  1. Suppose that depends on your definition of "Chemist". Walter White was a chemist.

  2. Hi darling, we can go for a candlelight supper if the speedway is off. Plus a lovely flat white with carrot cake nibbles

  3. Well something worked as both pages on the PCC planning portal are full of objections, so a big thank to anyone who made the effort I've equally had the same thoughts about the club ownership but have been told: "Don’t get hung up on the ownership issue, it really isn’t that important." so that's a reliable message on that situation IMO.

  4. Very personable, modest, level headed young man as well a talent on a Speedway bike. His family must be very proud of him along with Darcy Ward and all his sponsors. For 18 years old he has been deeply impressive. Good on ya young Tate.

  5. Just a big thank you to @racers and royals for all the hard work that's done providing all the info on here. It's much appreciated.

  6. Great to hear that story. In the days of Eastbourne my kids would always go into the pits and speak to the riders. Remember my daughter making a friendship bracelet for Cameron Woodward and was grinning from ear to ear when he gave her some CWR stickers in exchange for it. With the closure of Arlington it is not possible to get to tracks during the week but in Half Term we managed to get to Oxford for the meeting vs Ipswich and they were able to get photos with Emil Sayfutdinov and Doyley who was talkative and very amenable when they asked for a photo.

  9. Interesting little schoolgirl squabble about whether or not Swindon/Oxford/Reading fans should support their local rivals when their track shuts down. My own feeling is there is no right or wrong answer. It's all down to personal feeling. As the saying goes - you can't choose who you support, they choose you. If you feel it, then support Oxford. If you don't, then don't. As a Swindon supporter, do I now support Oxford? I was, after all, born in Oxford and lived near to the city as a small child so it should make sense for me to support them as they are now my local team and a track that I have attended regularly over the years right? Nope. No chance! I just can't do it. I tried. I can't. Nothing against Oxford. I go occasionally and enjoy watching. I just don't care if they win or lose so I can't say I support them. When I saw Arnie there in his Oxford gear, it reminded me of a line in the film "Dances with Wolves": "You turned injun, din'tcha!" Had they signed a team with a few of the old Swindon team - as was mentioned - then I might feel different. Would be a bit weird though. Maybe they should bring Rosco in as team manager and sign Jason Doyle. At least they might have a chance of winning the league then!

  12. You know what's infuriating? When people forget about our other, younger reserve rider. Its not about just improving celina because she's a woman. It's about improving and helping reserve riders because they are young riders who could do with it.

  19. There’s next to no rain forecast for Sheffield between now and the meeting tomorrow. Certainly nothing that would put the meeting in danger. Same for this fixture. Nothing forecast so if it were to be postponed it would have by now.

  27. Again I think you're giving him far too much credit for him thinking about what he does or probably more to the point how he goes about doing it. But the "bad boy of British Speedway" has been the missing boy of British Speedway for the last 8 or 9 years and did he think Polish Speedway needed a boost when attacking that fan? I'm all for a bit of controversy and winding up the fans but please do it with some class and style. Like I've said, I think he can be a thoughtful and an engaging character who's very interesting to listen to

  30. Hows it the chemists fault? Every time someone goes in to ask for benadryl for a cold do you think the pharmacist should come out and interrogate them aboutwhether they intend to ride speedway? The pharmacist is more than happy enough to advise but it is Lee who has to ask about it. They have no legal right to refuse to sell him it unless abuse is suspected

  31. We need to learn from it! How a club that could up to now pull good riders from nowhere when no one was seemingly available and play the average system to their absolute advantage, could put together this years' 1-7 is beyond me. There will definitely be some acclimatisation for the newbies who've only known success and perhaps a reality check for the long termers.

  32. is this is how true speedway fans see this . as does this post . so , you start a new job and it takes time to settle in . its not like a light switch when its either off or on . last weeks meeting against edinburgh was close racing , but the scores did not look that way. Celina won the reserves race in a FASTER time than Tate in ht 1 . even when Celona got pushed out on the first bend , she made the ground up on the front three . both reserves are improving at their own rate and deserve time to get to grips with everything you also have to look at CELINAS sponsor (ray fisher bodyworks ) how do you think they feel about that . this could damage any further involvement with help from them with the riders . i think about %95 of fans who turn up @ worky do like the effort both put into it , but speedway does not work like that .. to to see Celins and Sam doing their best to improve bit by bit .didnt Sam beat kyle howarth at worky v scuunthorpe . more progress from these two .we are NOT glasgow and drop riders like hot spuds . we are supporters who love the sport for what it is . up the marras . speedway would be a borefest if changes were made to win a silver tin pot worth about £10.00 .

  33. Rob Godfrey stopped clubs riding on Friday because they could not get guests. Seems same rule has forced Mildenhall to stay on Sundays if they come back. BSPL inconsistent again. Getting fed up with all this nonsense. And who gave away UK priority on Thursdays? Is it true? Only read it on here. Never seen BSPL statement and I subscribe to Star.

  34. I'm intrigued as to where this person claims this 'announcement' was made. Buster's only involvement with stock car meetings is renting the track to the promotion, and running his burger stall. He certainly doesn't get anywhere near a mic to make any announcements, so my guess would be that someone had a dig at him while buying a burger and he gave a sarcastic response.

  38. I’ve watched Oxford since 2000 and when they finished Swindon. Therefore I am Speedway Fan.Oxford were without a team for 15 plus years with little chance of returning so now their miraculously back so called Fans like you are continually calling for changes. After all you are a proper fan so changes should be made to plicate you and a small number who travel these days (look around you ). Next time you are at Cowley note the atmosphere I don’t here people constantly calling for changes just Fans getting excited, getting behind their teams and enjoying the action.

  39. I hope this is not a widely held view. Certainly in my experience I've been welcomed into the Oxford family.

  40. I think you're really a Swindon fan who has since converted to Oxford. Which means you're definitely NOT a proper Oxford fan. While I can appreciate speedway fans in general wanting to watch speedway and it's sad to see some teams not around any more, I never once started supporting Swindon while Oxford were out of action - I went as I wanted to watch speedway and naturally didn’t want Swindon to win. Can you imagine Cradley fans becoming Wolves fans, etc.? Sends a shiver down my spine.

  42. Jumping in late (too late?), I'd go with John Cook, apologies if already mentioned. In 1980 he stuggled badly at Hull on a 4v JAWA known for tricky handling, he moved to Ipswich as part of the deal taking Dennis Sigalos to Foxhall (A HUGE loss to Hull BTW) with Billy Sanders coming to Hull (along wth a cash adjustment), where Billy became quite popular. But from 1981, riding a track he seemed to prefer more on a Weslake he defo preferred more, Cookie became the all-action 'Cowboy' that we all loved to watch, never a dull moment when he was on track....

  43. at Arena we had Rob Tilbury in the old NL days - the stinker rode for Canterbury - got in punch ups with the Chessell brothers and Andrew Silver and was just panto villan no 1 for us Arena fans- then Canterbury closed down and he signed for us in 1988 - proved a higely popular rider upping his average to well over 8 probably nearer 9 as well - always gave it 100% so we forgave him his past and he became a firm fave! (not so much his ability it was we really disliked him that I select him)

  45. Alf Busk at Swindon. He came into the team and was hopeless - barely scored a point for half the season. Then, all of a sudden, he top scored at Belle Vue. I remember it now - looking in disbelief in the newspaper to see the result and seeing "A. Busk 10" written on the results page. Not sure what happened, but from then on, he was very good for the Robins. Another one at Swindon was Bobby McNeil, who signed in 1975 and was a pretty average reserve for the whole year. Last match of the season - top scored with 14 against Hull. Then, the following year, became a heat leader. The Jason Doyle theory is another good one. I really felt that Swindon had drawn the short straw when we swapped Maciej Janowski for Jason but it turned out that we had the better deal. I never saw him as a future World Champion in his early career.
