  1. Regarding Jye, Berwick’s loss is most certainly Workingtons gain and he is a far better rider than his 4.98 average suggests. I’d fancy him to put at least a point on that and prove any doubters wrong. Those who “bagged” on Jye at Berwick were a vocal minority and I know that the large majority of Bandits faithful are disappointed he has left and will be sure to give him a rousing reception on his return to Sheilfield Park, I have no doubt he will “haunt” Berwick with a number of strong scores against not only us but every team in the league. He was a fantastic servant to the club and I can only wish him well for his season at Workington.

  2. And why does this concern you what he gets. Or is it because it’s Glasgow that you have to make comment about something that is A. Nothing to do with you. B. Nothing to do with you. C. Still nothing to do with you. I just love that this annoys you .

  3. I watched bewley for a season at Glasgow, probably at same stage boughen is now, and if told me he'd be a GP rider I'd have called you liar. There wasn't a bit fanfare about Dan, he had audition for a place at Edinburghs press and practice I seem to recall. Can only comment on boughen I saw easily beat bomber by about a straight at ashfield at end of season and that'll do for me on a 5

  4. Honestly, I'm probably gonna eat my words in years to come, but I don't get all the hype behind Ashton. Yeah he's extremely talented on a bike for his age, but his attitude and the way he rides... I just can't see him developing into anything too crazy. Yeah he might eventually be a heatleader at Championship level, but I just honestly can't see past that. He reminds me a lot of Lewis Bridger. Bags of talent at a young age, but I just don't see him hitting full potential. I really like Glasgow and I hope it pays off for them, and it probably will, but he's not the next Bewley, Lambert, Woffinden in my eyes. I know it sounds stupid saying this already at his stage in his career, and I do hope I'm wrong... I just don't feel it with him, like I did when I first saw Robert Lambert and Dan Bewley ride, and I just can't explain why...

  5. Genuinely not too fussed that AB isn’t returning. Didn’t like his attitude one bit, spent the second half of the season shutting off earlier and earlier, and if he didn’t gate he didn’t bother trying. Clearly a rider in there but happy for another team to find it.

  7. I am a frequent visitor to our local Theatres, such as the Corn Exchange in Kings Lynn, to see live music. The shows are generally between £28 and £35 per person for 2 hours live entertainment. Some shows are even more. The killer for me is that I live just south of Norwich, so its a 100 mile round trip and the cost of fuel has to be factored in. Plus the cost of a programme, perhaps a drink and some chips and its a big expense now I'm a pensioner. I think the admission price is OK, but its the total cost that makes it difficult for some people.

  8. http://www.birmingham-speedway.com/_mobile/news.php?extend.3589 An increase of £1 which will more than likely be standard across the board at a minimum, but the season ticket prices frozen so that makes them even better value than this year. It’s 12 league meetings plus, the first knockout cup fixture. That’s a saving of £52 if you plan on attending every meeting. Two free meetings, and £4 off a 3rd meeting. Fair play that’s more than decent. I also like the extras they’ve added also, one VIP experience and two complimentary tickets to be passed on to “non speedway fans”. Not sure how they’ll police that, but it all adds up to a very good deal 👏🏻

  9. That's easy for you to say but let's be honest who would offer you any sort of signing on fee.

  12. I cannot let this pass without a comment. Foord reckless , no mate just very green, but open to a lot of improvemnt. The more he rides the better he will get.

  13. Watching the Rugby Union Test Matches in the Autumn International Series this November it hurts to see what we once also had in Speedway, but and sadly neglected and eventually lost. The sport is the poorer now without any full strength International test matches.

  14. Would be great for April, not sure what we’d do for the rest of the year when he inevitably goes missing on track or doesn’t turn up at all or whatever other excuse in the book he comes up with. I could absolutely see him being the choice but he will never be my flavour of the month unfortunately.

  15. Kenyan wasn’t offered a new contract as he wanted more than Louis was prepared to offer. As some have already said the boy had his head turned by offers from elsewhere let just hope they are concrete offers. A big shame really as another year at Ipswich in a settled environment alongside Emil & Jason would really have seen him kick on. If he is Birmingham bound I can’t see that being an upgrade on Ipswich. If Rew had stayed then one of Ellis or King would have gone & reading Kings interview I think it would have been him.

  17. 100%... Part of its appeal to me was that it was four contracted riders from each team... Leaving another second string and at least one "decent" reserve to cover where needed should anyone be missing... I seem to remember hardly any "cry offs" too, with each team being at full strength... Plenty of "Heat 15's" on show...

  18. Not surprised. Connor Bailey used to post videos of him winning races in the U24 Polish league and it looked more like a behind doors practice session- no one was there! Wonder if this contributed to Connor's decision to 'retire', hopefully just temporarily. Young lads could easily get themselves into debt and if they can't pay their bills when they don't get paid what they are owed, what can they do.

  20. I disagree... whenever I've seen GB/England ride it has always been very well attended SWC/SoN, test matches seem to have ceased since the inception of these competitions. As for individuals when they're run and promoted correctly (PCMT) it's almost a sell out at the NSS. As the BSPL have washed their hands of the national team it seems to be left to the company running Team GB Speedway to stage test matches which they apparently have no appetite for. So we have the situation where we are current World Champions and are not using that for the promotion and betterment of the sport at all.

  22. Just looking BV is/was £24 for the back straight and either £26 or £29 for the grandstand, so whilst you don’t get a seat at Sheffield, not the first to charge £25 by the looks of it

  24. Whatever Poole do the side will be much weaker Losing Cook and Brennan who if riding on championship this coming season would possibly be the highest averages in the league and replacing them with Rowe and Kerr is a much much weaker option although I like Rowe as a rider Big season for Zach Cook who hasn’t really progressed that much No idea why Foord was let go … yes he is reckless and at times dangerous but he scored well and can only surely get better . Poole promotion usually get it right but this is as tough a team to build this season

  26. IMO every team should be aiming to run 2nd half races for junior riders, let riders book in advance so they know they're guaranteed 2-3 rides. Obviously major incidents or bad weather will impact on the time available to run the races, but if meetings started at the advertised time, no delayed start due to queues outside, unless a major RTA in the area. If everyone knows the parade is 7:15 and first race 7:30 its upto them to get into the stadium ontime. Barring major incidents or poor weather it should be easy to get 15 races done and dusted in 90 minutes, leaving a fair bit of time for some junior races.

  27. When we had tracks in London, I regularly attended Wimbledon, Hackney and Crayford. You knew which night of the week they ran and didn't need to check the fixture list as they ran every week. Len Silver made a point of 'Make it a date, Friday at eight' and that is exactly what the fans did. The same weekly format was the norm throughout the country so it meant riders were on average racing one home and one away meeting every week during the season. How the promotions get things back to that is a major problem to which I don't have any real answers. Back in the 60s and 70s supporters would arrive in equal numbers for league, KO Cup, local derby challenges and individual meetings. These days many are only interested in league matches and don't even support a second team in a lower league (Oxford being a notable exception).

  35. It would be interesting to know just how many people living in or around Cardiff actually attend the Grand Prix meetings. This would perhaps give a good pointer as to whether a Cardiff Club would be supported - IF of course, a suitable venue in the City could be found. I spent some time working in Cardiff during my working days, and the people there all said that the old Cardiff track at Penarth Road was a difficult place to get to in the days when not so many people had cars and had to rely on buses, and that they thought this was why it didn't last very long. The Penarth Road track is long gone now, but I did look for it in about 1964 and found what ws left of it which was just a couple of huts without roofs, and a concrete starting area. Pre war, there was a Cardiff track at a place called White City which has also disappeared now, and some of my Cardiff mates did suggest a place called The Maindy Stadium might be a possibility. Glyn Taylor once told me that he had a stadium in mind - but he wouldn't say where! I never managed to get to Carmarthen, which was a bit of a disaster, but I did go once to Neath and saw that the crowd was poor and the facilities non-existent! I'd really like to see tracks at Bristol and Cardiff though.

  36. Words published, even direct from the horses mouth, are not always fact. Everything you hear, directly from the horses mouth, are not always fact. Every spoken word is told how they want it to be heard, even if it's a lie. Mainstream Media, Social Media, Websites, Face to Face, SMS to SMS, they all have one thing in common, they tell you what they want you to hear, self importance. And guess what, every single one of us suffer with it. Take everything you see & read with a pinch of 🧂

  38. He was the only No1 that was never really liked by the Eastbourne fans( me included). When you think Bjarne Pedersen won us over with his likeability and professionalism fairly quickly, having been the arch enemy captain for all those years at rivals Poole. We weren't hard to win over, but Zagar always seemed to have an 'I'm better than here' attitude to the fans.

  40. OK, it’s a cold and boring Friday morning so I’ll take the bait…. 1. Louis has decided to strengthen the team by bringing in Brennan. 2. Therefore, in the same way as Belle Vue ‘somebody has to go’ to accommodate that strengthening. 3. Two clubs offered Rew a significant uptick on his points money. He was ‘keen to stay’ but expected Louis to move towards his new offered points money. 4. Any business when hiring an individual weighs up cost v benefit i.e. value for money and it would appear that in this case Louis decided that did not stack up for him as the owner of the business. 5. I have no issue with Rew wanting to increase his earnings and another team being willing to pay accordingly, that’s called Capitalism. I wish Rew all the best and hope that we see him back as a Witch at some point in the future.

  42. As is often the case there are two sides to everything and right & wrong on both sides as I expect is the case here. However what puzzles me is that the rider stayed in contact with the club during his injury lay off and never raised a grievance despite having multiple opportunities to do so which is very odd. He obviously no longer wanted to ride for King's Lynn and wanted to be elsewhere. There is a narrative that Lynn are a shambles but plenty of experienced, quality riders are happy to ride for the club and return after leaving so it's obviously not the case. Sometimes people just don't click with eachother and can be on different pages, I suspect that is what happened here.

  43. Cook guested for us at Oxford last season and got a pretty solid 9 points from 6 rides riding at No 5. But that is the risk with 6-7 point riders. By the very nature of their average, they can be inconsistent, especially away. I don’t think there is a Stars fan I know who is getting overly excited and sensing silverware, but we now have a solid side, full of riders that either have good connections to the club or are popular with fans in their own right (like Harris). The club has a rebuilding job to do and it won’t happen overnight, but from personally speaking to Rob he’s keen to get the club more competitive than we have been. Last season, despite all the troubles, we won more matches than both the 2022 & 2023 seasons combined. Though that is sadly probably more a reflection of how poor those sides were. But they’ve looked at the issues from last season and done the best to mitigate those for 2025. Ok, it’s not a side built on big names but it’s one I’m certainly looking forward to watching. Judging by the reaction on social media etc, I think the vast majority of Stars fans think the same. Roll on March.

  45. Early season would be the time to run individual events... Pre Poland and Sweden.. "Well paid" practice and engine testing for the top riders before the "serious stuff" in Poland kicks in.. The first two or three weeks of the season... You would only need three or four "top riders" at each event on the Championship tracks I would suggest . Do a 12 rider field to help with costs, do some handicap racing to even up the meeting (like Wolves used to do with the Olympique) and see if a few "big names" can start your season with a bit of a bang.. Most Championship clubs are actually in "small" towns, even those with big city names, so advertising locally wouldn't cost the earth either, and most in these towns will have heard of Speedway I would think... A bit of hype in the marketing and you may get a decent start to the season, with something to advertise your club off the back of..
