You have to tip your hat to Jason Doyle whether you like him or not. As Hawkins said last night, he’s struggled for set ups and speed in every visit there this year, and didn’t look as quick as others last night either and looked a bit vulnerable even when in front. But when the pressure was on he just wasn’t going to be denied was he? Pure guts, effort and determination not to be beaten when it really mattered. When Kurtz and Bewely briefly hit the front around there like they did here, think we all felt that was that. When they get in front they normally disappear in to the distance but Doyle was having none of it! Very intelligent riding too, cutting across and stopping the runs from the Ace’s pair at just the right times. Superb.10 points

Can I just say that I am heartily sick of this superior attitude ? Belle Vue who have had a track built for them with no restrictions compared to Wolves who have to fit within the confines of a greyhound track and whatever their landlords decree. You may or may not know that in 1996 the greyhound track was being altered and the stadium was not available to us, so we had to ride the 'home' leg of the KO Cup final at Long Eaton. On match days we only have access to the the track late on due to greyhound racing in the afternoon. These are the sort of things that we have to contend with. Also as a Wolves fan you have zero right to speak on my behalf, so refrain from doing so.I hope that's clear.10 points

Didn't Scott's twitter post question the integrity of the Glasgow promotion? Just asking9 points

Sorry to upset the applecart, but as a dyed-in-the-wool Tigers supporter for 58 years, it gives me no pleasure whatever to see "my team" racing in the semi-finals with only ONE rider who actually started the campaign in Sheffield colours. I do not recognise this team as MY team and, even if it should reach the final and emerge victorious, I cannot perceive any circumstances in which I could rejoice in a faux-Sheffield team as Premiership Champions. Added to which, the "final" itself (assuming faux-Sheffield reach that stage) will be a race-off between the teams that finished third and fourth in the league of seven, making it more a 'mid-table joust' than a contest of champions!8 points

Just an observation - Witches totalled 93 - 4 points less and they lose...... Thank you Jack Smith for your 4 points7 points

Just a note about Kyle Howarth. Really enjoyed his time at Wolves, very exciting and never, ever, gave up. A true team man. Rode well tonight.7 points

Can't they just race first week in October like they have for the last 15 yrs.6 points

How far away is Scott ,the call off has proved justified as the rain showers have been torrential with the odd bright spell in between. Anyway who really cares how unconvinced he is anyway it’s off and rightly so.6 points

The overall win for Ipswich was due to the performance of the Aces at Ipswich. As mentioned in this thread some tracks have to be shoe horned into other sports arenas. We can’t all have a fantastic facility like the NSS. I hope Ipswich go on and win the league. Sheffield got rid of riders who did a good job for them just before the play offs and guests saw them win at Monmore last night. Ipswich were relatively unchanged throughout the season. Can’t see Wolves turning this one round but would be great if they managed it.6 points

Think we’re all getting to the past caring stages ,four weeks sitting idle between June and July and now we are depending on weather entering October. Bookmark this and we will be saying the same next year and the next. But to answer your question on or before Saturday or we forfeit the meeting.6 points

I agree entirely with your comments, the racing last night was terrific and heat 15 amazing although you may have a different viewpoint as it was disappointing from a Belle Vue perspective. We have always had very diverse tracks in this country from the larger faster tracks like Peterborough and Kings Lynn to the smaller tracks like Monmore. As I have said many times there are many that have always criticised Monmore but it will be missed and last night looked very entertaining, personally it is a track I always enjoyed visiting when Poole were in the top league and I don't really see the point of slagging off certain tracks, Leicester have had their detractors in the past and so have my own team Poole.5 points

Belle Vue are very lucky to have got the council to agree to that development & help pay for it, so hats off but unless things change dramatically it’s a one off sadly. I do get peed off with the were better than you are especially after years of awful Kirky lane track….some do have short memories5 points

Congratulations Ipswich. Full marks to Jason Doyle for making the effort to race tonight after the horrific looking accident. He really is a loyal rider to UK speedway .5 points

Whatever the right or wrongs of these call offs, the weather can not be allowed to determine the destination of the championship trophy. Time for another extension?4 points

Don't understand where you are coming from, we are allowed to change riders during the season that's in the rules, three changes have been made due to injuries, what do you want us to do, ride as a four man team we all knew when the season started that who ever finished top of the league finished top of the qualifying competition, the league winners are the team that wins the play offs, the same as it was last season when the team that finished top of the league didn't win the league if the teams don't like the rules they shouldn't compete in the competition, its as simple as that4 points
-
Yes they have conveniently forgot about that place and how they rode inside a dog track and bore us now with this holier than though attitude to everyone else.4 points
-
Or perhaps the defining moment of Ipswich's season was Nick Morris' inability to piss into a little jar?4 points
-
Given his lay off the previous 7 days or so its a stunning bit of guts and determination to even ride let alone pull off that heat 154 points

The sport would be a poorer place if all tracks were the same. In the last 20 odd years we’ve lost some real diverse tracks and the sport is poorer for it.4 points

Speedway I love it.. but it’s run by idiots who take all us loyal fans as idiots the gaps in our summer sport schedule has been ridiculous this season and we are scrambling about to get the most important meetings in absolute joke no wonder the sport is becoming a laughing stock and none of it being the loyal fans fault .3 points

The British League got up to 19 teams at one stage. Hull (boulevard) and Newport (Somerton park) were awful tracks, square around football/rugby pitches, but I never wanted them gone. They provided speedway for fans in those places and better that than nothing at all.3 points
-
Damned if you do, damned if you dont. I felt it was a bit early to call it off when they did especially given that the weather was forecast as it has been - a little rain earlier, nice clear afternoon and as others have said a perfect night for speedway as things stand just now. They need to stop looking at the weather forecasts given out from England and listen to Sean Batty or Windy Wilson as they are far more accurate up here. Could be costly if they run out of dates3 points

What the action showed from Wolves was as equally as thrilling. You must have had your eyes closed to not witness that or just blinkered. Monmore was always about entertainment and not just pure throttle jockey happy. Watching the skill of the riders was what made Monmore special. I just hope they can replicate that on any future track.3 points

It’s a whole different argument how clubs and fans interrupt the rules regarding replacement riders so I’m not getting into that but I thought Robert Lambert was super impressive last night, to turn up at a track which is nothing like he’s seen in a long while and show the speed whilst having to come from the back a couple of times as well, very impressive. The talent gap between Robert, Dan and supposedly the next up and comers in British speedway is massive.3 points

And to think, probably the most important race in the Witches season didn't even feature an Ipswich rider. There is such a fine line between success and failure at times... Heat 15: Łaguta, Fricke, Tarasenko, Lawson 58.7 4-2 (58-32)3 points
-
Given Oxford made Redcar run with 3/4 guests plus r/r be bit rich to refuse on those grounds3 points

They couldn't possibly stage manage Wrocław v Toruń, the teams were too imbalanced. If British speedway was stage managed, Belle Vue would always win, so that the racing would look amazing. Your attitude is pathetic, and you have no value to add here.3 points
-
read most of the comments on here, some good some bad and some indifferent!...but for me both tracks have their quirks, both teams have their fans favourites but overall both teams served up an absolute spectacle for the fans, its an old cliche but the winner was speedway.3 points

Cracking meeting... Well done Ippo and all the best for the final... Always liked Chris Louis and felt he is one of those that could really move the sport forwards.. Special mention to Captain Kurtz, absolutely gave everything over both legs and hammered the pit gate after Ht 15 he was so pissed off... Got to be back next season as the Aces No1... Ultimately I think Wright missing was the game changer as his will to win is always worth a couple of extra points at least, and he seems to avoid last places in those "big races"which the Aces had too many of over the two legs.. Emil and Doyle were brilliant at the end though, and that ultimately is what you pay the big bucks for, what a superb minute and a bit of Speedway... Well Done Ipswich, best of luck in getting the double...3 points

And I thought the talk about the pitch was absolutely drivel. It’s almost laughable the argument that Brandon Estates are putting up for 3G pitch and affordable housing. Like they are doing the area a favour and as mentioned it’s a necessity for the affordable housing not because they want to do it, same as the pitch was never on original plans but is now because it ticks a box. Mr Goatly is annoying, he’s paid lots of money to be so and try and get any attention to the inspector to try and undermine the council and SCS. It must however get to a point where it’s like is that all you have ? His derogatory comments are purposely done and will continue to be I’m sure as the facts are that nobody but Brandon Estates wants this housing estate. Council, cross party support, locals, fans of both sports… the list goes on but to try and convince the inspector he’s going to be as condescending and try any trick possible. I hope the way Oxford have gone about their business and incorporated school visits etc is mentioned at some stage, and in what other sport I’d say do you get the chance to meet and get photos with your hero’s as easy as it is and especially with speedway who have massive role models and how a football pitch comes even close to being comparable is just beyond logic? It’s a shame Scott Nicholls couldn’t have been used, our most successful captain and I’m sure he’d have given a good account of what being a participant in winning leagues in front of thousands of fans at Brandon was like. This deferential from participating to spectator is just odd, anyone who watched football on tv when it returned after covid will see exactly the effect it has.2 points

And beat them Tigers please, can’t let Lambert win it again.2 points

Perfect weather for speedway. Sunny, warm, breezy. Very poor decision imo. What was stopping them waiting until 2pm or 3pm? Oxford isn't exactly on the other side of the world. I struggle to make sense of some of these postponement decisions.2 points

Congratulations Ipswich. end of the day it’s over 30 races and not 15 and over the 30 races Ipswich was better and deserve the final place. Good luck in final. Cherish the experience2 points

Haha! Goatley trying to say that if you're team is having a bad season it has an adverse effect on your well being (so they should demolish the stadium and build a housing estate!) Birmingham & KL fans be aware! You're all going to be taken into care2 points

Maybe Robert Lambert should ditch the ''Ruthless'' nickname, and change it to ''Play-off Bob''...2 points

Shambolic fixtures once again. Get the league and play offs done first, then worry about the cup and trophy. We can't keep having this scrapping about in Sept and Oct to get the most important meetings of the season ridden.2 points
-
The simplest thing to do is for Glasgow to go to Redcar and lose. That way everyone will be happy. The season fizzles out and clubs and riders lose out financially. But maybe, just maybe this will be the catalyst to do away with play offs.2 points
-
Fearing the wrath of the Glasgow fans for this...but perhaps this is karma for Glasgow's very tame calling off of this league fixture earlier in the year!2 points
-
Like you say nothing changes same fixture shambles year after year. This year has been ridiculous.IMO.2 points
-
Can’t keep extending cut offs though we’re do you stop. As it is a summer sport the fixtures for the playoffs should and could have been completed by mid July. But once again here we are trying to cram meetings in to complete the season when the weather doesn’t play ball.2 points
-
I may be a Stupid Woman, but how stupid are all the people who accept it was a OFFICIAL RESULT. Stage managed to keep every viewer entranced on a result after 2 heats. Did you watch Wroclaw v Torun, not stage managed. Betting on speedway is allowed and riders make a packet for winning and LOSING races.2 points
