  1. Very enjoyable competition this SGP3, lots of new names to watch, and some very determined racing.

  13. Average is too high, will never happen. Perhaps he moved up too soon. Leaving the NL behind & going to the Prem as a RS when he was 16 I believe. Kinda hope Cairns doesn't follow suit & takes his time to move up the leagues, take a sensible approach like Luke Harrison does.

  14. Good competitive meeting in terms of it being close, without there being a lot of great racing. Bears started slowly and could never feel comfortable until right at the end. King, Riss and Edwards good for the Bears but Jody Scott deserved his rider of the night award for an excellent debut. Won Redcar the meeting with his points and looked very impressive. Impressed with Gusts and McDiarmid and Masters was quick when he gated. They look a good solid team.

  15. The team was built on boughen at least needing to average 6.5. he's not even keeping his current one up. Evidently a crisis of confidence but downing tools wasn't the way to go about it. Remember sedgy just about got a Max the meeting he knew was getting canned and improved ever since. Nagel who rode at sgp2? Didn't think could get him in a 5 but good signing if we have

  19. Yes some of that camera work was absolutely appalling!!. Great racing from the young lads. 100% commitment. Louis corrected Tatum in the run off, when Tatum said Rushen had pulled out. You could see it was Rushen as he was wearing the red helmet, but Tatum was having no of it. He really needs to show a bit of humility does Tatum. i suppose it's the public schoolboy in him. He thinks he's never wrong. Unfortunately for him though, 9/10 He is 😂

  25. I would like to think he has been asked and declined. I think most Ipswich fans myself included are expecting a defeat on Monday. But listening to the excellent pride of the east podcast this morning it seems the lynn fans aren’t confident either over two legs this could be absolute classic clash

  26. The last paragraph is far to true, to invest in YOUR team and then watch the same riders guest for someone else and help them is so backwards for a competitive sport. And I get it, riders need to make a living and all that jazz, it just doesn’t sit right with me. Nothing against kings Lynn, but I’m an Ipswich fan and to watch some witches riders guest for Lynn was weird. Imagine a Norwich player getting injured so town loan them a player to help out! It’s another reason why I don’t like the averages (but fully understand why for competitiveness), you build a team over years which you feel is yours then have to break it up just because you’re too good.

  28. Promoting stopped back in the late 70’s. I can remember seeing posters etc around Rayleigh and on the A127 etc on most race nights and plenty of articles in the local press. Saturday night and bank holidays at the Weir were packed with families in the stadium and a good smattering of away fans on the back straight. Best were Eastbourne, Ipswich, Canterbury and Crayford but you also had Bradford, Sunderland, Crewe, Ellesmere Port and others who made the journey. Alas this has all gone now and we are left with a shadow of what it used to to be.

  29. In his interview he said that hardly anyone in Birmingham knows that speedway exists, and it's similar around the country... And I thought it was his, and his other promoters' job to ensure that wasn't the case..!!! They had ONE job....😁

  30. There was a good interview with Jason Doyle in the Speedway Star and he mentioned how some riders are basically "starving themselves" up to three days before meetings to drop weight.. Tai, and others, have mentioned in the past how much of an advantage being "lightweight" can be on the big circuits where speed is key.. When the tracks were deeper, maybe a bit of weight helped drive the back wheel into the grip, but on today's wide, big, fast, slick circuits, getting off the start line and riding full gas has never been so important given the straight line "rocket ships" they race on.. Bikes get checked for weight, so maybe both man and machine should have a minimum combined weight too? Doyle suggested that the weight loss can be draining and weaken the strength of the riders, which obviously means a potential safety issue could exist... They changed the weigh in time in Boxing due to fighters "boiling down" and losing weight right up to the morning of the weigh in, the day before a fight, meaning so much strength and endurance had been lost come fight night, even after trying to pile pounds back on in 24 hours.. Would a "minimum weight" for rider and bike even up the playing field?

  31. He's not the only one. Maybe they just use better equipment there as harder to keep their spot.

  32. Very poor refereeing in ht 15 when off gate one Kyle jumped as clear as day and gained from it. Poor from Alex putting Paco on gate 4 in ht15, may as well run with 3 riders only. Kye would be a better bet.

  40. Janowski is but always scores well at Lynn so I'd imagine he wasn't interested rather than not been asked. Ippo must have approached him surely.

  41. I'd be in favour of a two part weight limit, one for bike and one for rider. Firstly it could be relevant to safety on a couple of counts. Riders starving themselves can't help with their strength or injury resistance. Then I remember seeing a clip of Tai saying that he ran smaller boots without the insert so he could run a smaller steel shoe to help keep the weight down. If they will go to those lengths what other safety protection are some sacrificing? Would riders be wearing more protective armour and padding if the weight wasn't an issue? A higher weight limit for bikes could also help with costs, lightweight fixings and components are always going to be more expensive than standard stuff.

  43. Several million will be paid to riders this season across both pro leagues .. Who hardly anyone on their own street would recognise for most of them . Yet hardly one penny will be spent on some professionals generating an increase in crowd numbers and an awareness of the sport and it's riders .. Absolute madness.

  44. I agree with you, it was a proper test, scoreline doesnt do the meeting justice. I am sure Barker could do a job for a premiership club at reserve, his pass in heat 6 was outstanding.Good meeting overall and it was close on aggregate until the end, Plymouth can hold their heads up high.

  45. Don't think it is too early to worry about strength of the team. The indicators so far suggest we will struggle away and be vulnerable at home. We qualified from this BSN group last season so why quite poor this time around ?. Redcar are definitely stronger while Scunthorpe are probably comparable to last season. What about the Comets ? - Batch has not been at the same level both in attitude and on track performance so far. Cookie's points from the 4 corresponding fixtures last year (52) haven't been replaced by the rest of the team. Tate scored 32 points from No 2 over the 4 fixtures in 2024, (Jye 20) and 25 riding at No 3 this season. Fraser riding at 4 has scored 16 points whereas Claus Vissing riding at 4 last season scored 28. Claus's away average of 7.88 was excellent support for Batch and Cookie away from home. The lack of fire power has been our undoing so far. It is fair to say that Tate is not yet back to the rider we had the pleasure of watching at the GT Tyres Arena first half of last season, hopefully that confident fast Tate will return soon. The team was built on the premise of strength in depth but that strength is lacking. Improvements will need to come before we get too far into the league campaign or I fear we will need to bring in a strong heat leader from somewhere.

  46. I used to hear the argument with pre 65 trials bikes, people were spending £12,000 building trick Ariel HT5's which got the weight down to around 210Lbs for a 500cc bike which would normally weigh above 300Lbs, alloy rims, alloy replica Whitton Bantam hubs with plated brake surface, tubeless tyres, modern lightweight fork internals in Norton sliders, PVL ignition, 350cc flywheels, carbon fibre primary cases, sintered alloy barrel with chrome liner and Yamaha XT 350 piston, alloy guards/levers/bars, NEB clutch foam pad seat etc. etc. Then saddle it with a 14 stone rider !, sometimes the cheapest option would be to lose 3 stone off the rider ?
