  1. You mean Glasgow spend money on dirt, equipment, facilities for the riders instead of trips to Vegas, big win bonuses for only the 1st match of the season against Glasgow. Are the financial reasons that bad you cant afford some dirt, diesel to run more than one tractor and get your track man an extra pair of hands ?! As for affording Nagel ,what exactly you talking about? The no sign on fee, uses club bike/and club mechanic (who only charges fuel and food), the fact he showed interest in coming to Glasgow after the SGP2 before Glasgow even approached him And your knowledge of the Workington situation isnt even worth commenting on, other than if you think you know half a story take it as you know hee haw. As for the ref's decisions, is what it is, after 15 heats Poole won, no complaints here, thats sports. But there is absolutely no excuse to scrape the track bare on every grade. Tracks come alive after heat 7, Wimborne becames a soulless dirt track after heat 7. If you have a win at all costs attitude then fair play thats your call, but lets stop the BS denial of what you do to achieve that win, and the impact that has for fan entertainment and the core fundamental of bikes riding on dirt. Ironically your team building would still be as strong as they are now with a home track prepared and graded to actually race on,only difference is fans would see what speedway should look like on a regualr basis and not just a handful of heats here and there.

  2. There is a noticeable drop in crowd levels whenever BSN are in town no matter how far travelled the opposition are. Might just be us Glaswegians are tighter than anyone else or we just have more competition in the offered sports in the area I don't know but I can see why they decided to drop their streaming. The promotion is trying to get a lot of new fans interested in speedway and in my opinion, a big crowd is just as important in retaining them as good racing is. Half of sport is the atmosphere and if a new fan showed up to an empty back straight would they really stick around long?

  4. 100% as soon as the rain came in certain riders had it fixated into their minds that they weren't going to ride no matter how much track work took place. Especially with it being a GP weekend as well.

  5. The turnstiles were opened at 6pm. The downpour started after 6:20pm. Your not going to then close the gates and leave people standing out in that rainstorm. Imagine the chaos if the meeting was to go ahead at 8:30. How would you get these supporters through the turnstiles in time

  6. Once again this myth rears its ugly head. What evidence do you have to make such an outrageous statement? As I've written before, you have to go back eleven years to find an incident in which a rider suffered career-changing injuries at Owlerton. How many other PL or CL tracks can make such a claim?

  9. Also quite a few clubs don't own the stadium and in Poole’s situation, stadium use is short term future (last time i heard them asked about it in the press). I think Poole fans enjoyed H15. In fact quite a few were jumping up and down. So i think they were entertained enough. Also the track was way better than in previous weeks, so will take that.

  10. The same Nagel who couldn’t fit UK into his schedule in the winter and the same one when asked a few weeks before signing for Glasgow who gave the same answer, then all of a sudden can do. So him showing an interest is utter crap, worked out ££££ well for him. I’m sure all other clubs would love to do half the stuff Glasgow have done to their stadium and track as well, however they don’t have a spare few million lying around like they do.

  11. Yes hope so the 3k free tickets were given away at the Beatson cancer charity run at the weekend to all the entries. it is a event supported massively by Allied Vehicles and raises lots of money for the charity along with lots of other events that Allied are associated with in Scotland

  13. So after 4 seasons as a Director & Shareholder that's my time with Birmingham Speedway at an end. An eventful, at times stressful, at times farcical and at times enjoyable experience! A huge thanks to the small but loyal Brummie fanbase that put up with season after season of under performing teams, you deserved better! Full credit and my upmost respect to Nigel Tolley, he wasn't far short with the figures he quoted in the recent speedway star interview with what he invested in the club (there was also a six figure investment from other shareholders during the period I must add). Nigel is as mad as a (top) hatter, but I really like the guy. My only criticism of him (and he knows this, I told him enough times) is that he allowed himself to be influenced by others who failed to deliver for the club! Seeing the day to day finances and operations of the a Championship and then Premiership club is a real eye opener, so a massive thanks to Financial Director Tracey Smith, who somehow managed to juggle the finances to keep everyone happy (most of the time) a truly lovely lady, she has been the glue in a massively disjointed operation, which would have fallen apart without her. Some priceless moments over the 4 years on the management zoom meetings / race nights - I could write a book! You also learn a lot about riders, some smashing chaps around Paco Castagna (legend) Freddie Lindgren, Tobi M, Leon Flint, Sam Hagon, Jason Edwards, Thompson twins all really good guys! No comment about some mind Made some great friends, I will miss Guesty, Dave Rowe, Pete & Dan Ballinger, Chris Adams, the guys and girls from the supporters club and fellow shareholders Steven, Jake and Vic. Such a shame that Birmingham Speedway is no more, but without Nigel it wouldn't have got into 2023 let alone 2025 and for that alone he deserves the respect of those who knock him! Give us a B.....! Cheers Paul

  22. Your original statement that "Sheffield is the most dangerous track in the league" is not borne out by historical statistics and is therefore misinformation. Like most teams, Sheffield has seen several of its home riders suffer injuries during recent seasons, but not once have those injuries been incurred at Owlerton. Rather odd considering they are riding at Owlerton week-in, week-out, don't you think? In the absence of evidence to the contrary, a retraction of your disgraceful and dishonest misrepresentation would be the appropriate measure.

  26. My parents used to take me to Rayleigh and we would enjoy both the Speedway and Stock Cars before rushing back to the station to travel back to Wimbledon for the evening meeting at Plough Lane. The last few years saw the Stock Cars replaced by PRI Bangers and Mini Rods or Anglia Rods, personally Stock Cars and Mini Rods would have been our favourite but the Stock Cars had been replaced by the PRI Bangers by the time the Mini Rods started. Being a Stock Car, Speedway and Railway enthusiast I thought it was a great day and always looked forward to our Rayleigh visits.

  29. Exactly, which is why he should have been the first name on the Leicester team sheet this season but it sounds like we were maybe dithering around and he decided to accept a concrete offer from Lynn. We ended up with Craig Cook!!!!

  30. Kudos to Leicester who interviewed Andy Grahame, Nigel Tolley, Laurance Rogers and after the match the whole of the Birmingham team and management for those who stayed behind, even though there wasn't much said by the riders that wasn't about themselves, most of these riders seem to be so out of touch with the club and fans they ride for, sometimes it seems as though it would be better if they kept their helmets on and we could just live with the illusion that they actually care about the club they ride for. Not so much kudos to Mr Zagar though, while a bit of language doesn't particularly bother me, effing & jeffing over the PA to the crowd is not big, clever or particularly that funny. After the Allen/Wright fine I fully expect Mr Zagar to be receiving a similar fine for breach of SCB Reg 017.2 h) The use of any accessible form of media to propagate foul, abusive or offensive language, profane activity or fraudulent comments against any rider, official or member of the SCB or deemed to bring the ACU, SCB or BSP LTD into disrepute.

  31. Pleasing result for The Aces with better a performance from our reserves. Shame about Jaimon but these things happen and even an average return from him would have seen another away win, not that it was needed. I was 250 miles away but even I could hear Brady say f*#^ that in his last two rides and it difficult to argue against that when comparing a late season filler to the world crown. After this, I’m very optimistic about our play off meetings given the form of our bottom four and the scores to be delivered by our top three. Exciting times again on the domestic and world front for Aces fans.

  33. See this is the problem ignorant people having a sly dig at Glasgow without knowing the full facts. An unlikeable self entitled fanbase and then having a cheap shot for helping another club out. Tells you everything you need to know about them.
    2 points
  34. I think most would see this as a rant of someone whose team lost and trying to make excuses why they lost. Glasgow do not have a stream so most of us will not be able to see the meeting and comment on how amazing it is, plenty of dirt on the track, passing on every bend etc.

  35. You've said this before on another thread about Nagel being unable to ride in the uk. And I repeat why would a young up and coming Danish rider want to ride at Armadale. He is a polite young man so I'm sure he would have given a polite response should the monarchs have spproached him. It's a pity your Livingston project fell through. Has anything been built on.the site yet or were the new land owners just hoping you would offer them good money to lease the site? And what happened to the money that was going to be used for that project?

  36. When do you suggest they should have run it then ? Looking at both team's fixtures, either one or both were riding every Thursday from the start of April to today, other than May 8th and May 29th when there were no Premiership matches at all. Didn't Lynn also get dog's abuse for calling off a meeting the day before and all the experts on here saying the forecast rain didn't come and the track would have been perfect ? The forecast for Sheffield in the late afternoon was for light rain and none after about 6pm so in theory the meeting could have gone ahead. There was a torrential downpour just after 6 which made the track unrideable and the track staff did everything they could but not all the riders were happy to race so the ref called it off. How is any of this the fault of the Sheffield promotion ? How long is the journey from Ipswich to Sheffield ? 3.5 to 4 hours on a good run ? Assuming nobody wants to risk getting there at the last minute, I would guess most fans would be setting off between 2pm and 3pm. Do you expect them to be psychic and call it off 3 hours before it has even rained ? I would say that it is likely it won't need to be run anyway. If Ipswich win at home next Thursday then the playoffs will be sorted without this match.

  37. This could be edge of the seat racing tonight. It has all the makings of a cracker. Not that anyone needs reminding but the winners on aggregate can relax knowing their future in the Extraleague in 2026 is assured.

  39. To be honest there needs to be a way that in the event of the meeting being postponed any travelling supporters are entitled to a refund. That way you may encourage additional supporters to a travel. Yes you would still be out of pocket for the fuel & food etc but at least the admission fee would be coming back to you.

  40. Well to get back to Poole 2025, I'm feeling more up beat about Poole's current form after seeing the last two meetings. Good to see Zac, Tobias, Cairns & Starke, all coming on strong at this crucial time. We are blessed with Mr Reliable Lawson, who continues to do the business. My only concerns are: Kerr's bike preparation presumably down to his spanner man or lack of funds? but totally fixable. My other concern is Anders form, he seems to be putting the effort in but isn't getting the results. Not sure what I would suggest. Pity the fixtures are getting spread out, making it harder to build up momentum.

  41. To be fair to Lawson whilst his best days are (probably) behind him he's brilliantly consistent for whoever he rides for - he was a big fave down at Arena when he rode for us!

  42. So are Glasgow going to join every other club and start streaming matches? It’s ludicrous that they don’t and of course have been missing a money stream while denying fans from all over the country from seeing their wonderful, bestest ever, dogs danglies, bigly magnificent race track. They can’t honestly expect ageing speedway fans to travel hundreds of miles in each direction to watch 90 mins of live action, but they can charge £12.99 that they wouldn’t have made with a stream. And it doesn’t have to cost much. Redcar’s streaming is basic but good enough. Two cameras. One static IRRC. One guy on a mic. Job done. Everyone happy. Sort it out please. Yes, stuck record.

  43. Every track in the country has been in this position - everything good to go and then the rain hits. The track staff worked their arses off for about 1.5 hours trying to get it raceable. Some riders were happy, some weren’t. It wasn’t a case of getting the people in and then calling it off, you could see that they were genuinely trying to get it on, but if the riders won’t play ball, what can the promotion do about it? its crap, but as said, there isn’t a track in the country where this hasn’t happened, it’s an unfortunate part of our sport.

  44. Sums up nicely want can be achieved with the right attitude. In the UK they are basically clueless in terms of promoting, understanding what the punter wants to see, attracting the right age groups and pandering to every other European league. U K speedway needs to get a grip and recognise it is not on the same level as the likes of Poland and cut its cloth accordingly. A shortage of riders is in part down to the way the sport is run and many a promising prospect has been lost because of the speedway hierarchy and its rules. What will it take for the morons in charge to realise a radical change is needed. If you want just one reason why they have the wrong attitude, read the international thread and the topic on news from Poland where money and clout calls the tune. The current custodians of the sport in this country should be held in contempt for the damage they have done by the crass management. Nothing will change, it will simply disappear into the annals of history. Well done BSPL and co.

  47. Bank holiday Monday meetings were always packed Rayleigh with speedway in the morning and Stock cars in the afternoon where Chick Woodroff was the promoter. One particular speedway meeting always sticks and it was Rayleigh versus Boston. I cannot remember which race but the Boston heat leader Arthur Price was out and Rayleigh had one Ivan Miller who I believe started off on grass track. On the final lap Miller who had come from the back passed Price to win. Price was not a happy chap. Some of the best meetings involved the local derbies with the likes of Romford, Crayford, Canterbury Eastbourne and Ipswich. Packed stadia and leaping uncle Len and terrific rivalry and atmosphere.
