Seems only to be a rumour at this stage and personally I hope it stays as that, just a rumour. Very poor signing if it turns out to be true, I think we have all seen Schlein`s attitude towards a track that is not to his liking so if he does want to make a track return I hope its with another team and the very best of luck to him and them.4 points

Seems a bad idea for me for Schlein to make a comeback , the guy has had some awful injuries in the past , still it’s his life and decision. Maybe its it’s just the close season rumour mill working overtime.3 points

Another thread where the Poole fans can't help turning it into their own thread. Scheiln to Berwick does seem a weird signing if true though. Not really his kind of track is it?3 points

Who would we drop for Chris Holder Poole icon he is but Matt always builds top teams and if he thinks that's the way to go then who could argue but I don't think it's likely but what do I know as for an earlier post about Matt flashing the cash I don't think he does Poole is a speedway town always has been and I suppose like say if Manchester United come calling footballers find it hard to say no and I should think its the same in our sport if Poole/Matt calls you to race at Wimborne Road ( paid on time and good chance to win trophies ) you would say yes.We are lucky as Poole is a holiday resort so always get good crowds so Matt may have a bit extra to invest in riders but from what I have seen on here the Glasgow promotion have all the money and try as they may have not found the best 7 to win the league yet so money doesn't guarantee success what you need is a good knowledge in speedway and a few contacts in Australia and a big house for your riders to live in while the season is on.3 points

You have to remember he rode for our nearest local rivals, Coventry, for 11 years. He took us to the cleaners on many, many occasions. He, along with Scott Nicholls, was virtually an ever present in all our open meetings as a track specialist. With our top 2 riders in hospital we only needed an average performance. We didn't even get that.2 points

Wonder if going to limit how long can run with guests. Reading between lines sounds like maybe some rule changes the facility2 points

Maybe Chris holder can ride for Poole in the jubilee trophy or as it will be known as the inter league challenge or what ever they will call it next season. Lol2 points

Not sure that would end with a positive outcome for speedway. It always seems to be left to the fans to co-ordinate these things.2 points

Do we really want to set up a track just for one rider, don`t Berwick realise that when we have slick conditions and turn a meeting a gating competition Berwick normally are on the wrong end of a hammering. I for one don't want to turn up every Saturday night to watch very little if any proper racing just because our No1 would spit his dummy if he doesn't get his own way.2 points

Glad this post has come from someone a fair few miles from Poole. Nobody from this neighborhood would ever have thought of let alone done this. .2 points

I used to find Speedway quite a good 2nd half attraction when going to watch the Speedway2 points

With it being a 32 meeting season, could bring him in do a bit of average manipulation for 5/6 meetings, scrape some home wins get a few doings away, get him down to 8.00, 8.5 there you have 3 points to play with come May. Only need to make play offs not win the league. Be good to see Noddy back in British speedway2 points

Can’t see it happening unless he is re-assessed. Why would you want an 11point rider when you have a 8 point rider who can win most races,to justify his inclusion he would have to win all his races and he would not do that. He has always struggled at tight technical tracks too. If we were to go up to the Premiership then that would be. different.2 points

The Polish interview( see Sportowefakty) was rather more probing including one question- when are you going to sack Ole Olsen !!!2 points

I agree Trees, but John Prescott single handedly closed Cradley Speedway for good. Even after the council refused houses several times. It shouldn't be allowed as these ministers aren't voted in by local people who are impacted by their decisions. It's a disgrace.2 points

Was a successful franchise in the early 80's playing in Aston. Suffered increasingly with financial issues and closed some years ago. May be being revived at some point but have fallen way behind the bigger franchises now. Will always be a small niche minority Sport in UK like Ice Hockey, very popular is small pockets only. Thankfully Rounders (which the Yanks call Baseball) has never taken off here.2 points

Well, exactly...no-one at Starry Speedway has said that the first rider will be on a season-long contract, have they? It could be another of those "until the Swedish season starts" kind of contracts. It might even feature a guarantee that in the event of sustaining a season ending injury, the team won't be redeclared with a replacement rider, so that they don't have to feel lonely and like they've been thrown onto the scrap heap.1 point

I can remember the days when riders averages were a reasonably easy thing to work out.1 point

Think it will be James Pearson, please not Shane's or Morris, at least with Pearson he may improve, Shanes and Morris get worse by the day1 point

Bit touchy aren’t we ? I simply asked where the riders were to come from ? Grass track is in just as bad a state as speedway, very few meetings , even less youngsters on proper slide type machinery. You are actually right in that we don’t do enough to encourage people into taking up the sport but that’s a vicious circle, they see the state speedway is in and don’t give it a second thought., but it’s not me you want to be having a go at, try the BSPL!1 point

Good point Mr. churchhill...At Derwent Park the Comets ( i.e.the second phase promoters from 1999 - 2018) were not allowed to hold Sunday afternoon meetings. Therefore, as an alternative to the regular Saturday nights, Sunday nights were used - on rare occasions. Obviously such meetings being held when Town were playing away...Haven would have no effect on speedway crowds though. I believe the Sunday afternoon 'block' was made by the church behind the scoreboard end, that was bends 1 and 2 of course. However, given that the new track is several hundreds of metres away from said church, perhaps the Sunday afternoon' block' will not apply.....personally hope so. But again, as you point out, any clash with Town would be foolish......I'm a Town fan too and wouldn't like such a fixture tangle.1 point

At this point in previous seasons the Brummies Facebook Page would have run about half a dozen videos featuring James Shanes...and a couple featuring Ashley Morris. Indeed, the Brummies Facebook page gave James Shanes more exposure than Fox News gave to Donald Trump. That hasn't happened this year. Is their absence a hint of a fresh broom sweeping clean?1 point

Absolutely. Lots of people get a lot of enjoyment out of guessing line ups and speculating. Perhaps a bah humbug thread should be started for those who don't enjoy it1 point

I believe he finished the Holdergate season on 7.16 in the Prem. I know you x it by 1.5 for the Champ, but how low do you want his average to go1 point

I had a friend who raced go karts on a specially designed circuit and I was soon bored with it...their centre of gravity is so low and the steering so acute they just hugged the racing line. Cowley had a go kart circuit on the centre green and I watched it a couple of times and felt underwhelmed.1 point

Sounds very promising! I guess when it went in 2018, no one would of predicted us even talking about a return, remarkable. Just my thoughts of course, but Speedway, especially for this new venture, should be ran in the summer/warmer months, unlike the shambles that descended the '22 Championship season. That leaves us with something like this... (in an ideal world, that doesn't exist) 17 Weekends, Running May to End of August; 9 Home League meetings (KL possibly joining) 1 Home KO Meeting Individual Meeting 3 more Sundays...? NDLRC or Pairs? British youth championship round Under 19 final / Under 21 Semi final? Means 14/17 weekends running speedway, giving room for rain offs etc. However of course, rider availabilty will always be a problem at this level, more so the opposition! Then run into September if team progresses in League playoffs / KO Final etc.1 point

"We did consider moving to Calcot but unfortunately Terry and Clark had to stop to relieve themselves during the journey, and consequently the drive took 47 minutes, so outside of our requirements. We keep trying. We're doing all we can."1 point

Passing was at a premium I remember but they were noisy and spectacular but personally I wouldn't watch a meeting that was just sidecars...as a Second Half attraction they held some interest.1 point

That is most definitely correct and I don’t see how Brandon estates get around the loss of the stadium argument. of course they can just sit on it for another decade. hopefully they will get hammered in the courts next week.1 point

Still much work, support and financial backing required I would think before the start of the season , hopefully local businesses and fans can really get behind the project and make a success of this new venture,1 point
