From what I hear transport was arranged to take the bikes to Poole, but the rider forgot or did not want to arrange transport to get himself to Poole. So no fault of worky . Also the ban is meaningless as the season is over, why can't it be rolled over to the 2026 season6 points

There's a lot of Brits in the crowd... we really will turn up and watch any old crap š© š5 points

If Max and Freddy were to continue improving at this rate they will have good careers ahead. Max is steady whereas Freddy can't gate but battles past riders when possible. Too many young Brits have chucked it so don't see what unwarranted criticism achieves here. We finish top of the league and make the play off finals. That's plenty good enough for me thanks.5 points

It might be an odd question, but is there any point to all this !!!! It's like watching the funeral of speedway. One last ride before we go, so to speak !!!!4 points

The winner of the SGP2 should definitely be nowhere near the main SGP series, it's generally years before they're anywhere near the level required to be in the main series if ever at all. The last WU21 Champion currently in the series is Max Fricke who won it in 2016, it's taken him 10 years to get from that level to his current level and he's still relying on wild cards to qualify.4 points

Organisation and a strong hand on the tiller, no rearranging matches because a rider is a reserve in the Timbuktu Open Championship.4 points

They have completely ruined the world cup week format. back in the day it was a brilliant spectacle , even if the racing was gate and go it was still exciting and well attended. this new format is absolutely pathetic. why oh why do they change things that arent broken but any thing broken they do nothing about?3 points

All that āracingā when it was always obvious GB and Sweden would be top 2 and Germany and Latvia would be 3 & 4. Could have just had this one off race.3 points

GB, Sweden, Denmark, Australia should be direct in final with Poland. just have 1 off race off if required for the last 2 places.3 points

That my point about riders whose ambitions are in Poland even if your decent over here your just āusedā in Poland. As a lot of them have found out. Bowes has attended meetings in Poland missing fixtures in GB and has just sat in the pits not being used. His last match in Poland was 4 rides 0 pts hardly inspiring stuff.3 points

Poland has always been where the money is ,but getting them to hand it over has been a problem for a number of riders over the years.3 points

Generally speaking, the winner of SGP2 is way behind a regular GP1 rider. After winning GP2 series and GP after GP getting beat by top riders could demoralise the young lad and set him back. When Martin Vaculick came to GP1 he did well initially....but then didn't bother with GP1 fora few years to give himself time to mature as a rider. He came back into GP1, with more experience, came 2nd in GP1 just couple years ago. Sadly this year not performed too well, maybe he carrying an injury or something. Just after Fricke winning SGP2 came Drabik and Smektala, between them they won 3 GP2 on the trot. Neither of them yet in the GP1 series full time, Jaimon Lidsey the same. I think Jan Kvech was 2nd in GP2 just 3 or 4 years ago, he will come back in 2 or 3 years better then he is now, hes picked up the experience.... it was just too soon for him.3 points

Because they want us to see what they want us to see not what we want to see. There are those who say, if you don't like it don't watch it. Therefore they don't watch it and they don't come back.2 points

Who'd of thought it? In October as well? It might be "pie in the sky" but for 2026 how about - BSN Final by end of July - KOC Final by the end of August - League meetings complete by end of August - Play-off Semi's and Final in September.2 points

Oh dear, so that rules him out of the...*checks notes* Premiership PO final. The guy has explicitly told everyone his season is over and they've responded by banning him for 28 days. Shambles.2 points

I donāt think you can underestimate the pressure our team building put on those two young men. The number six - Hodder to begin with and now Perry - had a remarkably tough gig, especially. Neither have had the protection of an even slightly more experienced reserve partner - a Grahn, a Starke or a Hook, for example - to bear a bit of the weight and afford them to the time to develop. Iām not sure what Iād do next season. I think a lot of that depends on how the month of October goes.2 points

Not for me, it has to be one or the other, especially with nothing other than pride riding on it, the "LCT" would become nothing more than an end of season fixture filler.2 points

World Team Cup use to be a fantastic week of racing. Due to the fact Poland would nearly always win. Those in charge then in their wisdom decided to have a glorified pairs meeting. Now we have such unevenly matched pairs. Whats the point? Speedway must be the only sport that continues to shoot it's self in the foot. They get pleanty of air time, but People are not going to watch or attend this rubbish. Surely the FIM must know this?1 point

They have a roof that covers 80% of the track. They put covers down on the rest which is round the inside on the bends.1 point

You make the most important point, everyone is formulating the leagues for next year. Where on earth are they getting the riders from? Doubling up starting killing UK speedway in 2003 when riders were allowed to double up in the ill fated British league Cup. I'm sure a number of ex riders will be well informed and tell us they simply couldn't make a living out of it and had to pack it up.1 point

I agree league matches should be completed before the play-offs. But it would be daft to not allow a KOC fixture to be raced between 2 clubs who have finished their fixtures because others still have to finish theirs.1 point

Lambert. Not saying heās not a good rider. Donāt like his nature as a person. Bewley is never phased and comes across as a true professional on and off the track.1 point

Poland haven't been paying lots of riders in ALL leagues, why do you assume it's worky's fault, I know some issues reared it's head mid season, but surely the promotion would be sqeekey clean after that1 point

So many questions, in an ideal world the One League system is the way to go but it will have a dramatic effect on the way it operates with costs etc. No way will the likes of Kurtz , Bewley , Fricke , Doyle etc be able to ride in such a League even the so called lesser riders like Masters, Lawson, Harris (Heat leaders in both leagues) prefer and demand to ride in two British league sides to make a living. Its a complicated and sad way the British Leagues have evolved.1 point

Personally, I don't see the point of them. I'm not bothered about the points they can add or anything, I just don't really think they add anything in the current format. We went to the one in Wroclaw and it was just 30mins of a pair of riders going around followed by one race. Aside from a quick flash of the times now and again, there was no build up towards anything. It wasn't bad but I wouldn't rush back. Also, does qualifying really matter in speedway? I know some tracks will have their gate bias, but it's not like you're starting 15m behind, you're still getting 5 rides the same as everyone else.1 point

The split of opinions here is exactly the problem that needs to be solved. One big league (any race night therefore no star names or enough riders but otherwise sustainable). Or A Premiership (Mon & Thursday with star names but not enough teams). As per my previous post I think you can have both. But the Premiership needs to be slimmed down. 8 teams 7 home and 7 away. Get it all done over June and July when the sports channels have no football. Like The Hundred in cricket. Give the broadcaster something they can focus on and market to a wider audience for a shorter period. That probably provides enough fixtures for the star riders and promoters, especially if whatever TV money is for a small number fixtures. Less is more. But not for the domestic riders or maybe the stadium owners or supporters The solution, Premiership teams also operate a 2nd tier team. Alongside the other current 2nd tier teams ie 14 team league. Where the riders come from at this point I don't know so maybe 6 or even 5 man teams initially. You could even have a different promoter running the 2nd Tier team. Yes the 2nd tier teams might not attract the same attendances as the Premiership fixtures but the operating cost will be lower without the star riders. It's basically the franchise cricket model where the top stars move around the globe to play in different leagues for different franchises supplemented by local players who return to domestic leagues once the circus has moved to the next (town) country.1 point

I doubt if Harry Redknapp knows enough about speedway to bring in new major sponsors so your comments are just speculation. Glasgow is owned by very successful businessmen who I can't see risking their future by joining the premiership until it would be viable for them. Again, why would Recar or Plymouth want to take the same risk? If this did happen, the Championship, as the most viable current league, would be so depleted it would be no better off than the current Premiership1 point
-
I actually have a feeling that there will still be the status quo in 2026. I feel like the introduction of Redknapp at this specific time when rumours are rife are perfectly (and intentionally) timed. Think of it like this: Harry Redknapp joins a team specifically built to re-build and improve the profile of Modern British speedway. His influence brings in much bigger/high profile league sponsers to the premiership, bringing in much more capital than we've seen in a long while. I very much doubt a championship team would turn down that kind of income/exposure. I can see 7 teams running 7 man teams in both leagues in 2026. Glasgow have previously said they'll never step up unless it's financially viable for them. With big sponsors involved, I can see them pulling the trigger. We then only need 2 more teams to join in to make this happen. Personally I can see Plymouth and potentially Redcar joining in as well.1 point

What were the Edinburgh Riders and Management doing to miss that? With riders, mechanics and management, there must have been at least 20 people who missed something happening in plain sight. How did those pesky Glaswegians hide it from them all?1 point

Absolutely spot on. I found the Speedway Star recent edition which claimed something like "70% of fans want one big league" to be totally irresponsible. It seemed to be 70% of people responding to a dishonest question The question they were responding to was "Would you support one big league if it had 14 strong teams with good quality riders, and equally competitive teams?" But get that thought out of your head. A "yes" answer to that question is irrelevant. That's not an option. One big league, running on any racenight, would automatically rule out anyone who races in the Polish leagues. Gone would be: Max Fricke, Jack Holder, Brady Kurtz, Dan Bewley, Emil Sayfutdinov, Jaimon Lidsey, Josh Pickering, Ryan Douglas, Jason Doyle, Michael Jepsen-Jensen, Chris Holder, Tom Brennan, Luke Becker, Jan Kvech, Tobias Musielak, Nicolai Klindt, Matej Zagar, Keynan Rew, Ben Cook, Maciej Janowski, Rohan Tungate, Norick Blodorn, Francis Gusts. So that's 23 riders gone from Britain. So what will the Premiership bring to a new combined league? JUST ADAM ELLIS ! Every other rider who ride in the Premiership in 2025 (apart from Adam Ellis) doubled up into the Championship. We can't count them twice. So, the 5 teams joining the "One Big League" (Belle Vue, King's Lynn, Ipswich, Leicester, Sheffield) are bringing Adam Ellis to the party, but they need 5 x 7 = 35 riders. So these big 5 need to take 34 of the doubling up riders.... The remaining 9 championship clubs need 9 x 7 = 63 riders..... but 34 of them are not availsble because they can no longer double up. So suddenly we need a further 34 riders. Where are they coming from? We could look to the National League, but many of the NDL riders already double-up into the Championship, others are still only 15 years old, so even if we take every NDL rider right down to the lowest 3.00 newcomer, we still can't get close to filling 14 "One Big League" teams. Then of course, with no one able to double up, will riders be happy to have their income reduced by so much? Or will they quit the sport? What happens when someone gets injured? Where will replacement riders come from? ONE BIG LEAGUE CANNOT POSSIBLY WORK.1 point

Much better version of what I said the other day on this. It isnāt just a small handful of 8/9 point riders that would be missing, itās a hell of a lot more than that. Itās completely unworkable!1 point

The standard will have to drop sadly. Through necessity rather than desire. Britain isnāt producing as many riders as it used to and that next tier below the elite names isnāt as good as it was 10-20 years ago. There are still enough riders to fill teams, theyāre just not as good as they used to be. The way the sport has been run is to blame for that. A big part of which has been doubling up. It is a massive stain on the credibility of the sport.1 point
