After the 3 Hour Drive, I was stunned to get to Oxford and it was Dry. Drizzle did start after Heat 1,and got gradually worse upto end of Heat 6. On the Situation in Heat 6, Tungate knew what he was doing, but for me the track on Bend 3 and 4 didn't look safe. I didn't look at this Dry Window you guys are suggesting, so can't comment on that, but it did come down heavy and it wasn't raceable whilst heavy rain was coming down. Not sure what to say if Oxford were winning by 10, would they wanted to carry on, I think getting to Heat 10 would of been an effort. Long way to go, but that's the Sport I'm afraid, but we were flying, especially Adam Ellis, but time to move onto Leicester next Thursday and possibly Danny King's return.5 points

I was there, and the weather was pretty bad to be fair. It was actually quite bright before the meeting and the track looked dry (hence why it was watered - would have been a dust bowl in heat one otherwise). The fact Erik Riss was racing it and made a pass in heat two shows it was pretty good. BUT then it started to rain and got heavier and heavier. It was pretty torrential from heat four onwards. It stopped for a bit just before it was called off, but then returned again. I know the Ipswich fans are a bit upset, but there's no way the meeting would have got to heat 10. And put it this way, I was stood on the third bend and got completely soaked and the covers on the greyhound track were flooded - that shows much rain there was. I doubt the full extent of it was picked up on BSN,4 points

Somebody would've got badly injured if they continued imo. More than likely Wright considering he likes to play ten pin bowling with a motorbike.3 points

Watered the track before the start with rain forecast who decides that!!! The track was rideable look at Emil and Ellis …. Seen many meetings back in the 80’s and 90’s with sawdust down and riders struggling but it carried on Today most riders are too precious … kind of sums up society in a way3 points

This is the one-off riders championship that is hosted annually. It’s not the development series that is new this season and is supposedly around the country at multiple tracks, but so far Leicester are the only club to announce a date.3 points

Yes, thanks for the explanation, it sounds like BSN were under playing it a bit then, they kept saying it was just drizzle.2 points

Whilst the standard of weather forecast is awful that makes decisions tougher. ALL weather forecasts today said this would happen so for me Morris needs to introduce some standards for watering and/or how and when to call meetings off in advance because its all over the place. Lynn call it off days before (sometimes right/sometimes wrong), Ipswich and Oxford (to name two) drag fans to the track despite the forecast. (again sometimes right/sometimes wrong) All a bit rubbish in my view and not at what people expect from a professional sport.2 points

Irrelevant I’ve seen many meetings in the 40 years I’ve watched Speedway where it’s poor wet conditions The sport is just in the doldrums and all of these farcical rain offs just help hammer the nail in2 points

Correct decision fans moan about paying high admission and they want to see speedway on a wet track no thanks I wittensed the Aces/Sheffield disasater we don't need another one of them thanks2 points

Sayfutdinov looked far from comfortable also and if riders of that calibre are struggling, as disappointing as it is, the correct decision was probably made.2 points

Been at Stadium since 6pm, no rain here whilst in the stadium. They just even been round with water truck.2 points

You're thinking of the National League Riders Development Series, which - as @Islander15 said - is different from the National Development League Riders' Championship - easy to get them confused, mind. The latter is a one-off meeting at Poole.2 points

Leicester already off, on the same forecast. But it happened on opening night, Leicester cancelled on a forecast, Oxford ran. Watching the weather cross the country on the radar could be more exciting than the meeting on this one!2 points

Those were my words too when I seen the video of Tate being wiped out. Now we have to go a week without him. Thankfully it’s nothing serious cause it could have been a lot worse.2 points

Nice and central for the fans , no time off required for those that work……I typed sarcastically. Even the majority of the competitors will be out of pocket.2 points

I'm flabbergasted that peolple are still referring to GI, by some flying pig miracle, building a new track as "positive news" We don't want these parasites to have any connection to the club whatsoever! Anyone worth their salt would refuse to attend and line that b****** Osborne's pockets and it would be a matter of time before he would be looking to put houses on the new land. If GI are our only option, I would rather we stay mothballed!2 points

I hope I'm not speaking too soon... but Oxford are really setting an example to other clubs on how to get matches on! And before you all go apoplectic, yes I know they don't always get it right.1 point

I think you are both confused. Poole are holding the NLRC which is a one-off meeting. The meetings at Edinburgh & Leicester are part of the development series. But these are still singular events, they don't carry the scores for an overall winner. Even if the Poole have announced it incorrectly & the NLRC is part of the development series, it's still a "one-off" event, with a winner declared on the night.1 point

To support an ex-Lion and good servant to British Speedway and for a night of entertaining Speedway... I don't think it's too controversial to say I would have "preferred" an individual meeting is it?1 point

The fact its been announced after ticket sales have been open for so long makes it even worse. They bleated about having to have such expensive tickets as it's expensive to put on then release those prices a month later. Not a great look.1 point

I don't think it's the Poole press office that's confused!1 point

Would of nice if Harris had donated his winnings to charity instead of sharing it with fellow riders who have plenty of money already. Boring meeting on the whole by all accounts anyway.1 point

Usually there is some, but for the last SoN it was all coned off with police enforcement notices.1 point

It does make sense to make a double switch - Would such a move push Dan T back to reserve?1 point

be interesting to know what the sales people told buyers: 'oh don't worry about that, speedway's not coming back'.1 point

It certainly won't be a "good look" for anyone watching "who used to go" or has a passing knowledge of the sport.. Certainly no FOMO when you watch something with swathes of empty seats...1 point

If the ticket prices weren’t enough then the car parking is the straw that broke the camels back, think it’s time we got rid of discovery, with their half arsed approach to the sport, awful camera work and their totally out of touch with reality approach to pricing, we need and deserve better1 point

Whichever way you dress the situation up and word it, it's a shambles and farcical. The sport in this country suffers but nowhere near as much as the fans. Sadly, it probably won't be the last time this happens this season either1 point

Hard to ride the Uk tracks..lol its hardly Wolves and Arena anymore. .his Polish club wont let him ride and hes been banned.1 point

Nice thought to think Osbourne would even consider loaning money for a new stadium build it is indeed a shot in the dark. However most of his promises lead on the road to nowhere.I also think we are all becoming a little paranoid with all this speculation.I would shed no more tears if Osbourne went straight to hell as he is definitely one person I would not like to meet on the other side.1 point

It's more evidence for me that we are simply in the wrong league, if you can't successfully employ top riders for a full season then we need to be competing in the Championship.1 point

If you mean, they've said that's what they'll do, you're right. But (I might suggest) take anything, any politician says in the next 5 weeks with a large pinch of salt.1 point
