Sheffield have been saved by the weather there, had a feeling it could of been a big Panthers win4 points

Yes it's early days and nowt is won in April/May however this Birmingham team as it stands will not win anything, Yes they have a good No1 but his high average was built on being very very good around his former home Track at Leicester, take away that home track average and it is/was obvious to most people his average would drop, but that high average limits the remaining team building possibilities, that is the start of where the team building has imo gone wrong, yes it was also thought that this would be a strong team at home and that they could get the odd away point. I will say again, I have a lot of time for Laurence Rogers and he spends many hours doing good things within Speedway, but a good team manager he is NOT, whoever makes the decisions at Birmingham Speedway should be on the phone to Alun Rossiter and do whatever it takes to get him in as Team Manager at Birmingham, because take it from me Birmingham people will not spend their hard earned money on watching this team as it presently stands. I'm sorry if this sounds harsh, but something needs to be done otherwise I can see the West Midlands being without Speedway in the not to distant future.4 points

We'll wait to see. If it is the BBC forecast you are looking at I find their predictions increasingly inaccurate. The Met Office is a much better gauge, dry and sunny for Monday2 points

Very healthy crowd for the previous 2 meetings and plenty of OAPs amongst it so they were not put off by the new fangled internet and no cash.Sometimes I think people like to make out that the old are incapable of any new tech forgetting that most have been using it for years my opinion2 points

Riss hasn't got concussion. He has a low white blood cell count which they think has been caused by an infection.2 points

A good sized crowd can look small there as it has a high capacity and the back straight stand holds quite a few. Probably still around 2-2.5k there.2 points

I wish everyone involved all the luck in the world and a very big well done, and good luck to Workington in the coming season, whilst its obviously a work in progress "Rome was'nt built in a day" the main part is already done..2 points

Leicester running with their own contracted seven riders? A ridiculous situation... There should be rules about this... The crowds these days expect to see loads of lads from neither of the clubs appearing that night... Won't end well all this, you mark my words.2 points

I think Edinburgh have the best idea with some sort of radius block to encourage people living locally to attend. Teams who rent Stadia probably do better as they may lose 2 or 3 in a family for cost of one stream. Teams who make money from food and drink I'd suggests are idiots to stream as they lose that income stream. You never know how many you are losing until you stop it for certain matches. My understanding is that for most matches all BSN net profit is pooled and shared equally amongst CL teams. I was told though that contrary to expectations of most Clubs that last year's Play Off money was shared only amongst play off participants at each stage. That's hearsay though.1 point

Not only that but he would have had 7 rides as well. I've always wished that if a team brings in a guest rider he should only be allowed to be used in programmed rides. Not as a tactical and not in heat 15. If at reserve only the regular reserve be allowed to have extra rides.1 point

Plus the only affect it would have is away fans going. I would have thought their admission policy is more of an issue imo, esp with the elder generation.1 point

Yup TB1 agree 1005. In fact afternoon speedway lacks the atmosphere of evening speedway IMO. If its a sunny day , all todays track " material" just doesn't hold enough moisture to prevent a dustbowl.1 point

Historically afternoon tracks tend to produce poor racing at foxhall, hopefully a bit of cloud cover without the rain might help.1 point

More to the point, in this day and age where EVERYTHING is expected to be available to the public (often through social media), I don't need to SEE things as proof. I know who and what to believe, as I'm not one of these crazy conspiracy theorists who refuses to believe fact and reality...1 point

It's pretty obvious who is telling the truth. On one side we've got a man on his own, claiming in his book (which contains many other errors and "misrememberings") that he didn't write the letters demanding free passes for 100 of his friends. Then on the other side we've got a number of promoters who received the letters, and many more who have seen the letters. These include the late Phil Rising, a fairly impartial journalist and self-confessed Collins fan. Then we've got the vitriolic scrawled message to a dying man who had only tried to help sort out the situation of the 100 free passes. Why would you be so nasty if you hadn't even demanded the 100 passes in the first place? Sorry, but you don't have to be Sherlock Holmes to solve this one.1 point

And sometimes you are just simply bang to rights. I am sure that there are many still of the opinion that Harold Shipman was just a little trigger happy with the flu jab and that Fred West was over enthusiastic when he was fitting damp proof courses.(cue the indignant comments of ''How dare you compare him to a mass murder etc etc) I have the list on my desk and it runs into the 100's and 100's and that's a fact. Whether you choose to believe that is none of my concern. The late Phil Rising was sent a copy and was well aware of its contents. This, I might remind you is from an ex-rider who retired some 36 years ago. According to some 20 odd riders I spoke with recently, all confirmed that they did not get a free pass during the one year PC was Promoter. In addition, the tone of the many letters received personally and by the BV management were abusive and demanding. I would challenge anyone reading this to say they would capitulate to such demands made this way. The P&L of any speedway club sits in the hands of the Promoter and so does the decision of the 'free list', Not an ex-rider of any description. Someone earlier mention Hans Nielsen. Does anyone think Hans would make such a demand of the current Oxford promotion and expected this to be granted? Its unthinkable. I have bitten my tongue on this subject for 7 years and have an A4 ring binder full of letters and notes that are appalling from the hand of the ex-World Champion. I also have copies of 3 letters sent to him from the BV management asking to come down and discuss the matter. Plus 1 inviting him to discuss a meeting to celebrate 40 years since his 76 victory in 2016. All unanswered. Interesting don't you think? The disgusting note scrawled in my late friends book really was the last straw and the facts need to be put out there. For those of you intimating that there are two sides of the story, its a witch hunt and it was a moment of aberration, you are welcome to your opinion. I much prefer facts. I have a clear conscience about all of my postings. The book incident was the last of many such abusive incidents and only 10% of the iceberg has been revealed. There is no getting away from the fact that Collins has totally brought this upon himself.1 point

At least the Casey family have got an apology, which is something. However it does seem to be a begrudging apology forced by his book publisher, perhaps out of fear of being left with a shed full of unsold books. And as others have said, the apology does beg more questions. 1. Collins claims not to know that Steve Casey was ill, yet he has been fighting the disease for several years. Collins' wife knew he was ill. Members of Collins' inner circle of friends knew. Steve Casey was a well-known figure. It's hard to believe Collins didn't know. Maybe it just slipped his mind in that moment of incandescent rage? 2. Collins says his feud with the promotion has gone on 35 years. That takes us back to 1988 when he himself was the BV promoter. Did he have a feud with himself? It's well-documented that Collins had a falling-out with John Perrin not long after they took over BV. And Perrin was a rough type who could fall out with anyone (despite also having his good side), so I wouldn't totally blame Collins for having a feud with him. But surely that would only last until the end of the Perrin era? The BV promotion has changed hands at least three times since then, and there have also been changes of personnel within the promotion during those times. So how has the feud managed to continue against people who had no connection with the actual feud? The only common connection is Collins - and in particular his list of 100+ people who he thinks should have a free pass to every Belle Vue match. (This list contains some former Aces riders, some former Aces juniors, some former non-Aces riders, some ex-Collins sponsors and friends from 50 years back, and some people with no connection to the sport at all). This list has been presented to every new promoter since Perrin, and unsurprisingly rejected by every new promoter. I suspect that Collins knows that no one could ever accept such a nonsensical list, and he uses it on purpose to cause trouble. Of course a few of the people on the list are genuine ex-Aces, but those are admitted to BV anyway. Eric Broadbelt, Ken Eyre, Bill Powell are all regulars, as were Peter Williams and Taffy Owen until their deaths. Chris Morton pops along every so often (which must be difficult considering how his involvement ended). Joe Screen has been. Andy and Paul Smith are obviously there with their son/nephew Jack, and Carl Stonehewer came when his son was second-half riding. Geoff Pusey came along last year with an old upright and was welcomed and allowed to do a few laps in the interval. Peter Ravn came with his clutch business and was welcomed and interviewed on the centre green. Basically any ex-Aces riders are welcomed and so would Collins have been if he'd wanted to come along.... ...And that's where Steve Casey came in. An ex-rider, but even more so a passionate Belle Vue supporter, he felt it was wrong that Collins was denying himself a chance to watch the sport he had graced for over a decade. Like many, he felt that people like Collins should still be part of Belle Vue. He tried, off his own bat, to work a solution so that Collins could end his petty vendetta and come along to BV without losing face. But despite Steve Casey's best efforts, Collins proved too stubborn and threw it all back at him. What Collins did to a dying gentleman who tried to help him is unforgiveable, and the apology is still very weak.1 point

Good grief. A 35 year old fued There have been Mafia or Albanian blood feuds that haven’t lasted that long !!!1 point

The current Belle Vue management have only been in place for 6 years and have no connection to past management teams! And there we have the truth. Collins' beef was with John Perrin, 35 years ago in 1988. Yet he has continued his petty vendetta against every new promotion that Belle Vue have had over the past 35 years. Everyone is at fault except him. And he will continue his vendetta against every future promotion. The Pope and the Archbishop of Canterbury could buy Belle Vue tomorrow, but unless he is given Sainthood and 100+ pals can come along, they will be attacked. A great, great rider, but a sad, sad, little man.1 point
