  1. Pleased to see Cookie back to his old self. I wasn’t there yesterday but wasn’t surprised at the result. We signed essentially same top 5 as last year with Justin in for Craig. As mentioned before our senior reserve is struggling. We didn’t have our 1 and 2 and no way did we have depth to cover R/R with three reserves in team. Monarchs had been interested in Vuolas too but he signed for Comets. Would have liked to have seen some fresh faces blended in with senior riders. Other commitments permitting I often go to Workington matches on Saturdays to support Cookie. Great racing, lovely people and an exciting team.

  2. I hope this is not a widely held view. Certainly in my experience I've been welcomed into the Oxford family.

  3. The difference is that Lewi raced a full meeting at Scunthorpe last night, and although tonight's crash has aggravated the former injury, it is not be considered a withdrawal because of coming back too soon.

  4. I think you're really a Swindon fan who has since converted to Oxford. Which means you're definitely NOT a proper Oxford fan. While I can appreciate speedway fans in general wanting to watch speedway and it's sad to see some teams not around any more, I never once started supporting Swindon while Oxford were out of action - I went as I wanted to watch speedway and naturally didn’t want Swindon to win. Can you imagine Cradley fans becoming Wolves fans, etc.? Sends a shiver down my spine.

  5. Well my friend certainly does. His team was Reading but he now supports Oxford and is thoroughly enjoying the meetings at Cowley as are the rest of his family.

  9. Let’s be honest 99.9% of us knew this team was poor. Makes you wonder whoever assembled it couldn’t see that. Agree on Zischke the lad has been a revelation but it wasn’t unknown how much potential he had.

  10. I would have thought it isn’t the court case but possibly he spent his budget on getting a proper number one and the rest of the team isn’t performing which is partly down to lack of meetings which is partly bluster’s fault. it’s more difficult to get guests as sometimes only one other team isn’t riding on the same night. add the problem of him falling out with several other riders and not being prepared to pay the going rate for heat leaders. All this makes thinks more difficult. his stubbornness is costing him dearly.

  11. Certainly not. One of the great things about Oxford's return has been the amount of Swindon (and Reading) supporters attending meetings.

  12. An enjoyable GP which was close throughout and had some really good racing, Michelsen deserved his win but full credit to the track curator which was a credit to the series. Onto Prague now and unfortunately hopes of another cracker are not high.

  13. No doubt we didn't see the real Monarch's with Josh Pickering and Lasse Fredriksen missing. Rider replacement and guest didn't score what the two missing riders would have while Josh is an out and out racer who would have lifted the entertainment level further, shame he wasn't riding. Paco Castagna improved and finished with 2 of the Monarchs 3 heat victories and was decent value for his 11 points , Sedgy chipped in with 9 but no one else really caught the eye. Key Thomson started with a nice win but surprisingly made little impression after that when he looked like he was going to have a good afternoon. Young Sam Hagon looked a different rider in the No 2 position than the one who scored double figures against us as reserve for Poole on Wednesday. Rider of the meeting for the Comets was young Tate Zischke, protected by some good defensive riding from Cookie who looked a little down on his normal pace the Grandchester Flyer was imperious and it was great to see him go over to Andrew and Steve following his win in heat 15 and take their congratulations along with the skipper. All the Comets chipped in with points today and that can only help with confidence especially for Sam and Celina. a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon at Costa del Northside. Message to all the Comets riders more donuts, wheelies, burnouts and coming round following heat wins please, the crowd appreciate it and like Batch said in a previous interview with Roy albeit in the context of tracks ' It's about entertainment' Thank you to the Monarchs fans who made the journey it was good to see you guys. After watching Comets ship 61 points at Poole Wednesday I know how you guys will have been feeling. Up The Comets.

  14. In a very short space of time, the self imposed no Danes rule looks completely ludicrous whatever its intentions were. Ditching Vissing for Flint was just mental. Brennan needed pastures new however Stevie W I agree wasnt the answer. I still think we would have arrived at this point of having to restructure the team, just the Complin situation sped it up a week or two. Some flawed thinking over the winter that clearly hasn't worked out. Thank goodness Pearson has exceeded expectations.

  16. I think you need to look deeper into why kings lynn are struggling to attract enough fans. do you remember Brian Havelock running Redcar ? He had poor teams year on year with the same riders and apathy towards the fans. Crowds dropped further and further each year. Interesting enough though the club always made a profit. then a new promotion with enthusiasm invested into the team and engaged with the fans. crowds returned to see good entertaining racing on a well prepared track. look how the Courtney’s run Berwick and Oxford. They too engage with the fans. Buster is tired and fed up and it shows. It’s minimal effort and open the turnstiles and it’s a take it or leave it attitude and a complete contempt of his customers. all lynns troubles are from the top and the owner.

  22. We didn't ship anyone out last season, we got Tarasenko due to Marcin being recalled by his Polish team as they were fighting for promotion and he felt that they needed him, we would happlily have kept Marcin, he was very popular with the fans. We are now in a position that we need to replace Lee and who knows what management are thinking about that. Losing Lee has cost us big time as he was expected to do well this season but alas his speedway career looks to be finished now. And I actually hope the Comets do very well as you have my number 1 as captain and I am following Celina's progress

  26. Word was he was tired of the long t journey up which is understandable with the schedule he had. But our loss is definitely Pooles gain , not sure if he still remains an asset or if we sold him on a full transfer.

  28. Well when this stupid rule was introduced as a knee jerk decision following the whining of a losing team manager* I and many other wise people (including ACU referees) said it was a crazy rule because it placed referees and medical officers in the invidious position of making a subjective decision on what's 'new' and what's 'aggravated' * King's Lynn (oh why is it always King's Lynn?) 4 July 2022 following the withdrawal of Michael Palm Toft

  29. League meetings weren't the problem, it was BSN and Play off dates which aren't known at the start of the season.. Do we have a Poole fixation? Is that why we signed Worrall, seemingly a Poole specialist?

  30. Didn't Plymouth contest the decision last night, and they have asked the SCB to investigate. Personally I think they are wasting their time.

  31. He is a good rider so I wouldn't be surprised if he does well. I think his indesision was part of the reason as he would have been a safe signing (and in hindsight a one we should have done) but he was in a bit of a slump at home (or maybe just inconsistent, can't fully remeber), only getting out of it when he got to ride at No2. I would guess that also factored into the desision because if the promoton believed in him they wouldn't have let him go as easily as they seemed to have done.

  36. All I'm suggesting is that it is difficult to evidence it. However, balance sheets are an indicator of the health of a company. Ps what time does the tooth fairy come and how long before Santa's arrives?

  37. Gutted by this. There’s an argument to be made that Complin won that league title for Glasgow last season. No, he didn’t top score, but he went above and beyond what was expected of him. His heat fourteen move and block on Lewis Kerr against Oxford at Ashfield, allowing Brennan to come through the inside, was genuine world class speedway. What was more impressive was his connection with the fans. He almost single handedly had Ashfield rocking. Regardless, he’s f*cked up, big time. I heard he was gifted a very expensive engine which, including the many sponsors who backed him and the multiple fans who bought his merchandise, renders a long list of disappointed and let down parties. What a shame.

  38. Good decision by the SCB. No point calling off fixtures if it costs you 2 points, won't harm Lynn and his season, but at least a precedent has been set.

  41. They drastically lowered the points limit & put in restrictions in an attempt to turn it into more of a "development" league. However that's just a quick & easy option. As it means 30-40 year olds who've ridden for 10 years, but will never make it can ride, but a 17 year old who averages 4.01 in the Champ can't ride. However you have to be careful with age limits as age discrimination is illegal. A 60 year old could go for an apprenticeship interview in an office & has the same rights as a 17 year old school leaver. Personally I would've riders averages based on both points scored & experience (not age). I have no issues with Hutt & Mudgway riding, if a team has 6 developing riders, one old hand is hardly gonna stop their progress. Besides if there were better 15 year olds out there, I'm sure they'd be in the team. Finally, this is a one-off appearance by Mudgway as Mulford is racing on the continent & no guest is allowed.

  42. I wouldn’t say it strengthens the Monarchs, Sam is very capable but Lasse also is fond of racers tracks if you look at his scores at places like Redcar and Scunny in the past.

  43. Those lineups sum up why the NDL has been reduced to a mockery. Nothing personal against Hutt but he simply lacks the ability to be either competitive or safe in a fixture of this level. The fact that Mudgeway has been quietly slid into the side in place of Mulford shows either cost cutting or more likely that Jake sees the NDL as nothing more than a nuisance. I feel for those who will end up paying good money for a very one sided match.

  46. Are you Laguta Racing Fan in disguise or summit, makes me wonder with all the nonsense you keep shouting, Chapman only has himself to blame by thinking he's bigger than the sport and keep postponing meetings when it suits him, whether it's make believe rain, rider availablity or a broken pit gate
