I think speedway will only survive in the U.K. if we can build new tracks. They will be out of the way and capable of accommodating the modern speedway bike that is now too fast for some of our historical tracks. Sadly the south of England is now a waste land to the sport with land values encouraging more developers into building more and more housing.

The guy is an absolute class act, love watching him and it'll be a sad day when he packs it in.

Yes but one thing that you both don`t understand is that the Poles don`t view matches as pointless- the fans just want to see their team their team and hopefully win, but will support them irrespective. Right folks, I've just come home from Leicester and if you intend going to Peterborough tomorrow, be warned. June 27 for 13-nights the A 47 is closed from Guyhirn through to the dual carriageway from 8pm onwards. So you will need to come home on the Snail Trail through Whittlesey. Then when you get back to the pullover roundabout at Lynn, I don't have a clue what's going on between there and the Hardwick, but it looks a bloody mess, with loads of speed cameras. I know it was closed on Friday at 9pm when I passed so am assuming that it still the case.

Yeah it is, he has a bad one at Poole somewhere between 1988-1992 where he hit the 1st bend fence head on and went straight over and hit the dog track, he clipped someone's back wheels entering turn 1, I need to find it on DVD really

Keyboard warrior pmsl, I like to think paying customer.If I jumped on the keyboard as soon as it wasn't going as I hoped how come I didn't post after Edinburgh,Birmingham,and Scunthorpe where we should of won ?and Poole at home. Check my previous posts and see if I have been critical of Redcar . Just because I don't agree with your rose tinted glasses opinion of "Roynon would only need to score his previous average and the club would be fine "A case of would of could of should of ?" So last year he averaged 5.20 this year he's averaging 2.50 that's acceptable and we shouldn't try to make improvements.I will turn up every week like I did in the Brian Havelock wooden spoon era,Unlike some of the fans as once the football season starts if theirs nothing to race for the crowd will drop.

That was as enjoyable as any GP this year. My take on Ellis was that his best engine went pop before he got off the line in his first race and he lacked speed thereafter. He was no worse than Milik & Lebedevs and will hopefully have a better round next time.

I do love watching Kolodziej.. Would be great to watch around the NSS.. As long as he doesnt gate.... You dont ride as one of the top riders in Poland for so long without being a genuine top level talent..

Speedway at Birmingham Wheels was unsuccessful during the three seasons of its operations there. There were many reasons for this, most of them being out of the control of Birmingham Speedway. The place was in its complete infancy, getting there was difficult and not very safe with no entrance via the main Bordesley Green Road, only via a dark and dismal lengthy back street (Landor Street) and approached through an unlit railway tunnel. The spectator facilities there were non-existant and what little spectator comforts were minimal. Sharing the track with banger cars was a disaster. This is possible at some existing stadia I know, but at the Wheels Park, the banger cars used it daily so preparation of the track for speedway meetings was virtually impossible. Even so, despite the problems, the track was a very good shape and before the cars wrecked it, produced some very good racing, and for all it's primitiveness, spectator viewing was very good. The speedway venture ended when at the instigation of the new Wheels Park Manager, an application to extend planning permission to beyond those first three seasons, was arbitrarily withdrawn, so Tony Mole who had just purchased the speedway rights, wasn't able to continue even though he was prepared to do so. Later attempts to get back into the Wheels Park using a different, unused part of the site to constructed a new exclusive for speedway track, were blocked by the same Wheels Park Manager. Could speedway have re-established itself there? I think it could have. We could have had our own track and used it for training as well as public meetings, and now that there is the access to the site from the main road, we could have capitalised on the fact that it is now on several bus routes, and that Adderley Park Rail Station is close by. The Wheels Park is still located in one of the less glamourous parts of the City it is true, so it might have been a long slow haul to get the club back on it's feet, but I always thought the place had possibilities. Now it seems that the City Council are looking for ways of recovering some of the massive debts it has run up in its efforts to promote the Commonwealth Games, and are trying to reclaim and re-sell the land on which the Wheels Park is situated. All the hard work which has gone into building a popular and well used operation from very small beginnings, will be wasted if they succeed, and I wish the group who are challenging this truly outrageous plan, every possible success in their opposition, and will be happy to help in any way if I can.

One of the problems with modern speedway (for me, anyway) is that it has become too "clean". I know H&S has played a part, but there's more to it than that. Yes, machinery dictates the track surfaces, but I miss the deep dirt on the tracks, with he-men struggling to control bucking broncos. I miss getting covered - or trying to avoid getting covered - in shale. I miss bags of sawdust being dumped on the bends. We never knew what a poxy "blue groove" was. That was all part of the show for me, like riders doing the parade without helmets, rakers, being pushed off on the track, tractor rides, bike racks etc... I loved the fact that it was a lot simpler and more basic back then.

I just caught up with the meeting, I enjoyed it, Bomber was amazing and Leon Flint done a lot more than I expected. Young Knudsen has a great riding style and I am sure he will be a star in the future. shame to see Nathan Ablett struggling, I think he will come good but there will always be pressure from fans to make changes. Hope Poole will give him more time, they are a very good side and can absorb carrying the odd rider.

News on the Wroclaw site this morning We have some good news. Daniel Bewley underwent a comprehensive examinations at the University Clinical Hospital in Wroclaw and apart from general collisions, he was only diagnosed with an injury of the interanklular left tibiscus. It would appear that Dan's physical fitness and well-functioning stadium security and personal protective equipment prevented him from serious injury. Dan hang in there!!!

That's a bit harsh really, if it was a pure buisness decision then they wouldn't want speedway at the venue. It costs money with staff etc and they would be happy just running cars that they make money out of without the aggravation of running speedway. They are very supportive and the rent is realistic and a lot lower than most clubs, they are happy for us to run the sport at the stadium and thats a big positive..

Saw Brennan at Leicester having pictures taken with fans. Seems have a very good attitude to the paying public. I hope he has a very successful career.

Really,you only need an A4 sheet with the scorecard on one side,and fixtures and announcements on the other,given free with your admission,or 50p to cover the printing..Everything else you should be able to find on your clubs website.
