Yes it's early days and nowt is won in April/May however this Birmingham team as it stands will not win anything, Yes they have a good No1 but his high average was built on being very very good around his former home Track at Leicester, take away that home track average and it is/was obvious to most people his average would drop, but that high average limits the remaining team building possibilities, that is the start of where the team building has imo gone wrong, yes it was also thought that this would be a strong team at home and that they could get the odd away point. I will say again, I have a lot of time for Laurence Rogers and he spends many hours doing good things within Speedway, but a good team manager he is NOT, whoever makes the decisions at Birmingham Speedway should be on the phone to Alun Rossiter and do whatever it takes to get him in as Team Manager at Birmingham, because take it from me Birmingham people will not spend their hard earned money on watching this team as it presently stands. I'm sorry if this sounds harsh, but something needs to be done otherwise I can see the West Midlands being without Speedway in the not to distant future.

A good sized crowd can look small there as it has a high capacity and the back straight stand holds quite a few. Probably still around 2-2.5k there.

Omg,,, a Panthers past meeting popped up on my you tube earlier,,,, it was good Friday 22 4 11,, v Coventry,,,, it was absolutely brilliant,,,, it reminded me just how good the showground track used to be before it got bustered. If you don't remember it or wasn't around to see it back then,,, I urge you to check it out,,, absolutely brilliant meeting.

I don't recall ever seeing a dust bowl at Foxhall. A sunny/clear afternoon contributes to a lack of grip, so the track will become slicker. Difficult balancing act, both on track prep/maintenance and the expectation of a potentially even larger attendance tempted by the sunshine.

Yup TB1 agree 1005. In fact afternoon speedway lacks the atmosphere of evening speedway IMO. If its a sunny day , all todays track " material" just doesn't hold enough moisture to prevent a dustbowl.

No need to buy Poole stadium. Just lobby the council to transfer the lease away from GI who are currently not meeting the terms of the lease agreement. The Poole promotion have enough support and experience with their sponsors etc to run the stadium and introduce other activities to it.

Brady Kurtz rides tomorrow in Poland and not at Leicester for Belle Vue.. The UK give up Thursday as a protected race night.... The UK is already very much a 2nd rate nation when it comes to Speedway when up against Poland.. Poland even dictates when FIM meetings takes place such is their power... And, to be fair, with the money they pay out, they should dictate what happens and when, as without that money the riders wouldn't have the same income levels...

Just to correct the last paragraph - I was in the Peter Craven Suite last night for the amazing celebration of Steve Casey’s life so checked. At the top of the stairs, outside the suite, in gold letters, it says “Peter Craven Suite”. Below that, there is a photograph of the “Wizard of balance” himself. So yes there is a mention and yes there is a photo

I hate to say it, but I have to agree with you. I personally know - and have known - many, many indivduals who have suffered major strokes and other life-changing events. I will admit that quite a few of them are a "little different" to what they were pre-stroke, but not one of them has turned into such a totally bitter and unpleasant individual.

The book signing was public, for marketing- there is no obligation for this to remain private, especially as the buyer paid £20 for the privilege of getting a signature on the night. Outright vulgar behaviour to accept the cash then ruin the book, should have offered a refund and politely declined to sign.

I am truly devastated at the loss of Steve. He was my friend and travelling companion on several memorable domestic and overseas trips. He had no side to him but was a straightforward gentle gentleman. He worked tirelessly to get Peter Collins to come back to Belle Vue - and don’t believe PC’s propaganda, he was told he would always be welcomed at the NSS as would any ex-Belle Vue rider. What wasn’t on offer though was his demand, not request, that nearly 200 of his cronies, some who’d had no involvement with speedway let alone Belle Vue, also got in free. Steve tried many times to talk sense into PC, including going round to his house, but PC would not change his mind, possibly because he’d backed himself into a corner. Steve was never one for taking offence and went to the Glossop signing of PC’s book. Having paid his £20, PC scrawled in his copy “Steve, I will never forgive you for what you have done to me and my family. I will never go to BV if you are there.” Steve shared a photo of the inscription but then said to me that he’d enjoyed reading the book. That is the sort of man that Steve was and I hope that, although Steve will never be at BV again, neither will PC as he’ll be barred. I am not alone in knowing that I will never forgive PC for what he wrote. Many men become world speedway champion, there’s one every year, but there will only ever be one Steve Casey. I knew Steve’s cancer would take him sooner rather than later but am still stunned that we have lost him. The world is a much sadder place today.
