  1. Suppose that depends on your definition of "Chemist". Walter White was a chemist.

  3. Well something worked as both pages on the PCC planning portal are full of objections, so a big thank to anyone who made the effort I've equally had the same thoughts about the club ownership but have been told: "Don’t get hung up on the ownership issue, it really isn’t that important." so that's a reliable message on that situation IMO.

  4. Very personable, modest, level headed young man as well a talent on a Speedway bike. His family must be very proud of him along with Darcy Ward and all his sponsors. For 18 years old he has been deeply impressive. Good on ya young Tate.

  6. Great to hear that story. In the days of Eastbourne my kids would always go into the pits and speak to the riders. Remember my daughter making a friendship bracelet for Cameron Woodward and was grinning from ear to ear when he gave her some CWR stickers in exchange for it. With the closure of Arlington it is not possible to get to tracks during the week but in Half Term we managed to get to Oxford for the meeting vs Ipswich and they were able to get photos with Emil Sayfutdinov and Doyley who was talkative and very amenable when they asked for a photo.

  9. Interesting little schoolgirl squabble about whether or not Swindon/Oxford/Reading fans should support their local rivals when their track shuts down. My own feeling is there is no right or wrong answer. It's all down to personal feeling. As the saying goes - you can't choose who you support, they choose you. If you feel it, then support Oxford. If you don't, then don't. As a Swindon supporter, do I now support Oxford? I was, after all, born in Oxford and lived near to the city as a small child so it should make sense for me to support them as they are now my local team and a track that I have attended regularly over the years right? Nope. No chance! I just can't do it. I tried. I can't. Nothing against Oxford. I go occasionally and enjoy watching. I just don't care if they win or lose so I can't say I support them. When I saw Arnie there in his Oxford gear, it reminded me of a line in the film "Dances with Wolves": "You turned injun, din'tcha!" Had they signed a team with a few of the old Swindon team - as was mentioned - then I might feel different. Would be a bit weird though. Maybe they should bring Rosco in as team manager and sign Jason Doyle. At least they might have a chance of winning the league then!

  12. You know what's infuriating? When people forget about our other, younger reserve rider. Its not about just improving celina because she's a woman. It's about improving and helping reserve riders because they are young riders who could do with it.

  26. Maturity? Excuse me! How the hell does supporting the opposition instead of converting to support our once rivals make me immature? I never caused any trouble when I was watching speedway at Swindon. I never threatened anyone or had an altercations. I simply wanted Swindon's rivals to win. I was (and am) a fan of speedway, that's why I went and enjoyed myself regardless of the result.... but I never wanted Swindon to win. What's the problem with that?

  31. Credit where credit is due, Poole have acted swiftly to prevent bad PR and running the risk of a late decision. On balance, with all the forecasts available and I’d imagine the track curator will have a more sophisticated weather system than a mobile phone app, it’s the right call and well done to both clubs for facilitating such a swift rearrangement on Friday

  32. Again I think you're giving him far too much credit for him thinking about what he does or probably more to the point how he goes about doing it. But the "bad boy of British Speedway" has been the missing boy of British Speedway for the last 8 or 9 years and did he think Polish Speedway needed a boost when attacking that fan? I'm all for a bit of controversy and winding up the fans but please do it with some class and style. Like I've said, I think he can be a thoughtful and an engaging character who's very interesting to listen to

  35. And additionally on that, we need Peterborough Speedway fans and the wider speedway world to get a second wind and register an objection on the Peterborough City Council planning portal (Either new or additional comments based on what you now know: just say that the objection is additional. Doesn't need to be anything detailed but we need to counteract the raft of weak support comments being submitted recently (some of which offer no comment but just register as a support submission when the numbers are compiled) As well as yourself, you can get friends and family to submit a new or additional objection as long they say as such if additional: 23/00412/OUT | Outline permission for up to 650 dwellings - this is where Peterborough Speedway sits. https://planpa.peterborough.gov.uk/online-applications/applicationDetails.do?activeTab=makeComment&keyVal=RSXWVDML04U00 23/00400/OUT | Outline permission for up to 850 dwellings - this is the part not in the local plan that the chancer has thrown it to totally confuse the issue https://planpa.peterborough.gov.uk/online-applications/applicationDetails.do?activeTab=makeComment&keyVal=RSOMJ0MLIWV00

  36. Hows it the chemists fault? Every time someone goes in to ask for benadryl for a cold do you think the pharmacist should come out and interrogate them aboutwhether they intend to ride speedway? The pharmacist is more than happy enough to advise but it is Lee who has to ask about it. They have no legal right to refuse to sell him it unless abuse is suspected

  37. From memory we signed our team quite early, suggesting these were the guys we wanted. Perhaps too early for Brennan. Throw in a strange decision not to have Danes this year and a couple of doubtful choices and you end up with a pretty poor team. Worrall might have been signed as he was perceived as a Poole specialist; Flint was a shot in the dark while Starke was signed for old times sake. A strong top two -second only to Oxford if based on averages- and high averaged reserves, squeezed the middle and left little scope for manoeuvre. Thank goodness for James P.

  38. I'm intrigued as to where this person claims this 'announcement' was made. Buster's only involvement with stock car meetings is renting the track to the promotion, and running his burger stall. He certainly doesn't get anywhere near a mic to make any announcements, so my guess would be that someone had a dig at him while buying a burger and he gave a sarcastic response.

  39. I think that Oxford will keep Craig Cook, it would be madness to let him go on his present form. I can see Oxford releasing Lewis Kerr. And given the choice between Kyle Howarth and Lewis Kerr, I would go for Kyle.

  42. I’ve watched Oxford since 2000 and when they finished Swindon. Therefore I am Speedway Fan.Oxford were without a team for 15 plus years with little chance of returning so now their miraculously back so called Fans like you are continually calling for changes. After all you are a proper fan so changes should be made to plicate you and a small number who travel these days (look around you ). Next time you are at Cowley note the atmosphere I don’t here people constantly calling for changes just Fans getting excited, getting behind their teams and enjoying the action.

  46. Yeah, Rob was definitely an "acquired taste"! What a poseur! Funny thing, with riders like him, their persona gets in the way of their ability. Rob actually was a damn good rider, but people let their views of him colour their opinions.

  47. Alf Busk at Swindon. He came into the team and was hopeless - barely scored a point for half the season. Then, all of a sudden, he top scored at Belle Vue. I remember it now - looking in disbelief in the newspaper to see the result and seeing "A. Busk 10" written on the results page. Not sure what happened, but from then on, he was very good for the Robins. Another one at Swindon was Bobby McNeil, who signed in 1975 and was a pretty average reserve for the whole year. Last match of the season - top scored with 14 against Hull. Then, the following year, became a heat leader. The Jason Doyle theory is another good one. I really felt that Swindon had drawn the short straw when we swapped Maciej Janowski for Jason but it turned out that we had the better deal. I never saw him as a future World Champion in his early career.
