Because they know all the usual idiots will be waiting for some kind of statement to criticise so they gave them one3 points

Nooo. Still I suppose the race between Batch and KK to see who gives up first would be funny3 points

And, then of course was the Californian Poppies, who rode at California in England, (sometimes called Little California) near Wokingham, Berkshire. They closed before I became a speedway fan, although I did see speedway there in my pre-teenage years. I cycled from my home in Whitley Wood, near the now defunct Smallmead Stadium, to the fair etc. that was there at the time but saw a few heats before it was time to head home with my brothers. It was to be at least another decade before I attended another meeting- staying for the whole meeting this time-with a couple of fellow Reading FC fans who I had became friendly with, who were also speedway fans. We often managed to attend an away footie match and then go to a local speedway track, but mostly attended the Racers meetings and also the Wimbledon Dons, which my wife still thinks of "her team".2 points

Presumably it will be one of those injuries that only prevents him riding Monday and Thursday.2 points

An interesting suggestion. The sport is probably too long in the tooth for such a radical change though. Promoters aren’t going to want to pay last place money either when cost cutting is what makes the world go round at present.2 points

Seems pretty common knowledge in the stockcar world that Buster has sold both Lynn and Peterborough.2 points

The big news appears to be that Michael Tomalin will be/is the new owner of the panthers. Considering he has his business on the showground already, I'd imagine both will staying together one way or another2 points

The Averages are prepared (with Newcastle results removed) and will be published after being ratified at the AGM, as is the normal procedure.2 points

An often mentioned dislike of many speedway fans is riders who give up when in 4th place in a race. I think a simple way of stopping such things would be to change the scoring system to 4,3,2,1 for the finishers in a race with any rider who does not finish getting 0 and no pay for the race. I think that would ensure it was very rare for a rider failed to finish.1 point

The same "idiots" that everyone will be expecting to put their hand in the pocket to watch meetings next season. Great stuff.1 point

Dont think it will be the stadium as he makes good money from the stocks, will get rent from Speedway . Got to say hes done very well if hes sold both promotions with the current cost of living crisis, maybe took a bit less than he wanted but lucky to find two people willing to buy them both1 point

Not the attitude to take in a dangerous sport such as Speedway. More likely to get hurt or hurt someone else if you’re half-assing it.1 point

Each Promoter wants to calculate his own Teams average with their interpretation “in the best interest of the sport”!!1 point

Oo, I think we can get a bit more imaginative. How about puce and lilac with highlights? Maureen's on standby, ready to make a whole new batch1 point

Overreacting to end of season play off fiasco. Season will start in June and end in July. PL adamant they can pull top stars. League will be run as a Pairs Competition with a Rising Star reserve. Only in Speedway1 point

Must have been who he meant as there is no one else with a Berwick connection who would be a Poole No1. Just him or Rory. So back to keeping 2 out of the 3 HLs from this season then? Unless anyone else has any other rumours?1 point

And still young ability is definitely there hopefully he can push on this year can see him at Edinburgh this year usually goes well there1 point

Got to agree, showed his true colours taking the lead role in the rain off nonsense last year. No thanks.1 point

Depends on how much coffee they drink lol. Joking aside everything has been sorted and they just need to sign off on things according to Danny Ford so no reason why we shouldn't get a statement today or tomorrow.1 point

There are plenty of fans that don't bother with forums such as this and so an announcement in the media (Echo, Solent, tv, facebook etc) is much better.1 point

Not even sure he’d be a 7 pointer he’s definitely had his day . Sure I saw on Twitter Brady was off to Denmark then on to Australia speedway related or just a holiday? If it is speedway related glad Brady gone rather than a hopeless Alitt1 point

Tonight Premiering at 7pm, the Plymouth 'Centurions' take on the Belle Vue 'Colts' in their National League encounter held at the Coliseum back in April. Brought to you by Gladiators TV.1 point

However, football, rugby and cricket are quiet sports, much of the noise comes from the crowd, which could happen with 'quiet' speedway. With motorised speedway, you can hardly hear the crowd. In addition, one of the attractions of 'yesteryear' was the whiff of the burning of castor oil in the air. That has virtually disappeared, due to the use of synthetic oils, which the guys use, apparently, to reduce expensive wear to engines.1 point

Basso had a very good season, but it was riding in a second string position, he maybe had one or two matches at 1 or 5. He's an improving rider so I'd have no fear about him stepping up again this year even racing at number 1. Also teams don't actually need to have a "genuine top man" to win the league, 7 good riders could do it also!1 point

Interesting as Berlin are also claiming to be staging this meeting as a one off on March 4!1 point

I’m now half way through it and I’d highly recommend it to anybody…a superb effort1 point

Zach has said he doesn't fancy riding the Plymouth track week in week out, he feels more comfortable riding the cycle speedway track at Baiter Park in Poole1 point

Buoyed by the good news regarding the failed planning proposal there was a great turn-out at the NSSC last night to see ex-Bee Martin Smolinski. Very interesting talk about his recovery from the severe hip injuries and his future plans. He also pledged to compete in the Brandon re-opening meeting for no payment! The Save Coventry Stadium committee were roundly applauded for their efforts and vowed to challenge any potential appeal from Brandon Estates with as much vigour as they had in opposing the previous attempts to build housing on the land. Nice emotional speech from Tony Gillias too.1 point
