nots.... A quite amazing plan of action which has reached its inevitable only conclusion..... And would have been even worse if some clubs hadn't got No1 riders injured meaning they would have had to run without guests which have often strengthened them... Must be a better way of running things surely? With no promotion or relegation, nor any major prize on offer, you would think that the No1 objective would be to ensure that every team, and therefore every meeting, would be competitive wouldn't you? Allowing such disparate levels of capability ultimately does no business's any good.. And they all need each other....

  32. Well, maybe they're still looking for 'press officer',,, or is it a case of everyone needing to be spoon fed, is it too hard to work things out yourself? It'll all come out in the wash, some folk are so demanding these days.

  34. Hopefully he gets what needs changing changed and can do better in his next fixture. You wonder if it would do Leon better if he made himself available for the Polish Under-24 league, he has flirted with Poland with ROW Rybnik in the past.

  35. I think you will find Ellis is blameless. Offered a 28 day contract which he honoured plus some. His schedule doesn’t allow for championship once all his other leagues start. he got you out of a muddle in my opinion. It was the promotion who were economical with the truth that caused the fuss.

  37. Yes, but that's not the equivalent of banning Russian individuals from competing for club sides in domestic leagues outside of Russia. As far as I know Russians are still free to play for clubs in other domestic football leagues in Europe, Russians are still free to play in the NHL, etc.

  38. Firstly well done to the track staff as it had been a Hot day and there was little or no dust to contend with, secondly I enjoyed the meeting with some good racing mainly provided by Josh Pickering who was undoubtebly man of the meeting, I guess there are two thoughts to the result in that did Birmingham win it or Plymouth lose it ?, IMO and its only my opinion Plymouth lost it and here why I think that; Ht 4 Morley given as fell when it should have been all 4 back and Morley was good for a point in that race, Ht 13 Nicholls Ef when good for at least a point in that race thats my reasoning in my opinion, now the riders, I have to admit to being disappointed with the performance of Alfie Bowtell and Palm Toft, Ben Morley had whats best described as an up and down meeting, Scott was always in the mix of things, and Ben Barker couldnt really have done much more, Hans Andersson was steady, For the Brummies, As Iv already said Josh Pickering was man of the meeting, Ricky Wells aint a No1 whoever he rides for, Stefan rode well for his 8 points, and Sedgy was poor and seems to be a gating tart, James Shanes scored half decent but nowt more than he should have, Ashley scored half a dozen but hasnt really kicked on over the past few seasons. The crowd I would estimate as around 600 or 700 if Im being generous this on a lovely summers evening made up of aprox 250/300 in the upstairs bar and the remainder outside and downstairs, I and my better half availed myself of the offer to Cradley/Coventry fans but we simply couldnt justify 2 of us paying full price for a nights Speedway especially as she isnt really interested but came along as we had been in Town earlier and agreed I would go with her if she would come with me, so I guess £20 for the 2 of us, which from Brums perspective this Is better than full price for 1. Junction 7 being closed on the way home was a pain in the backside which meant going on to Walsall to get back to Cradley Heath (as if Petrol aint expensive enough) had I have known I would have gone the alternative route past the Baggies ground. Let me explain why 2 of us paying full price cant be justified by us, The wife wanted to eat at a particular restaurant in Town (Brum) drove to the Hawthorns Tram and parked up, return Tram fare for 2 = £8-20, Food for 2 = £26-00 (included 10% discount for cash), entrance to Speedway x 2 = £20-00 plus 2 x J20,s and whatever fuel we used getting there and back so all in all thats about £60 ish which is fair enough for an evening out, but if we paid full price for the Speedway that would have pushed it up to around £80 which some might say is fine but thats our weeks budget for entertainment so it comes down to personal choice, and when the footy season starts that usually gets the budget.

  39. Well, as so many people claim "there are no riders available" -- fans of Berwick, Oxford and Birmingham need not react, their clubs have proved there are -- when I see the great Benny J still doing what he does best (nul points!) for Vargana this week, maybe some of the clubs who need riders should check him out? Can't agree he's "instantly forgettable" by the way. No-one at Shielfield will ever forget Benny!

  46. The number of guests used in the Championship is becoming a farce. They are supposed to be used to cover genuine (yeah, I know not really a word associated with the sport) injuries/absences. The likes of Newcastle and Brum continue to use guests for riders they signed that will never be seen again and almost every guest used makes them stronger due replaced riders on inflated averages that would only fall if they raced. These two teams are therefore stronger than they would be, which means they are not quite as crap as they would otherwise be. Whilst we all want these teams in the sport, this approach is unsustainable and the governing body should intervene. In contrast, Plymouth are milking the system a treat. They have three decent standard heat leaders but are still able to use guests for a number one (on the way down) who is as likely to show up again as Lord Lucan. Don’t know if this has been suggested before, but is it not reasonable to restrict a rider to a certain number of guest appearances per season? A maximum of 5 maybe?

  47. I'm sure Olsen was the same one year? Plus riders were seeded to different stages of their own qualifying rounds too... It annoys me when I hear people complain about the top guys being "seeded" these days. They are NOT seeded. They have to qualify by competing against the world's top riders for a whole GP season the previous year.

  48. Guess Henry realised his actions had as much impact on the result as those that donned their Kevlar’s and rode! Classless act going on the parade lap. Stayed behind to applaud the Chargers as I thought they rode well. Would hate to think Henry thought my applause included him.

  49. You may not have much choice! Plus with one of the Thompson twins always going to be at reserve and the top 5 Leicester have only needs to get 3/4 points a meeting imo.
