  2. It’s quite clear that Louis won’t pay over the odds as he let Rew go because Brum offered him a better deal. In the time that I’ve been attending Ipswich they have been the opposite to cheque book speedway. One thing Chris has done is turn a well run club in to a highly professional outfit. You only need to look at the way they are all kitted out even down to matching club chairs for the pits. As for Tom I think it was clear he wanted to move to Ipswich & who can blame him wanting to be part of the most professional outfit in British speedway. If only the others & the sport in general could match it.

  4. It was noticeable at Press and Practice how the old place has been spruced up a lot. Pits now very smart compared to before; the turrets are sparkling white, the 'stand' has been smartened up, and a new viewing area for the riders added on bend 4, which allows an additional viewing space on that bend for the public. Clearly a lot of hard work has gone on - a big well done to everyone. Now we just need a bit more material on the track after Saturday's wind.......

  6. That is a disgusting post, uou have no idea about mental health, I was a psychiatric nurse until I retired last year and I can assure you that a huge percentage of people with mental health problems use drink or/and drugs to deal with it , Craig has admitted to having ADHD, which my grandson also has and , they can be ok one day and head fried the next, I hope you or your family never have an issue with your mental Health, we certainly don't want another Paul Fry or Danny Ayres

  7. That’s the problem we have with the cheque book clubs and their win at all COSTS mentality. We have a pick system in place for the RS process but that gets unfairly circumnavigated by waving £££££ at a rider, thus making the whole process redundant. The cheque book comes out again to lure a rider who had spent much of the season riding at number one to replace a reserve. To add insult to injury the reserve rider left without a club has to fill the void left my the missing number one. When we released Tom to Birmingham to aid their team building on their step up, we never imagined he’d end up being poached by a money club. To be honest we shared the opinion of most that Ipswich were perfectly capable of making a strong challenge for gold with their 2024 team (we’ve heard it often enough ffs) but greed takes hold of these kind and it’s an “I’m alright Jack” attitude. An attitude at odds with UK speedway in its current financial state. It beggars belief.

  8. I never cease to be amazed by some of the comments which appear on this forum. I was at Perry Barr last evening, and thoroughly enjoyed the meeting which in my opinion was one of the most entertaining and eventful that I have seen for some time. I was at the stadium for 7 hours and was able to see for myself how much time and work was spent on the preparation of the track which was watered continuously from 6.30 in the morning. Yes, it did dry out towards the end of the meeting but what else do people expect with the long spell of dry, sunny and windy weather we have enjoyed of late? It seems to me that there is a hard core of so-called speedway fans who read negative comments and cannot help jumping on the bandwagon and adding similar ones themselves - being critical just for the sake of it! Birmingham's track curator John Priest does a good job under difficult circumstances which seriously limit the time he has to work on the circuit, and he is assisted by Terry Chrabascz and Terry's son Gareth who both a have deserved reputations for their work on track preparation, so continuous criticism from people who live many miles away from Birmingham and do not attend meetings themselves is unwarranted. I watched the meeting - I haven't watched the stream, but I enjoyed what I saw. Ipswich were the better team and they deserved to win, but Birmingham put up a very good fight and the meeting produced some good racing and a close finish. Of all the supporters from both teams I spoke with afterwards, had enjoyed what they had viewed.

  9. Spoken like a true witch. Witch: I’m seething about Belle Vue. Mate: What have they done. Witch: Got someone from outside the sport to demand the rule book is adhered to. Mate: Right! Don’t you think sport should abide by the rule book? Witch : No, we’ve circumvented it many times. Mate: Ok, weird. What’s gone on? Witch: They are signing a new rider. Mate: Who and who have they dropped. Witch: Robert Lambet replaces Max Fricke. Mate: They can’t just drop a rider willy nilly. Witch: Max got injured. Mate: Not too badly I’m guessing from your reaction. Witch: Broken sternum, cracked shoulder blade, bruised lungs, sprained shoulder and concussion. Mate: Wow, how is he now and how’s his family coping? Witch: Don’t care! Mate: Er, really. Was he a weak link in the team, is that why you’re so bothered? Witch: No, he’s their number 1, in fact he’s the second best rider in the entire league. Mate: Right, so his injury replacement has a higher average, I can see why you’re upset. Witch: No, the replacement is nearly a point less. Mate: You do know you’re saying this out loud. I know you like to troll the socials, which isn’t cool by the way but what you’re saying to me is just wrong, very wrong. Witch: Great friend you are, you’re the troll and a prat, you’re just looking for attention, I hate you. Mate exits stage left.

  10. Agree. The way KL's 1-7 has been built all the pressure is on the No.6 to score a dozen plus in every meeting to compensate for the lack of firepower at No.1/No.5. If the No.6 doesn't go well then King's Lynn will get hammered.

  13. I once travelled with a meeting official and we were waved into the stadium free of charge. Team manager fair enough, but me? I went and paid like everyone else. Later on in the pits (before bikes started and fans allowed in) I was chatting to an acquaintance who had also come in with a meeting official only they had not gone to pay like I did. They could well afford it and were boasting about getting in for free. I'm not looking for a pat on the back just making a point that some people are freeloaders and British Speedway needs to be stricter about their guest list!

  14. Quite enjoyed last night, racing was ok if not spectacular, think last night brum would of won against any other team than Ipswich, the 2 reserves won the match for the witches and away from home you would very rarely get one let alone 2 reserves being so dominant but unfortunately for Birmingham last night was one of those occasions

  15. I know all the things he does and my grandson does the same and he almost committed suicide but was found before he could do it, the symptoms of adhd are not just hyperactivity, there are massive negative symptoms, you are judging Craig by what he does, and I get that is what you see, but you don't see the turmoil that causes his actions, try and be kind instead of crucifying anyone on social media

  16. Obviously Lambert cost virtually nothing to get him to ride in the play offs, not to mention legal fees.

  17. One option to counter that, would be top 4 into the final & do away with the semi final. While I don't like finals feel 4th winning is preferable to 6th winning.

  18. I did say the racing would be naff,, that track is always the same after a few dry days,, tracks need to be watered the day before at least to get the moisture into the base

  21. My own personal opinion is the person who signed him is a personal friend of cook and is trying to cover for him, he was made to bring in kemp at Leicester because Phil morris made him as they didn’t want the official press day to have this issue for all to see but Phil morris isn’t over the championship so he is using this silence to hopefully get cook out the pub(so to speak) and resume his career, which on a friend level I get but this is a professional sport (allegedly)not a rehab center for those with issues outside of the sport.the fans of Berwick deserve answers(they pay the wages remember)and have a team of riders they can get behind and the longer this saga goes on the more the fans are getting mugged

  22. Simple, it's highly unlikely that a rider competing in such a competition does not own 2 back wheels. They are issued with (pay for) 2 tyres before the meeting to fit and have ready to go in the event of qualification for the semi and/or final. If the tyre is not used it is used in their next meeting or bought back by the issuer. This should not be beyond the wit of man.

  23. So a rider has a sponsorship with a certain manufacturer and wins it using a different manufacturer's wheel not good for him . What if some riders use conventional tubes and others don't . What if the rider likes his wheel balanced and another doesn't

  24. The only thing we do know is that the day before Leicester's press and practice his father informed the club that he wasn't ready to ride Speedway. I think the clubs he was contracted to ride for, and their fans, deserve some kind of explanation, even if it's just a "personal reasons" statement and in Bewick's case some kind of acknowledgement of the events at Leicester... it's not too much to ask from a professional sportsman and or club.

  26. Disgraceful comments... Alcoholism is recognised as being often directly linked to mental health issues therefore anyone isn't "just an alcoholic"... I presume therefore that a rider must also have let down his team because he has broken his leg? Oh, hang on, that's visual isn't it? He MUST be genuine because we can see the plaster his leg is wrapped in.. It is only Speedway, a very, very tiny sport watched nationally by a very small portion of the country.. And by just a few hundred in Berwick... If he doesn't ride this year, I am sure the world will move on.. No idea what is wrong with the lad, if anything at all, but, if there is, hopefully he can sort it... Best Wishes to him...

  27. Something happened around that time to make him available. Can’t think what but it might have made the local news or one of the free newspapers. Wish I could remember. Re Doyle, if I rode for Ipswich I wouldn’t want to rider anywhere else. £££££

  28. Spoke to a few Brum fans who told me last night was deffo one of the better matches they have witnessed! I thought it was average at best and won't be going back despite being fairly local for me. Speedway continues to shoot itself in the foot. You now have riders who will entertain and you give them that to race on?

  29. Poole fans just can't handle the fact that some riders will and do turn them down for a number of reasons not just financial Ego far bigger than brain with some of them. Especially Skidder1 remember that bloke!

  31. Doyle is on record saying he doesn’t want to go anywhere else. Emil was a free agent prior to the 2023 season anyone in the uk could have signed him. Louis put in the time & effort to make that happen & by all accounts had to win over Emil’s manager to make that happen. Did any other UK promoter think outside the box to try & sign him? I doubt it but if they did then he chose Ipswich over the others. It now appears that Ipswich is the only UK club he would ride for.

  32. Len Silver was the man for restricting access. He would wait at the gate & point at the sign that stated 1 rider 1 mechanic 1 guest then he would count the number of spare heads. The rider would know nothing until he got his pay cheque with deductions for extra persons.

  33. Don't think much more could have been expected from Ben Cook TBH, he was the only Star to beat Lidsey until heat 15. Going from gate 4 in heat 1 at the NSS is something Fricke, Bewley and until this season Kurtz struggled with. Zagar was the only rider to consistently get decent outcome from that scenario. Wasn't his last visit to the NSS when he threw away a spot in the SoN final for Czechia trying to chase down Lebedevs when along side Milik they had the other Latvian relegated to last? At least he didn't do anything stupid like that last night. He beat Zach Cook which NKI failed to do in heat 14.

  34. Whether the RS scheme is fiddled or not will always split opinion but if we're going with the theory that it's legit then the one thing that really is stupid about it is this. Going down the NFL route of rewarding poor performances over the course of the previous season. Whoever finishes 1st in the previous season should get first choice and whoever finished 7th should get the 7th pick, Not the other way round where the top team gets punished for having a successful season by getting the last pick the following year.

  37. Even though Bomber is at reserve. It's still a lot to ask for him to be the match winner at every meeting. Fair enough he broke down when winning heat 2 last night, but after that he scored 3+1 beating Mulford and Z Cook. Even winning heat 2 his score would have been 6+1. Even though a good score for a reserve. From a Kings Lynn perspective, not a match winning one.

  39. Its going to be a struggle to entice 'spectators' on that surface!? I asked the question before the season started....'has the track been well prepared after last seasons yawn fest'? I was assured that there had been loads of work done....what I wasn't told was that the work was done by Stevie Wonder!? Who's going to pay £24 to watch a pile of..... The only positive was that the poor surface levelled the meeting! There's no way Thompson/Jenkins would've out scored Doyle/Sayfutinov on a 'proper' race track! Glad the ref got the BIG call right when Brennan went down....would've been easy to exclude Jeppesen. Fair play to Seth Perkins! P.S liking what I see with Jeppesen....surprise package so far!

  41. Everyone knows the "rising star" draft was rigged. It was odd that the two clubs with the most money ended up with the best riders.

  42. There are positives and negatives for both formats (finals vs just 20 heats) maybe for the top 6 format the two straight through to the final have a match race (with the top scorer choosing gates) after the semi to decide who gets first gate pick? Would at least mean the tyres are all in the same condition and will let the top 2 see the track after the final grading (also gives 1 more race for fans).

  43. For a 6.5 rider away from home against Belle Vue's heat leaders, that's not an awful showing. However for a GP rider it's very disappointing. But he did nothing to warrant a GP return except be born in Czech Republic tbh.

  48. What a very strange & insensitive comment. Clearly, as stated, the family have decided to let Tai decide when & what details are released regarding the injuries and treatments he has had to endure. In the meantime, his wife & mum have taken the opportunity to sincerely offer heartfelt thanks & recognition to the folk who in the immediate aftermath of the incident made all the right calls to save Tai from an outcome far more final than from what you think are newsworthy injuries. Those of us who share concern over the health of one of speedways greatest riders have been please to read the message and will continue to abide by the request not to speculate any further in preference to waiting for further official updates to be released at a time whenTai and his family decide is appropriate.
