Clutching at straws there Phil,any RS who has competed in the Prem previously ( in a certain number of meetings)should therefore be judged on his Premiership average, and presumably that's what was agreed at the AGM.

I think a lot of it must be tongue in cheek. Apparently our number 1 got injured at the start of the season and hence our downfall. No mention of him getting a real injury almost 2 years ago in the GP qualifier at Glasgow. We signed him injured full stop. Agree about us missing Weathers, but no mention of how many team managers we went through, or the number of times Grant overturned Steve's decisions. All gone now and the least missed person will be Grant.

It’s far from a surprise when you look at the bigger picture, Berwick are an incredibly well run club and the Courtney’s and Gary Flint are highly respected operators. We don’t know Rory’s other plans but clearly a Saturday track is something that works for him. There is also a big youth system at Berwick and their training track at Duns, and Rory clearly has history working with the British youth system.

That’s a pretty rubbish Berwick team. I was watching Rory at the press conference last season when he had “finished”. Everyone was,patting him on the back and saying to him to enjoy his retirement , but his body language and facial expressions gave off a completely different vibe. I always thought it was a couple of seasons too early and clearly it was. He has sat at home in Aus brooding and missing the racing. Riders are a long time retired. Clearly Rory thinks he still has enough in the tank to continue and so he is back next season. Surprised? Not in the slightest. Berwick though? A strange choice but if they have made him a decent offer, why not?

I believe that any deal with Ace had to involve Theo getting a team place as well.

Feel for Bandits. Played big part in Ace’s development last season.

Right here we go. Team sorted. Promotion done what a lot of clubs haven’t or cannot. Team picked to ride next year. Season tickets on sale before Xmas and merchandise being sorted well in advance of the season starting. But of course the moaners are straight out. I for one am happy . Well done the promotion. Love being the underdog. Berwick always have been but would you want it any other way. Instead of bumping the guns get of yer jinka on a Saturday night and cheer on the boys. Rant over . I'm not a fan of race suits, as it makes it harder to tell who the riders are. Also seems an unnecessary expense of clubs have to produce 7+ new race suits every season. Although if fans pay for them to keep after the season, that would make financial sense to clubs!

Excellent read this week - Godfrey's interview enlightening. Agree fully with him (and have posted on here) that I agree semi pro riders must be the way forward in a sport in the UK that cannot support so many full time riders. My star is delivered by courier - every Thursday at 5 or 6 am ! No wrapper just the magazine pushed through the letter box. How the Royal Mail is still allowed to keep the "Royal" title escapes me ... if it was the King would surely be rounding up the Union leaders and throwing them in the Tower for the Treasonable offence of interfering with His Majesty's mail.

Dan Thomson to Poole makes complete sense for all parties involved. He's only 18 and had the amazing night at Poole a while back scoring 12 I think? He's only getting better and from a lions fan poole is a great place for him to develop!

Another excellent read this week.. Part 1 of an interview with David Gordon being particularly enlightening... He mentions the Sky money and how it varied from £1m to £1.5m a year in total, and basically paid for "highly priced GP riders to race in the Elite League" which left no money over for investment in the sport.. A good interview with Rob Godfrey too, which details some of the background work being done re saving tracks and reducing costs... An excellent publication once again....

The Jubilee/Pre Season challenge Poole vs Leicester was agreed while trying to sort the play offs out earlier this month. Lawson has been signed for Leicester for a number of weeks so makes sense for him to ride for his new club. It was Danny Ford who said that they would use Jack,Brady and Chris to balance the teams out so Leicester can ride with their full 1-7. Poole have been looking at DT as replacement for Kemp but not sure if they are going with that option or not as it did depend on the top end of the Pirates team but was a way to keep Zach Cook at reserve

From what I understand he's staying 250 next year with the intention of transition as the year goes on . late birthdays always make it a difficult decision for parents as whether to move up and get an average or wait till the following year. If he commits to international 250cc as well could be September before he is available.

With the track still in place , wonder whether we might see Lakeside return to th Premier League in 2023. Lots of speculation from other defunct clubs returning to the Premier League. We could have Lawson Ellis and Morley for starters — I am sure all the old track equipment will still be in the rusting portakabin next to a pile of old shale at the back of the riders car park.

Cant see Schlein fitting in anywhere in the prem unless a team gets desperate finding riders just purely on his average

Just look at what happened up the road ( Edinburgh ) thought they had a brand new exclusive venue for the team & along came ( bob or is it jock the builder ) and offered more lolly so that project was chucked on the scrapheap so I doubt very much speedway will return to our area nowadays which is a massive shame

All riders I've heard of, but interesting to get the point of view from someone who a lot more involved in youth racing than me, who the up and comers are. William Cairns is going to be one hell of a rider if he continues to progress, absolutely flies around scunthorpe and he's what, 13? 14?. But please for the love of God someone teach him how to queue

Disappointed to see quite a few comments along the lines of "if Ipswich have Hume at reserve alongside a RS, they'll get the wooden spoon" 1) surely with a bigger reduction 4.09 down to 3.07, Hume would be a good signing? 2) shame about the lack of "backing the Brits" 3) surely Hume / Brennan / Mountain moving up is what's best for British Speedway? Riders can't stay "rising stars" forever, so I'm hopeful all 3 will get team spots!

You 100% agree you would have kept Worrall and Lawson,and yet in your best team you could come up with you didn't involve any of those.
